    Kokopelli Band

I needed a fourth statue to fill an open box in the cabinet next to my desk and have been meaning to cut a Kokopelli for a long time. I have a few different Kokopelli patterns on file, but for this Statue I needed something different. I did find many images on-line and did use two different Kokopelli images I found, to use for the basic outline. However, I added my own designs and put two together to form this Statue I call Kokopellie Band. My final version is 13” tall and 11” wide cut from ¾” Red Oak. I added tenons to the feet of the statues that fit into mortises in the Base. I used my table saw to make the tenons about a half a blade width narrower than the ¾” thickness of the statue. Cutting was relatively easy and done with Pegas #5 MGT blades. The base is about a 3 ½” wide x 11” long x ¾” thick oval with about a four-degree perimeter bevel all around eased at the top with a small round over router bit. All statue edges were eased with my Dremel using sanding drums followed by a good deal of hand sanding using 200 grit up to 1500 grit final sanding before finishing. Finishing was my typical multiple coats of clear gloss Deft Spray Lacquer. As always, comments and critiques are welcome.

  5. Hi everyone, just thought I would show you a couple of pieces I just did on my new Pagas 21 from Denny. So far it runs great and is very quiet. These are Steve Good Patterns. The flower stand chair isn't sanded or glued yet ,so you might see some fuzzies. I just put it together to see if everything fits. Now I'll go sand it and paint it white.

  6. Trivet #1 and Trivet #2 of a set of 8 designed by Sue Mey and finally finished. The Trivet #1 wood is 1/2" Walnut 8" square. The Trivet #2 wood is 1/2" Cherry 8" square. Cut on the Pegas scroll saw using Pegas #3R MGT blades. After sanding, dipped in BLO, dried for a day, sanded again, dipped in BLO again, final sanding and then a light rubbing with paste wax. Comments welcome.

    Abbey Road

I cut Abbey Road again for a friend. The red oak and walnut worked well together for this one.

  8. I too have an extensive collection of Creative Woodworks and Crafts with a few as far back as the late 90's. I have thought about getting rid of them but then I think I might want to cut something out of one of them. I do sit down and go through some and pick out some patterns that I overlooked before. Rick

  12. Like you guys, I too had wondered about Paul @Scrappile and I had checked his profile a few days ago and had seen he had been online recently. I know from time to time he takes a break from regularly posting. Hope he knows we miss him when he does, but we understand as well.

  16. Very nice. I ordered the plans myself. They had a 35% discount if you order 2 or more,, so...... I just had to order 2! Not sure if I have anything thick enough for the bodies beside 2"x6" Pine. I have some 1" Cherry, Walnut, and Padauk. But I really don't want to do any glue ups. I may have some 2" thick Cedar. Oh, and some 6" thick Cypress. I still need to order some wheels and axles.

    Scroll Saw Magazine

Works fine today. Must have been something on my net locally that wouldn't allow me access.

  20. Thankyou for that Information Melanie. I have glanced at the magazine at a store a handful of times but have never purchased one. I guess that I should do so and attempt to determine how much it might be worth to me.

    Scroll Saw Magazine

Frank, there is not. Each of those 6 CDs have a couple or so years on them. They do not have the last few years out yet. (I forget what the last one covers through.) Besides Buying physical back issues of the magazines (if available, not all issues are) this is the only way to obtain the issues and patterns.

  22. Don, what I found at that link was 6 different CDs each costing $35 (US). That means I would need to spend $210 (US) in order to get all 72 issues. That's away more than I want to spend. Is there one CD somewhere with all he issues? I would pay a reasonable amount for that.

    Is Alex Fox Safe?

I've bought 3-4 more Alex patterns last day or two. Told him that I hope he can still get paid. Just got a message from Alex about an hour ago...sounds like things are going downhill fast in his neighborhood (Kherson). It's getting late over there so I probably won't hear anything till tomorrow. I pray for the safety of him and his family. Hi, The Russians occupied Kherson and entered the city, including heavy equipment (tanks, armored personnel carriers). All entrances and exits in the city are blocked, during the last shelling, some rockets hit residential buildings, I don’t know if there were casualties. There was a fire in the largest mall in Kherson (I don’t know whether it was arson or a rocket hit), but when the fire truck arrived, they fired at it, the firemen managed to escape. In general, the situation is very complicated.
