  3. I had an idea for a Christmas pattern that I didn't get to do last year. I don't know what will happen tomorrow, let alone what will happen in six months, so I made it now. It is simple Christmas tree puzzle which consists of 9 smaller ones. Also you can use them as separate Christmas ornaments or home decoration (pattern includes variant with loop for hanging) Video of making project Christmas treee puzzle pattern

    Father's Day

Happy Father's day to all the dads in our group. I got the inspiration for these pieces while browsing some website and just kinda winged it, so I do not have a pattern source. (P.s. I know there should not be a apostrophe in "dads"....but I had already cut it before I realized I'm an idiot....lol)

  8. I have one on a Shopsmith bandsaw. It works, but you can't set it up according to Cater's instructions. Shopsmith bandsaws do not work the same way as most other bandsaws. It takes some practice, and you will not get smooth cuts as a scroll saw. It is not going to turn your bandsaw into a Pegas scrolling bandsaw. With the Carter Stabilizer, you can cut much tighter turns with less risk of damaging your blade. The Carter Stabilizer is for use with narrow blades only. If you resaw, you must change the guides to use your resaw blade or have a second bandsaw. I have two bandsaws. I cut these with it.

    Hi Jack!

Bonjour tout le monde, I'm satisfied (a little) of this first experience for me. I cut this board from a photograph. I made the pattern with an application. I think redo projects like that time to time. You can tell if it's bad Eric

  13. Hi Kev: I like John B's method - add a tag to it - have to agree with the above about the tag Your work is awesome, so take the extra time it takes to make it look right even if it is only the backside it will only benefit you in the end. One last thing - does the hole have to be that big for the hanger? Keep up the great work Kev Fab4

  14. This is what I’ve done to one of my planers. Laminate makes a great base. If it ever gets gouged it can easily be replaced.

  15. I tie a tag to my decorations so that the purchaser and if a gift, the recipient can see where it was made etc. It is easily removable. The tree decorations typically revolve when hung on tree, so the back will be visible. You will not find a sticker or branding on any of our decorations as the 1st thing I do when I get one is to remove them before hanging.

  16. I have one on a 10" Rikon. It works ok and does help to make tighter turns. I keep the blade tension high when I use it with narrow blades. it is not a miracle worker.

  17. I have one. It is not magic, but I think it works much better than not having one.

  18. Here's the thing for me... First I agree with the "not a fan of the sticker" but I think for a different reason Reputation is everything IMO, and you do some incredible work. Putting a sticker on it, "cheapens" it in my eyes and is beneath the quality and reputation you have built. Hope that didn't offend

  19. Kev, I think I would have preferred the hand signing. I think the sticker makes it look "cheap". Not really the word I am looking for but not sure what works better. It just looks "wrong".

    Peacock for my wife

I ran across this pattern on a European scroll saw page and asked where I could buy the pattern. I was drawn into it at first sight. I never received an answer but posted that I was looking for it. Luckily someone responded and I was able to get the pattern. It was in a format that I have never seen and I was unable to use it. I have a good friend who was able to change it into a format that I could use. After I got it printed, I decided I was not skilled enough to make it. I was kidded a lot about when i was going to make the project. So I finally decided I would at least give it a try. This is the end results and fortunately for me, my wife really liked it and it is now hanging on our front room wall. Each feather has 50 holes and there are about 36 feathers in the project. That meany each feather was going to take in the neighborhood of an hour to cut. Well long story shortened, I finally got through the project. I was not happy with the painting on the body of the bird, but other than that, I am happy with the overall results. Dick heppnerguy

    Americana 12 (2 of 2)

This is the second of Americana 12 by Jim Blume. This is pretty much the same as the first cut, Oak ply stained natural, black backer, except the truck was tinted with Minwax Expresso stain rather than watercolor paint. Again, the frame is actual framing material with gray wash and a little natural stain to darken it up just a touch.

  26. In all my years, I purchased only 2 Mac Mops. The second one is still going strong. At $43 for many years use, it is a bargain. This is the one I purchased. Klingspor Abrasives Spindle Mounted Mac Mop, 240 Grit 7"x 2"x 1/4" Spindle (woodworkingshop.com)

  27. As always, I thank you all for the input and information. Yes, I know it won't be the same as a Pegas scrolling band saw. I was trying to get as close as possible with a minimum investment. I have a Grizzly G055 which I am trying to convert to cut finer cuts. Now I am in search of 1/16" band saw blades.

  28. Is this what you are referring too as star wheel? https://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/dy93022/ This is what I was looking at and what I thought would work best for the type of sanding I'm looking to do.. I don't have a issue with fuzzies much either and when I do they are easily wipe clean with my orbital sander and or hand held map gas torch.. https://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/fs36999e/ I'm a cheapskate too, or at least try to be.. gotta splurge once in a while but.. LOL.. anyway that is why I have not bought a sanding mop yet, wanted one for about 10 years now.. but these HF sanding balls are cheap, last a long time.. but I wish it was a bit more aggressive.. 80grit is the most aggressive one they sell.. and in my orbital sander papers it would be more like 280 - 320 grit instead of 80 LOL.. The HF ball is on a mandrel.. I've thought about taking an old one apart and using sanding mop refills on the HF Ball mandrel.. Not sure if it'd work right for me.. not wanting to spend 2 hours fiddling with it to save $20 -$30, LOL kind of pointless then. LOL

    Father's Day

Nicely cut! As far as I recall from grammar lessons [mumblemumble] years ago, having an apostrophe s makes it possessive. The garage/workshop belong to Dad. Without the apostrophe, its just plural. Multiple dads in this garage/workshop. From what I can tell these days...none of that matters anyway. LOL

  35. Kevin, when I’m engraving multiples I use a "L" shaped piece weighted down so I doesn’t move to line things up. I set the inside corner of the "L" as my home position and then do a perimeter scan to make sure the engraving is going where I want it to. Once set you simply carefully slide the blanks into corner of the "L" and repeat your burn.

  36. Al, the plaque on the left has all the veining cut. Just might not be apparent in the picture. My purpose of using the laser was to see how it would look if the veining stood out more. I don’t want to give up the scrolling (p)art of it but for someone not into or appreciating the cut veining they would only visualize something difficult to see. Besides, my laser isn’t powerful enough to easily cut through 1/4” ply. Also, I cut the inner rings at an angle so they will push out about half the thickness to give it a 3-D look (like this) …

  44. Most make puzzles or leash / key racks from these patterns.. I make them into clocks.. or ornaments. As of a little over a year ago I'm no longer a pet parent.. Miss my dogs and cats but really allergic to cats and dogs bother me some too, now that the kids are kinda grown and wanting to start doing some traveling etc. we have not took on the pet parent responsibility just yet.. SO, I just make them from wood and sell them.
