  1. I had a couple ask me for a couple of dog leash/key ring holders at the craft show last Saturday. I finished them all need to contact them to arrange a drop at time and place. The patterns were supplied by our own Iggy. Thanks for looking Jim

  2. I purchased the 2021 pattern book not to make ornaments or patterns to sell but because I loved the designs. A friend collects angels so this was perfect. I have cut a couple so far and these are really easy as not too many holes. The angel below uses a different font a getting 9 character name in was bit of a challenge. I added the year for fun. Thank you to Travis for these.

    My New work

I have been busy cutting and painting, I cut a good few days of painting out. Then I spend a few days of painting. If that makes since, I have a few more trucks to cut and paint then I want to start on the Cars from the CARS movie. I believe it was Scrappile who wanted to see a 66 Ford. I hope I did it justice.

  4. I was looking for a project to cut for one of my granddaughter when I came across this Steve Good pattern and showed it to my wife. She said that is a great pattern for the granddaughter I cut this one for. I started to cut it out of Red Cedar but the sawdust would not blow from the pattern and continued to build up in front of the blade. I was using a #1 Pegas blade and no.... I was not put on upside down. It became so much of a problem, I quit cutting it and made if from BB Ply instead. I still liked it well enough but I was a little disappointed by not being able to cut it from the wood I had chosen for it. Dick heppnerguy

    My guardian angel

My trick when gluing back a piece that breaks is to after final sanding: 1. Place a piece of blue tape over the area where the piece broke. 2. Turn the work upside down on the bench or on a flat surface. 3. Check to make sure the piece will sit in the correct spot verifying the break joint fits togethers as best as possible. 4. Using tweezers, or the like, fit the piece into place so the blue tapes holes it securely in place. 5. Either using Titebond or a cyanate, apply a drop of glue to the back side, insuring it seeps into the joint crack. 6. Let set up...give it enough time, especially if using Titebond. 7. After dry, turn over and remove tape. There should be little or no glue on the surface. There may be a little bump of glue on the back that may need to be sanded down so the piece lays flat on the backer. I like to use my dremel with a sanding drum for a delicate spot like that. I have done this many times successfully.

    New Hawk has arrived

I ordered a BM-20 Hawk October 1st and I received it Friday November 12th. I was told it would be 6 to 8 weeks and it was. It was very well packaged. Setup only took about an 1 to 1 1/2 hours. I made a few cuts and was pleasantly surprised by the smooth cuts, and low vibration. I still need to learn all the new adjustments to fine tune.

    My guardian angel

Found this one in the Pattern Library, can't recall who did the pattern. My daughter looked at it and saw a wolf with raggedy ears....she now calls it the "angel wolf". I picture this as what my guardian angel looks like at the end of most days. Maybe with a bottle of something 100-proof nearby. 1" whiteboard, used two Pegas #3MG blades. Minwax "Early American" stain. Quick cut, there's not many pilot holes. There's one spot that's kinda delicate, next to her right knee, cracked when I was sanding. Glued it back on, sanded down the spot but I can never seem to get rid of any surface glue seepage no matter how deeply I sand. Thus the little white blotch.

  9. I still price my work to sell for a fair (to me) price. I can take it home, I don’t mind. I enjoy doing the craft shows. It’s fun. If someone doesn’t want to pay for it, that’s ok! I’ll still have it next time.

    First Project

I know that this is way below the level of most of you but here is my first project - almost! I used food coloring to dye the wood to make it non-toxic. Still trying to figure out which color(s) to stain the outline of the puzzle. BTW - definitely not my puzzle design!

  12. I was looking for a quick piece to cut for a new decoration and I found this one on Steve Good's page and liked it , so here is how it turned out. I only used BB Birch ply so it isn't anything really special but i still enjoyed cutting it and giving it to my wife. Dick heppnerguy

  13. A couple of weeks ago I took one of my grandsons to Tombstone, Arizona. He was very excited about the trip and had a real love for the movie "Tombstone" and very familiar with what we were about to see. He told me on the way home that he really wanted me to make him something as a reminder of our trip there, for Christmas. This is what I came up with for him and I am pretty sure he will love it when he opens it. Dick heppnerguy

    Scrollsaw baskets

$40 is not to much unless you are trying to sell to the flea market crowd. I have toy cars in my shop that sell for $35 they don't sell fast but they do sell. I only sell online and I found that if I make quality items and price them accordingly someone will buy them. At highr prices I sell less, work less, and have higher revenue. I don't have sales or discount anything except for customers that buy a lot. I have one customer that has spent about $600 in my shop this year on custom orders. This customer gets about a 20% discount but I don't tell them.

    Progress update

I didn't mean to hijack Kevin's topic regarding PS Woods Super Sharp blades but I sort of did. I showed the beginnings of a project and gave the SS blades a try on 3/4" oak. I tried #7's first and then tried the #5's but went back to the 7's. After making the initial framework using the SS blades on my Hegner saw, I had to switch saws to my EX21 because I just felt more comfortable on it. I also switched to Pegas #5 mgt blades. They are still my favorite blades. They performed so well on the 1/2" oak I can't say it enough. I'm not going to change blades in the future. They will remain my "go-to" blades. Anyway, here's where it's at so far. I cut all the 3/16" bands and it's just sitting together right now. Still have to do all the sanding and then the glue-up. This has been a fun project with a lot of head scratching to get all the angles and measurements right. The next one, if I do a next one, will be much easier.

  47. A couple of years ago, I had a stroke, resulting in loss of speech and some minor paralysis on my right side. One thing to be thankful for is using the scroll saw to improve my paralysis. The scroll saw was great therapy. This plaque was designed by me and cut on my scroll sawis made to express my feelings on being stroke survivor.. The walnut stick figure is split him into 2 pieces. It is like a puzzle where you are putting the puzzle pieces back together again. My speech is coming back, so it's back to my YouTube channel to cover various topics in this wide world of scrolling on my channel. So, I am very thankful to be a stroke survivor, who is getting many of the pieces back together and to also be a scroller which improves my coordination and allows me to express myself!
