    Bottoms up

I cut two of these for son in laws. they both enjoy their beer and it is difficult to not see an open one in their hand at any time. Luckily they don't ever get obnoxious or irritating in any way when they are drinking but when I saw this Steve Good pattern, I just knew I had to cut one for each of them. The other one I cut with an orange background, just so they would not be exactly the same. I cut both of them from BB Ply was surprised that they did not take more time to cut as the font of the letters is fairly delicate but I was happy with the way they turned out, and I hope they like them as much as I enjoyed making them. New wall hook item

I had a customer ask me on Saturday "Do you do anything soccer related? My daughter needs something to hang her medals and ribbons from." Hmmmm, good idea... I do now... I made these to display at my final 2 events of the year coming up. See if they stimulate any orders.

Something I played around with for craft shows. Each symbol includes the actual constellation which makes up that sign, with diamonds representing the main stars, and drilled holes representing the minor stars in the constellation

Must confess Jim, I'm a relative newbie, but I've joined and then left several other 'scrollsaw groups' as I personally found them unpalatable, however, this group was the first that I found on my scrollsaw journey and is now the only one I belong to.. People on here are the most helpful bunch you'll find anywhere on the planet. They've steered me through so much, what machine, what wood, how to, how not too.!! I'm tremendously indebted to this community. Very occasionally a 'squabble' rears it's head but Travis keeps us in check and then all runs smoothly again. JMO

    Some new cuts

A few new ones I finished up and finally took some photo's of them. The Cheetah is by Russ Beard, the hawk is one by Ian Thorley, the crow is by Kenny Hopkins and the LA Kings helmet is by Jeffery Flick. Thanks to all you pattern designers for letting me have so much fun. The Cheetah, LA Kings and Crow are done in 1/8 A-4 oak plywood. The hawk is done in 1/2 inch oak strips that I glued up to make a blank for cutting. All work done with flat blades from a bunch of different manufacturers. All cut on a King Canada 20 inch saw.

  9. Had first holiday market yesterday and it went well. Started out chilly and a bit slow but picked up later and was windy all day. It was only 6 hours from 9am to 3pm. Always a good event each year. Sold 17 puzzles and 19 wall racks for a total in sales of $1180. Next Saturday is at the same location and should see an increase in traffic and sales as folks officially get into the holiday shopping mood. Weather looks good, cool, but less windy. Photo of a jumbo Stegosaurus wall rack someone ordered literally as I was packing up, shown in comparison to the puzzle version.

  13. Just finished up this Christmas Train that is Steve Goods pattern. This is cut on 3/4" Poplar and I printed the pattern out on 8.5x14 paper and blew the image up to130%. Next one I'm thinking I might use some Walnut and put a clear coat on it. Thanks for looking Jim

    Trivet

I designed and cut this trivet for my wife's aunt who has cancer that will likely be terminal. I love this comforting verse from an old hymn, He Leadeth Me. I've probably sung it 1,000 times but only a couple of years ago recognized that this verse is referring to the 23rd Psalm. It's about 8" and cut in red oak.

    Couple of Oak Cuts

After cutting out 180+ Christmas ornaments I needed a change. 3/4" Oak sure cuts differently from stack cutting BB plywood. It was a nice change of pace. A couple of Steve Good's patterns. . .

    New Hawk has arrived

I may tear down my G4 motor after the holidays and check the the bearings. I don't remember ever checking them since 2005. The only issue I am having is that the connector pin at the pitman arm and lower arm keeps walking out. Have to see what that is all about.

    60th anniversary

We should be getting married because we have found the person we want to share the rest of our lives together. Marriage is not about sex only, it should be about being with each other, putting our mates first in every phase of our lives and enjoying each other for as long as God gives us. Arguments happen because no two people are exactly alike or think alike at all times. Once one of us decides the hurt is not worth the pain and accepts and confesses that to the other and asks for forgiveness, life turns back to concentrating on loving one another. Being right or more right than the other person really should never tear us apart, even for a few moments. I try to ask myself if being right really worth the hurt it can cause and that is how I try to live my life with Sharon. She is truly the most important and exciting person I have ever been blessed to know. Dick heppnerguy

Love that place, got my P-20 from them. But since moving here to Beaverton it's a bit to far for me to go just for wood. I do pretty good at the Tool Haus in Gladwin. Chris

    New Hawk has arrived

The new BM series is basically a G4 with a better motor bearing block etc. so it's really a G4 with upgrades. They claim to have issues with the G4 motors bearings getting worn / hot and snapping the motors shaft so they upgraded the motor / bearing to resolve the issue.. Also machined the uprights from solid aluminum at the back of the BM series rather than having the casted uprights.. otherwise same saw I believe.

God knows that there are enough other places to discuss any subject you can name. Let's keep this scrollsaw related as sort of a safe haven, a place to get away from things so to speak. And even then, the discussions here can sometimes be a bit testy when brands, types of blades, techniques and even how to affix a pattern are discussed. Please just state your case and avoid domination or calling out others for not doing it your way. In other words, let's be adult about things and enjoy our craft and maybe even use this forum to help and encourage others.

    My Newest

As you can see, I have caught Car Fever, I have been cutting Cars out, and in doing some research I have found several popular cars that didn't make it on any of the movies, and they have also been turned into Transformers by some loyal fans. So I have begun to make them as well. One of them has a talking dog, and the other one is orange and jumps bridges.

    60th anniversary

Thank you, my friend. We spent our entire day doing things together and Sharon said she really felt loved by it. We are like two little teenagers in puppy love. We started that way and we continue to try and put each other first in all things we do. Sometimes I get spending too much time in my shop and Sharon let's me know when she is feeling that so I stay out of it for awhile to be with her. She eventually asks me why I am not going to my shop more and encourages me to do so. Dick heppnerguy

    Rooster Clock Pattern

There are a lot of rooster wall clocks but none for scrolling. You could use one as a design and make a segmented version. A little dye or paint to make it pop.

  38. @Travis I apologize for my delay. I’m usually more prompt. They are in my workroom on a computer I haven’t been doing much on and kept forgetting to login and get them sent. I have now sent you via email a SVG file with 5 patterns. Please feel free to modify as needed. Let me know if you don’t receive them for some reason and I will try to get them sent again right away. @Foxfold Brenda, I’m not sure if you are in and out of the hospital taking care of yourself or a family member but prayers said for you and yours and hope you can find renewed energy soon.

    Red Solo Cup

Fun, useful project. I don't know if this is practiced world wide but here in Alabama it's common at a gathering to put your name on a plastic cup with a Sharpie so you can keep up with which cup is yours. Toby Keith has a song about it, "Red Solo Cup." My family usually makes up names. We're headed on a family vacation next week and my wife requested I make one of these. I added the text which is a line from the song. We don't usually have anything stronger than Dr. Pepper in ours.

    My guardian angel

Found this one in the Pattern Library, can't recall who did the pattern. My daughter looked at it and saw a wolf with raggedy ears....she now calls it the "angel wolf". I picture this as what my guardian angel looks like at the end of most days. Maybe with a bottle of something 100-proof nearby. 1" whiteboard, used two Pegas #3MG blades. Minwax "Early American" stain. Quick cut, there's not many pilot holes. There's one spot that's kinda delicate, next to her right knee, cracked when I was sanding. Glued it back on, sanded down the spot but I can never seem to get rid of any surface glue seepage no matter how deeply I sand. Thus the little white blotch.

  48. Oh no that is sad news, condolences to his wife and family. I always liked reading his post as he wrote in a redneck / country boy kinda way. Have missed him the last couple years he as hadn't posted much, but believe he went back to work as a OTR truck driver. It's sad that this Covid has taken so many lives, Also saddening is many folks don't just don't take it seriously..

    Blades from Mike

I ordered a gross of blades from Mike's Shop. Got them in the same amount of time, and all the prices stayed the same. This was a concern as I order a lot of blades. The only difference I experienced was the email Mike sent out the same or next day saying it was shipped and thinking me. Always made me feel appreciated. They did include a small paper that said the numbers had changed for customer service but that ws the only differences in the order. WTB did say they were keeping his site and prices, and I hope they continue to do so.
