  1. In the progress of cutting another pattern by Jim Blume, '' Roaring Cat '' . Looks like this after about 20 hrs and 200 entry cuts . The mouth part is cut out except a few spots to keep it there till all the rest of the pattern is cut out, to protect the whiskers from being broken off, very delicate.

  3. done my way, lol! Very thin wood 1/8" 3 ply craft wood from the dollar store. #3 scroll reverse blade from flying dutchman primed ,painted glitter rattle can paint, and triple coated poly. Magneto font, titebond 2 glue under all the glitter and a thin thin coating on the 2020 and then I use a pencil to clean up the numbers of excess glitter. I dip what ever gets glitterd on to waiting wet glue and it sticks just the right amount of glitter and then tap the ornament to shed the excess on to a piece of copy paper and the back in the bottle. I want to get long smaller covered boxes to have what I need when I need it. This year I have used more glitter than since I joined SSV thanks to RDatelle!

  4. I just finished a little gift for a very special relative that went out of his way to fix my GMC Yukon Trailer Towing vehicle when we broke down while we were on vacation and down in his neck of the woods visiting him and his wife. He is a Mechanic by trade and owns his own Business . He took my rig into his shop, diagnosed the problem, fixed it, plus he even topped off my Air Conditioning unit with Fluid. When I asked him what the charges were he said "Nothing"! He wouldn't let me pay him for his time and efforts nor for the use of his shop! He said "That's what Family does for Family! He is a Native American and his spirit animal is a Bald Eagle, so when I saw this pattern on Steve Good's website I just knew immediately that I wanted to make it for such a special relative in thanks for his help! Fox shadowbox

I have not posted new patterns for a while, now I have enough free time for drawing, but it is psychologically difficult to return to normal activities when you constantly hear explosions outside the window. Now selling patterns is the only income for my family, so I continue making patterns and here is new one - Fox shadowbox. Project size 7,5 x 7,5 inches, 5 layers 1/8 inch. 7. I can't tell you how great the service is from Artcraftersonline.com enough. I ordered another set of Pegas chucks on Tuesday. It's Friday and I have them in hand. That's from Tennessee to So. Cal. in 3 days. I'm truly surprised at the USPS too. They are usually slow but they have stepped it up. Thanks Denny Knappen for the great service. And a 15% discount to boot.

  8. No I haven't Dick. The War Office doesn't like "Dust Collectors" I would probably agree with you about the clock, as they don't tend to serve any purpose these days with every appliance and electronic item having a clock. I do think it is interesting how the pendulum is a gondolier, (that's what it looks like anyhow )

  9. Where did you get the Padauk? I have never seen wood color bleed like that. I have had issues when sanding with the sanding dust discoloring the neighboring wood. It almost looks as if the the wood was dyed to enhance it. I would think the color is part of the wood and not soluble. I would put a piece of the scrap in the same solution and see if the color bleeds out.

  11. As far as missing out on the buy four get one free - if you do the math, 15% off is real close to that.

  28. Seriously doubt it is coming apart short of cutting the layers apart with a band saw. Best advice is to call it a learning experience and to use it as is

  29. That's a real bugger Ray. My 1st option for recovery of the piece, is to stain it all to match the darker timber. Not as pretty but you will still have a nice item. As for taking it apart! What type of Weldwood did you use. The contact cement, you may be able to release the pieces by soaking in Turps, or thinner. If it is the epoxy or PVA I would say you are buggered. You would have to decide that the project is a stuffed and you can't stuff it up any more then it already is, so just do your best to gently pry of the top and bottom. With a little luck you will have a number of reusable layers and with a lot you will be able reuse them all. Good Luck

  38. That would be the PVA. It is typically stronger than the timber.
