    finish this bison

I have been busy in the shop and with other things and have not posted most of the projects I have completed lately. I get then done and mail them off and forget to even take photos of them. I remembered to photograph this item I made that is going to the National Parks Dept., I believe in South Dakota. The person who ordered it should be receiving it today, I believe. This is a Judy Gale Robert's pattern and I got lucky as it was on sale for $5. My timing was right about that. I have not done very many intarsia pieces for awhile but I am happy with how this one came out Dick heppnerguy

  2. At our club a couple of wood turners started to turn Soda Can Covers. They are to protect getting in bugs and wasps when outdoors or woodchips in the workshop. They started out fairly plain but they got fancier and fancier. One was even in the shape of a bowler hat and one as a poop emoji. Works for beer cans too. Then the scroller has to get involved and take it to the next level that only a scroller can to with personalized covers. Made from Maple with a died birch veneer as a backer and baked FIMO clay for the initials.

    A FrankEV pattern

I liked your pattern Frank so I took a try at it. Cut from 1/4 Maple with a 1/8BB backer using a #2 spiral blade. I made the frame from alder and stained it. I must say the painting was challenging-getting the colors in the right place on the backer was time consuming. I probably went about the hard way

Even though I haven't post anything I have been working but I have also been teaching a 19yo girl to scroll and she is loving it. Any way here are a few things I have made. They are all Sue Mey patterns. The first Christmas Bells are made from 2.5mm Bamboo, the second ones are made from 4mm pine and so are the gnomes. They are all for a Christmas in July driveway market at my daughters. Marg

    How Many Pups..

Well, just for kicks, I decided to do an inventory of all the dog breeds that I take to events in puzzle form. I display 47 and have another 63 less popular breeds in a bin to show when asked. I enjoy saying "Yep, I have 100 breeds with me today." And now I can start saying 110 since I now know exactly how many I do have. With the exception of maybe 3 or 4, I have sold at least one of every one. It's worth it as I get asked at virtually every event for an unusual breed and 9 times out of 10, the person is ecstatic to see their breed and will buy it.

    1st Cube Tissue Box

Thanks to @FrankEV for giving me a nudge along, I finished this tonight as a gift for the school bursar, (Karen) as she is leaving tomorrow. I like cutting things fine This is the first cube type tissue box that I made. There where lots of paper and printouts trying to get the design and dimension looking correct. It is made from 12mm pine with Jarrah trim. Has Royal Blue felt fixed to 3mm ply as a lining and backing to the cut outs.| Finished with 3 coats 30% gloss lacquer Mary and the Southern Cross is the school logo Don't know what I did to the pics this time, they came out small ?

    Sometime nothing works

Three things I love about scrolling: 1. Producing works of art (at least in my eyes) 2. It reinforces, sometimes painfully, that I am not perfect! 3. I forget what the third thing is ............ Scroll on, Eric. Scroll on!!!

  14. Most make puzzles or leash / key racks from these patterns.. I make them into clocks.. or ornaments. As of a little over a year ago I'm no longer a pet parent.. Miss my dogs and cats but really allergic to cats and dogs bother me some too, now that the kids are kinda grown and wanting to start doing some traveling etc. we have not took on the pet parent responsibility just yet.. SO, I just make them from wood and sell them.

I do like the gnomes. They have nice colors also. . A 19 year old is interested. That is amazing. I noticed that a bell has a face. Is this suppose to have a mean face ?

    My latest project

When I first started reading this Dale, I thought "Now here's either a tough bloke or a suicidal one" Like buying my Missus a drill for Mother's Day After noting that she also worked for the company I did breath a sigh of relief A beautiful and colourful project mate.

    My latest project

I’m making the wife a flower box that looks like the wood box on an old Case steam engine and these are going on the ends of it. My dad was a Case tractor dealer and the wife and I both worked for Case here in Iowa. The eagle was called Old Abe. He has been the symbol for Case tractors since the beginning in the 1800s.

    Bruce Dern

Bruce Dern as Asa "Long Hair" Watts from the 1972 John Wayne film, "The Cowboys." One of the meanest, back shooting baddies in the West. Love to hate him.

    Sometime nothing works

I think something similar happens to all of us. I have spent several hours cutting a double stack piece today when I decided to sand some of the burrs of the back. When I flipped it over I realized some of the fragile lettering had torn out. If it had been one or two pieces I would have tried to find the pieces and repair them but there were probably half a dozen and I had already vacuumed earlier. Regardless, Eric. You cutting is great. You've come a long way in a short time!

    A FrankEV pattern

I think you did a splendid job on this. Colorizing it from the backerboard to show through in all the right places can be a real challenge alright. Especially when some of the lines are very small and close to something that has to be a different color. It all looks so nice and you should be proud to hang this one on the front room wall for others to admire when they visit you. Dick heppnerguy

    VW's and Caravans

I had these two VW's I made quite a while ago, and decided they needed something extra to take to markets so a couple Tear Drop caravans became the order of the day. The complete unit measures about 330mm in length.
