    4 Good Hours

Attended a Market at the Goldfields Art Centre today from 10am - 2pm. It was inside, nice and cool. Not busy but steady. $40 for the stall. The stall looked a lot lighter on at 2pm, but I had $700+ dollars in the sky rocket. A good day all around.

    Bench

As some of you may know I set about building a new bench/stand from my King 16" I got last fall. After much planning and thinking on it I came up with what is in the picture. I wanted something heavy so I could minimize vibration. It made from (8) 2X4's and weights about 40 pounds. Best thing was I had the 2X4's on hand as I had purchased 37 of them prior to covid for a project that never got off ground, they were just hanging out in my garage. The center leg is not so wide as to make me uncomfortable while cutting. It's solid as a rock. No plans really, just started with an idea in my head and ran with it. Chris

  3. Wanted to make a little something to give my mother on Mother's Day. This is a Steve Good pattern cut on 1/4 birch finished with natural stain and several coats of clear with light sanding between coats. The back is pine painted green or red in appropriate areas. I actually cut this double stack and the other one will go to my wife. Steve's pattern calls for a 1/4 inch rectangle around the outside edge but the wife liked it better without. I've said before, happy wife, happy life! I wish the lady members of the forum a Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks to JR42 for making the pattern for me. A long time (child hood) friend of my wife likes Gunsmoke as much as I do. Only she has different eyes for Matt. Cut with #3 FD spiral blade. Also first time adding burning to a project. I felt Matt needed to be a bit dirty.

  6. From, "The Guns Of Will Sonnett." Walter Brennan was also in The Real McCoys, Sergeant York, and lots of Western movies. The biggest thing I remember from watching The Guns Of Will Sonnett with my dad was his tagline, "No brag, just fact." I thought it was so cool.

  7. I met a cabinet maker a few month ago through the VFW. He started saving some of his cutoffs for me and I picked them up yesterday. Started sorting thru it and this is what I sorted out so far. The left side is Alder, the right is Oak. Just getting started, I’ll be at this all day

    Blanket Ride

This is the 5th of my Peanuts calendar puzzles. Used a more "traditional" piece cut on this one. Seems my "figure 8" cut is a bit too challenging with pictures that have so much plain background color. 11.25” x 12” 272 pieces

Just a side note. I seen a show that compared all the actors in movies and tv past an present. To see who had the fastest gun draw. The fastest an the one who could handle the gun the best was Sammy Davis JR.

  12. It took a little longer as life kept getting in the way. I went thru the pattern library here on SSV and found a pattern by Janevski. I tried putting a different spin on it. Still learning as far as paint and shaping are concerned, but overall it came out pretty good. Chris

  16. Hi, I am very amazed with your club.........interesting, very well done. I can't believe I didn't find about you all sooner. I was a founding member and life member of SAW ( Scroll saw Association of the World), but it died a few years because of poor management. We lost one major scroll saw magazine a few years ago and the one left has turned into a CRAFT magazine. They have no idea what scrolling really is.....very disappointing. I look forward to participating in your club.....looks like a lot of fun. Only problem, I am not very good with the dam computer so will need help....Lol I am 87 year old and do not want to learn anything new. I have a lot of scroll saw patterns and projects that I designed over the years. I would like to share them with the club if you are interested. I had planned to publish a few books with them but books are being phased out by the internet and all the free patterns and plans they offer. Also I am too old to start over. A few years ago I can up with a method to add color to scrolling. (Mose scrollers are not artist so do not do projects that need art details.) My "process" actually uses a process Fisher-Price Toy Company used back in the 40's before plastic toys. I THINK your members would be interested. Let me know what you think. Perhaps, with some help I could do a "How to" article ? Let me know if interested. I am still exploring your website........( I am a slow learner). Have a great day, John

  26. The common courtesy that I try to follow is to share a direct link to where a pattern can be found if I can. If I can’t find the direct link, I would try to give a link back as best I can so here to the Village in general if I knew that was where I had found it. So, For example, if it’s a JGR pattern (or another one I had purchased somewhere), I would share the direct link to the pattern so it can be purchased. If I couldn’t give the direct link, I would give the link to her home page. I would do the same even when the pattern has been shared for free somewhere. For example, if it’s a Steve Good pattern, I would first try to find the original blog post where he shared the pattern and provide the direct link back to it. If I couldn’t easily find it, I would provide a link back to his home page of his blog. in this instance, I would do as you did, say where I had gotten the original pattern from, the Scrollsaw Village website, and then provide a direct link back to where it can be found here. (I signed out and checked and you would need to be a member and signed in to access patterns shared it looks like so they would need to join to be able to see and download.) So, for the pattern in question here, I would post a link back to it here and note you would need to be a member or join in order to see and download from here: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/44200-two-heads-and-entwined-bodies-pdfs/ However, since in this instance, I also happen to know that Frankorona actually first made and shared the original Image that FrankEV used to made the pattern from, I would also share that note with the link to the pattern thread indicating such so he was acknowledged as the source for the image and photo Frank used to make the pattern from (as Frank noted when he first shared his own photos of the piece he cut here): https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/44162-two-heads/#comment-475942 And this next thread is where Frankorona first shared his images the month prior (noting he used photo from the internet, so not his original image either ) and from which Frank made the pattern from (because Frankorona didn’t have an actual pattern to share, just his photo but gave Frank permission to create the pattern.) https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/44050-modernist-figures/#comment-474724 In this instance, sharing those three links may seem excessive to some, but to me, it’s all needed to give proper credit to Frankorona for first sharing his photo of his work, then giving Frank permission to use his photo to create his own version and to then share the pattern Frank created with members of the village. I feel it is important to give proper credit so in this particular instance, that credit would be to both Frankorona and then Frank. Normally, it would not be quite so “complicated” however. The only time I might “share” directly would be if someone had given specific permission to post and share elsewhere on the pattern it’s self. (I have seen this done). However, even then I would still attempt to give a link back if I could. Since the patterns shared here are shared by members for members of the village, in my humble opinion, I would not post one I downloaded from here somewhere else or pass it on to someone but would point them back to where they could find it just as I would if it was a pattern I had purchased.

    Shop Projects

I was a substitute teacher for 12 years in elementary schools and also found that kids don't realize they are learning when they are having fun. I try to incorporate that into all the toys I have been making. I saw this puzzle as math, science, critical thinking and pattern recognition. This puzzle is going to a little three-year old boy who is basically non-verbal but loves dinos - I hope it will help bring him out of his shell.

  30. Thanks Barb. I've tried using the clamp but it just didn't work out. Maybe I'll give it another try or figure out a better clamp. One of the 2 long cuts on the side either starts or ends in such a way that the clamp side is in the way. Maybe a small relief cutout on the clamp wall would help. Now you have me thinking. Thanks. My brain gets fogged often so I need folks like you to blow away the haze. Lol.

  36. Nice work as always, I need to get some more of those patterns from Scott.. I ran out of the patterns I have of his making them as clocks.. Of coarse I've been busy with a million other non-woodworking projects the last 3 or so weeks.. and I seem to have at least another 2-4 weeks probably before I can get back at it. I'm glad I was able to help you out with the clock info and getting you a clock insert.

They are all glued, no screws or nails. I'm thinking I will want to add some extra support under the table to support the top over time.
