    one from Tombstone

A couple of weeks ago I took one of my grandsons to Tombstone, Arizona. He was very excited about the trip and had a real love for the movie "Tombstone" and very familiar with what we were about to see. He told me on the way home that he really wanted me to make him something as a reminder of our trip there, for Christmas. This is what I came up with for him and I am pretty sure he will love it when he opens it. Dick heppnerguy

    First Project

I know that this is way below the level of most of you but here is my first project - almost! I used food coloring to dye the wood to make it non-toxic. Still trying to figure out which color(s) to stain the outline of the puzzle. BTW - definitely not my puzzle design!

    New Ornaments

Some more ornaments, latest SSW and crafts magazine. The single ornament took 1 1/2hrs of cutting, the other two I stack cut, 1 3/4hrs cutting. 40 holes in both patterns. FD #1 polar blades, one blade did both patterns.

If this is better suited in another section, admin please move. I'm posting some of my scroll work online for sale and could use better pics. I believe my main problem is lighting. We live in the woods so getting the natural, indirect light most recommend is difficult. Sometimes I do ok outside, but that's not going to be a good option this winter. My thought is to get either one of the pop up, self contained light boxes that are lighting and back drop all in one or go full studio type lights and a roll up background. My preference is the smaller, cheaper light box, but am wondering if anyone has actual experience using one. Also if anyone can recommend specific ones I'd greatly appreciate it.

    How To Post Photos

I used the same procedure that had worked elsewhere and tried to upload the file. Out of frustration I moved the file to photos, thendragged the photo (not the file) from iPhoto. It worked. Guess I am just slowing down.

Well, here it is in all its glory. Hopefully my customer will be happy. I applied a light coating of Watco natural and let it sit for 3 days. I got lucky with some nice warm dry weather. I shot 2 coats of poly. I think its done.

  14. Yes, he was an old man in his ways but was really younger than 3 of my kids. I don't think I have ever met anybody who was as polite and respectful of others than Brad. Such a loss. I'm tired of losing my "sawdust family. Everybody, listen up, STAY WELL! DON'T DIE!

I didn't mention anything about camera, But since you are just wanting to put photos online I wouldn't suggest anything better than a phone or cheap digital camera.. Especially trying to upload photos online many sites will automatically lessen the photo quality OR require you to downsize the photo anyway.. I spent over a grand on a DSLR camera and lenses etc.. My cheap iPhone 6S does better quality for "online" use than that nice camera does.. Between the cell phone and the cheap Sony Cybershot 7.2 Mega Pixel from 2005 era camera I have I get best results from my phone.. but that said I usually use the old Sony because it's easier for me to do them uploaded from my computer than my phone.. for me anyway.. LOL Edit to add: Not sure what you're looking for in photo quality etc.. but the selling venues I sell on want "white" backgrounds without a bunch of props etc.. In fact Amazon will not upload photos unless they are a certain size and a complete white background.. NO watermarks etc.. Etsy only suggest white background and no to little props.. Pretty hard to please Amazons photo requirements with a natural photo without editing the photo to get the pure white that they want.. SO I use a online program fotofuse.com to get the results I need. You might try editing your current photos.. you may not even need to build a lightbox and put a bunch of effort into photos.. The program is very easy to use so long as you start with a somewhat white background..

You did not mention what kind of camera you ar using. Phone camera are good but can be difficult to get well framed pics. A decent digital camera will do better and give you more latitude with lighting situations. A simple hanging backdrop in a neutral color {I use light grey}, a set of LED photo lights from Amazon {under $30}, and tripod for the camera is all that is needed. I also use a ring light to supplement the photo lights to knock down shadows, but not always needed. My biggest problem with the light boxes they sell is the inability to hang flat work on the back wall. I want my pics to be framed square and to do so they must be hung.

A little something I made out of 1/8 in Luan. Wife liked it so I kept it rather than giving it away. Finally figured out how to drag a photo:

I didn't mean to hijack Kevin's topic regarding PS Woods Super Sharp blades but I sort of did. I showed the beginnings of a project and gave the SS blades a try on 3/4" oak. I tried #7's first and then tried the #5's but went back to the 7's. After making the initial framework using the SS blades on my Hegner saw, I had to switch saws to my EX21 because I just felt more comfortable on it. I also switched to Pegas #5 mgt blades. They are still my favorite blades. They performed so well on the 1/2" oak I can't say it enough. I'm not going to change blades in the future. They will remain my "go-to" blades. Anyway, here's where it's at so far. I cut all the 3/16" bands and it's just sitting together right now. Still have to do all the sanding and then the glue-up. This has been a fun project with a lot of head scratching to get all the angles and measurements right. The next one, if I do a next one, will be much easier.

I'm not sure the wood, one of them is cherry, but the rest are scraps I've saved. I have some black walnut that I'm going to cut (I'll post it when I do. So far it's just BLO for a finish.

    Successful Weekend

This was my first show since November of 2019. This is an annual Christmas Boutique at a local church. Been going on for over thirty years. I’ve been doing it for the last six years or so. I’ve always done very well at this boutique, and this year was no exception! They always place me near the entrance to woo the customers. Here are a few pics of my setup. Of course it changes as things sell. I have more stock than I can display, so the display will change as the weekend progress.

    Good Craft Show Today

I used the sheet shrink wrap on some puzzles yesterday and discovered that was too time consuming and too much effort. So, I'll use the bags if I do this again.

  39. Hi Pete: Back when I was doing shows, I had these on my table, real small reindeers, 2" high, similar to what you are showing here. People would look at them, said they were cute and kept on walking I think I was asking $5 each - they did have a bow also on them, but didn't sell They were all thinking that these little guys were made in China or from the Dollar store Then, I brought one with me that was just cut and showed the people how to get to the reindeer, Once they were convinced that it was actually made by me on a saw, they literally flew off the table. Show and tell is one great way to get sales. Just thought I would share this little story. Fab4

  40. SO GLAD YOU INCLUDED that pattern .. Isn't this the same one that Alex Snodgrass does on his band saw by MEMORY ?? Have you seen him do that? Takes him about 15 seconds for each one !!!! hahahahaha .. doesn't even use a pattern! But .. I'm going to use YOUR pattern .. thanks !!!

  41. Not really sure how long this one took me. Worked on it over two different days. I am fairly positive it took longer to get put back together and lined up than it did to cut out though. 1/2 inch birch ply top and backer. #5 olson reverse tooth.

    New Experience

I must be the 'odd one out',, I've only ever used 1/8th singly for my patterns, as photo. I very rarely have reason to stack cut. I generally use Niqua #3 blades and have my saw below full on and never really had a problem. In fact stack cutting scares me a bit as I'm not sure I'm good enough to try although not sure why as I learned to scroll on ¼" wood.
