  2. Finished these two yesterday. I did the Statue of Liberty out of 1/4 BB with a painted 1/8 BB backer. The frame I made from a old barn wood plank that was given to me. The skull is aspen with a oak ring and oak feathers. Any suggestions always welcome, I keep trying to improve!

    Valentine Gnome

A project completed this week. The pattern is by Steve Good. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #1R MGT blades. The heart is stained with Samen Raspberry Stain. The final finish is spray Shellac with sanding between coats. A gift for Dianne. Be it Gnome that I love you.

  4. Instead of a larger saw for large cuts I bought a work table from the orange store that raises and lowers. It is on casters so I just roll it over to the saw and level it with the saws table, works great.

    Cougar (puma)

My new 3D project. Truly speaking I dont know what is correct name: puma or coguar, but Etsy (marketplace) firstly deactivated my upload (it was named "Puma"), probably due to brand copyright Puma. So I called it cougar. Project size 4,5 x 5,5 x 4 inches. Video of making 3D project Puma pattern

  10. A couple of recent cuts. The first is from the last issue of SSWW magazine, we're dog people (Great Danes, so we don't have to bend over nearly as much, but its the sentiment that counts). Cut it out of a small bamboo cutting board that was being thrown out at work. Second is the "mechanical heart" pattern from Steve Good. Gears spin. I've cut the small (pendant-sized) pattern and the larger pattern, then blew up that pattern to 150% and cut it as well. Third is a little jewelry box I did back in 2020. Another Steve Good pattern, I think. The rose was one of the toppers he had in the pattern, cut that for my wife. The dragon is for my daughter.

  11. I'm pleased with how this one turned out. How can one man have such an awesome voice, face, and name. Not fair. Cut in 1/2 red oak with a rough cut walnut backer. 8" X 10" Not exactly a relaxing cut with lots of small pieces begging to break off. But I got to listen to a lot of his music while I cut.

  18. Amongst the many, many, ‘Tree of Life’ patterns that pop up in Pinerest, this one is always there. The pattern is very simple and took very little work to convert it into a scroll saw pattern. I sized the circle to a 10” dia so it would fit nicely on a 12” x 12” backer. I cut it out of solid core Maple Ply but decided to stain it with Krylon rattle can Rustic Brown Stain to get the dead tree look. Cutting was done with Pegas #2/0 and #0 spiral blades. The backer is Solid Core Birch left natural. After mounting the finished panel was given multiple coats of Deft Lacquer. The Frame is my typical 1 ¾” wide Poplar finished with Minwax Mission Oak Poly/Stain. Comments and critique always welcome.

    Clocks

I think the Hummingbird is looking good in Cherry. Will post a picture when done. Doing a couple others in Cherry. I like the various colors in Poplar for certain items. I think some of the puzzles look really good with the variations. But it also can take away from an item.

  26. I just finished a Valentine's Day project for my wife from Sue Mey pattern. It's a napkin holder. I added a red 1/8" plexi-glass backer to both sides. It cuts very well with an 80 tooth blade on the table saw and a #2 on the scroll saw. Attached to face piece with CA glue.

  27. When I was doing portrait work i liked keeping count or close count of the entry holes.. The look on peoples faces when you know how many holes you drilled and cut.. Some folks that give them some perspective as many times they'll say.. Wow! that must have taken a long time.. . And the way I did it was to drill 10 - 20 holes at a time and write a tally mark on my pattern then when done I can add up the marks.. Standing at the drill press to drill them all at once isn't fun so doing X amount helps break up the work.. plus it keeps me from sitting at the saw for too long as I have to get up to make more holes, LOL

    Climbing Cats

That is pretty cool how the cats head becomes the shape between the legs of another cat. The orange cat does stand out quite a bit. But it is good for halloween. If you do tone it down consider making it a calico. Thats another way of reducing the orange.

  32. I bought a Cameo Silhouette recently. Been experimenting with vinyl and sticker embellishment's. Scrolling is very simple, but it was more of an experiment with my craft cutter. The tag and heart are cut with a scroll saw. The "Love" is red vinyl. The Photo is a sticker with foil embossing. These are for a Valentine's Day tiered tray display.

  33. We don't do too much concerning Valentine's Day, but my bride and I do work together in the shop and come up with some interesting ideas. Working together daily is better than simply noticing one another on holidays in my opinion. Here is an idea my wife had, and she wanted to use some exotics for it. I decided to use nothing but domestic scraps. By the way, scraps are nothing more than materials we haven't found a use for yet. These were glued up after we took them out of the kindling bin. Not the exotic hardwoods she wanted but since she is happy with the results, win win,
