  2. We had our first clock sale 2 weeks ago (it took a few days to get the process down). A big thank you and shout out to @kmmcrafts for all the information relating to the drill bit size and clock insert as well as providing access to the insert! Also a shout out to every one who offered suggestions on mounting items. I went with a dowel for the clock tower and polyurethane glue for the dragon (this glue is now my go to for difficult glue ups!) Made from blond Poplar, measures 9 1/2" base x 6" height with a 2" clock tower insert with spray acrylic coating. I left enough room on the insert tower for engraving should the customer want in the future. Thanks as always in advance for reading

    Blanket Ride

This is the 5th of my Peanuts calendar puzzles. Used a more "traditional" piece cut on this one. Seems my "figure 8" cut is a bit too challenging with pictures that have so much plain background color. 11.25” x 12” 272 pieces

    My latest project

I’m making the wife a flower box that looks like the wood box on an old Case steam engine and these are going on the ends of it. My dad was a Case tractor dealer and the wife and I both worked for Case here in Iowa. The eagle was called Old Abe. He has been the symbol for Case tractors since the beginning in the 1800s.

    VW's and Caravans

I had these two VW's I made quite a while ago, and decided they needed something extra to take to markets so a couple Tear Drop caravans became the order of the day. The complete unit measures about 330mm in length.

  7. Whicman, checked as per John suggestion the blade at the back was about 1/64” out on the blade alignment (front & back) adjusted my pin less blade adaptors I made, rechecked everything for square to the table top, all good, remade my blade holders during the week and am not getting any blade slippage, done some test cuts and the cuts are dead straight, so for now it looks good will have to do some more cutting to be absolutely sure.

That river board is really nice. Was learning to do the epoxy challenging? I have been thinking about trying my hand at it but with the cost of the epoxy I have been hesitant.

  10. Sorry to sound contrite, but I think a simple solution may be to slow your cutting speed. High speed equal ahressive cutting. Also. Possible tooooooo agressive blade selection for the wood you are cutting. Thin wood means use small blade.

    The Book of Inkscape

My local library has the book, the original published in 2009, version .47 was released in 2009 so there is a lot of missing information.

  13. John, thanks for that it worth looking at considering that I have checked about as much as I can, if I do see movement on the wood then I’ll strip it down again and recheck. The back of the saw is tilted 4” as recommended on another site, I don’t thick that matters, I don’t know I only recently changed to the tilt position, for the past year I always cut with the saw flat on the stand, someone on the other group I belong to suggested lowering the saw a bit but I don’t think that has anything to do with the way the saw is cutting.

    Finished Audrey.

Recognize these eyes? I’ll give you a hint. They’re not mine. I used a watercolor painting image from Google that was nearly scrollable as is for a pattern “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” Audrey Hepburn

  15. Please I need help I saw on the web the other day that you can buy the tension rod nuts separately, like a idiot I forgot to save the site. I’m looking for the top nut the one that does the tensioning. I have a local guy who can make them, he says it will take him half an hour and wants $11 for a threaded nut. So I want to compare prices, because, although the saw is cutting fine and I got about 5 hours of scrolling in today, I’m still not happy, so I believe after checking everything, that the threaded nut has been hurt, hence I want to replace it and keep a few spares.

  20. Wayne, While I scroll I spend the time listening to music, but most importantly I sit and scroll and have conversations with God, the Holy Spirit focuses my eyes and places his hands on mine and we scroll together. I’m self taught there’s no scroll saw help here in S A.

  21. I bought a book on Gimp many years ago. I tried learning from the book. I still know nothing about Gimp. The videos are far better. A classroom would be best. I'd love to find a class on Inkscape.

  25. Have you checked the blade for square to the table front to back?, if the top of the blade is positioned either in front or behind the bottom of the blade, you will get more aggressive cutting. This can be caused by a misalignment when putting the saw back together, by clamping at the wrong place on the blade clamp or reversing one of the blade clamps. Are you using pinned blades or pin less? If you are using pin less blades try some pinned or the reverse. See if there is a change. Let us know how it goes, what works and what doesn't.

  26. Don, I know bugger all about that model of saw, but it sounds to me like the blade has a lot of backward and forward motion. I don't know if there is a way of adjusting this on a Wen. Move the blade to it's lowest point and place a piece of wood or a rule against the back of it, then move the blade to it's highest point and see how much the wood moved or the gap between it and the blade. That's about all I have to offer, sorry mate. Hope you get it sorted soon

    Pheonix Rising

I was looking for something different and found this Pheonix Rising image that I was able to convert to a Scroll Saw Pattern. I had to modified it significantly to make it scrollable and I did add some of my own embellishment’s. The cut panel is 5/32” x 12” x 15” Hand Painted Solid Core Maple affixed to a 1/4” x 12” x 15” Hand Painted BB Ply backer. I finished the assembled panel with multiple coats of Deft Clear Gloss Lacquer. The Frame is my typical 1 3/4” wide Poplar finished with Black Lacquer. My unbiased (Yeah, I know) Lady thinks it is great…I, on the other hand being my own worst critic, am not too happy with the overall finish work. Mostly the painting. OK, Comments and Critique appreciated.

Thanks! It really wasn't that difficult. It's only the second one I've made. Only been wood working since November so I don't think it should be that difficult for most people in here. It does take a lot of patience and time (mostly sanding)!

  35. I decided to mis-use another @alexfox's pattern, Wolf. I needed it on top of my new black walnut cowboy hat. Ok, I have a maple cowboy hat, so I needed a dark hat. Black walnut has magic to it. I am refering to another post. Me. Mark Eason

    Advices

And then there are those of us who use them routinely. Jig saw puzzle cutting requires a thin kerf so the puzzle doesn’t have a lot of slop in it. 2/0 or 3/0 blades fit that bill nicely.

  48. An Alex Fox Basket C-12 completed yesterday. I used 1/4" solid Hard Maple. Cut on the Pegas scroll saw using Pegas #1R MGT blades. Actually, only one blade. The finish is two coats spray Lacquer Clear Gloss with sanding between coats. Comments welcome.
