  1. Amongst the many, many, ‘Tree of Life’ patterns that pop up in Pinerest, this one is always there. The pattern is very simple and took very little work to convert it into a scroll saw pattern. I sized the circle to a 10” dia so it would fit nicely on a 12” x 12” backer. I cut it out of solid core Maple Ply but decided to stain it with Krylon rattle can Rustic Brown Stain to get the dead tree look. Cutting was done with Pegas #2/0 and #0 spiral blades. The backer is Solid Core Birch left natural. After mounting the finished panel was given multiple coats of Deft Lacquer. The Frame is my typical 1 ¾” wide Poplar finished with Minwax Mission Oak Poly/Stain. Comments and critique always welcome.

  2. I'm pleased with how this one turned out. How can one man have such an awesome voice, face, and name. Not fair. Cut in 1/2 red oak with a rough cut walnut backer. 8" X 10" Not exactly a relaxing cut with lots of small pieces begging to break off. But I got to listen to a lot of his music while I cut.

  3. Finished these two yesterday. I did the Statue of Liberty out of 1/4 BB with a painted 1/8 BB backer. The frame I made from a old barn wood plank that was given to me. The skull is aspen with a oak ring and oak feathers. Any suggestions always welcome, I keep trying to improve!

  5. Instead of a larger saw for large cuts I bought a work table from the orange store that raises and lowers. It is on casters so I just roll it over to the saw and level it with the saws table, works great.

Another set done. Might try toning the orange cat colouring down. Mg#3 from poplar. Unicorn Spit for the colours.

  7. I know this is off topic but I am blown away by what some of the paints cost. My neighbor owns a body shop. Regarding the big saws I have the Hawk G4 26 and the swing has been useful until you try to turn it towards you. I would have to section my body. Is that $1399 Canadian?

    FINALLY

I finally got this downloaded so I could post it. This pattern came from the pattern library here and the maker of the pattern in "Shady Lady". I showed it to my wife and she wanted me to cut it for one of our grandkids, so here it is. This is the second one of this frame I have made and I think by the next one, I should get it right, I hope. I cut this on 1/4 in BB Birch ply and made the frame from aspen and purple heart. I enjoyed cutting it and this one I am happy enough at the finished results. Dick heppnerguy

    Cougar (puma)

My new 3D project. Truly speaking I dont know what is correct name: puma or coguar, but Etsy (marketplace) firstly deactivated my upload (it was named "Puma"), probably due to brand copyright Puma. So I called it cougar. Project size 4,5 x 5,5 x 4 inches. Video of making 3D project Puma pattern

  11. Right, I've paid upwards of $1200 for a pint of paint in the past for custom work I used to do and that was some years back.. Gotta be good at knowing how much you need to mix for the job as wasting a once get's pretty when you have a ounce leftover from job.. Once the catalyst is in it it's only good for a few hours.. I did the body shop gig for a few years.. I've had some projects that was big enough that I couldn't sit at the saw.. that swing around can get you in the gut.. and I don't even have a bigger gut.. so.. yeah my hats off to those that do those bigger projects.. I can do them.. but I don't like doing them, I'm lazy and like a sit down job, I sell a few of these guitars ( Steve Good Pattern) every couple months I have to stack cut it 3 at a time to replenish my inventory.. I think it's only about 16" or maybe it's 18" long.. But anyway, I sit but I have to scoot my stool back and lean forward to see the saw line etc.. That's about the biggest project I want to make.. sometimes dread making it.. Good seller though so... LOL

  13. I just finished a Valentine's Day project for my wife from Sue Mey pattern. It's a napkin holder. I added a red 1/8" plexi-glass backer to both sides. It cuts very well with an 80 tooth blade on the table saw and a #2 on the scroll saw. Attached to face piece with CA glue.

  15. Nice cut, I really like the backer being left natural. I have been using clear/natural stain more and more because I like to see the wood.

  16. They don't have cool colors though, Maybe I can paint my EX-21 with the leftover candy paints from a custom flames paint job I did on a Harley last summer.. Make it a 1 of a kind rare EX-21 China version.. Maybe someone would trade for a Pegas then, LOL Edit: Never mind.. that paint cost more than a new Pegas 30 inch so not a good idea, LOL

  18. Just seen Bearwood posted on FB that Pegas has a 30" saw in the works.. Hmm.. Heck, I only need the 21 and honestly wouldn't mind a 16".. Guess I don't do many large projects anymore.. Keeping my eye out for used 21"s and found one recently that I'm watching.. hoping it don't sell so I can make a offer.. With the 30 coming out maybe someone wants to upgrade to the bigger one and sell me the old one, LOL https://www.bearwood.com/product7978.html

    Home Nurse

Well I am back, I haven't been able to log on for awhile. I have been doing my best at playing Home Nurse to my Wife . She finally had Full Knee Replacement on her Left knee, And I have been playing home nurse to her, It has been a full time job. But she has been doing Fantastic. She got her staples removed today, boy they were a butch. She's able to walk better, with a walker. So maybe I can get back down to my shop and make some sawdust. and get back here to The Village and get caught up.

  23. Looks like a wall mount dust collector.. The bag is white and hard to see since the background wall is white too.. but if you look at the hose going to the metal can and another hose going off that to where ever the sawdust is being collected.. Only reason I know this is I've been looking at them, LOL.. I have the big floor model but.. I could free up floor space for the Pegas saw if I also get a wall mount collector,

  38. I am having a really difficult time getting my photos from my phone to my computer. I had my son try today and he only got one of them to me. I think he got a little confused and I am not sure if I posted this one before or not but I am going to try and get him to try an send me the other piece of work I was trying to post for the past week. This one is on I got on this pattern library, I believe, but not completely sure of that. Anyway, this was the first attempt at trying to make this particular frame. It is along way from prefect but I will get onto making them if I keep trying, you know....practice...practice....practice. OOPS..Am I getting too old for my own good. I forgot to post the picture.. Got it now though Dick heppnerguy

  42. I bought a Cameo Silhouette recently. Been experimenting with vinyl and sticker embellishment's. Scrolling is very simple, but it was more of an experiment with my craft cutter. The tag and heart are cut with a scroll saw. The "Love" is red vinyl. The Photo is a sticker with foil embossing. These are for a Valentine's Day tiered tray display.

  43. I believe this is a Steve Good pattern I made in 2020. The first one, I glued the words on backwards. If you look at in the mirror, you can read the words.

  44. Cutting a stack of thin stock rather than just one piece also helps with some strength.. A lot of folks keep the waste area and tape it back in too as mentioned above. I've never done that one before.. Not sure what size blade or how thick of material you're working with but.. sometimes going to a smaller blade than you normally use will cut slower maybe but also will be less aggressive in the wood..

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's knee surgery but happy to hear that she is recovering. I've got both knees that give me fits from time to time also. I just found some stuff that seems to help with the joint pain and inflammation. It's called MSM powder. I bought it on Amazon. a half tea spoon twice a day dissolved in warm water or whatever beverage you choose. I use warm water as it dissolves faster. Anyway, it seems to work. My knees haven't hurt for 2 days in a row.
