Commission work

I got an order for a charcuterie board at my craft show last fall that I could not do it at the time because I was going to Florida for the winter. So I finally got to it because a few days of rain stopped the golf for awhile. So it turned out that the order for one board is now 2 boards. Times are tough less golf more sawdust and epoxy. Peacock for my wife

I ran across this pattern on a European scroll saw page and asked where I could buy the pattern. I was drawn into it at first sight. I never received an answer but posted that I was looking for it. Luckily someone responded and I was able to get the pattern. It was in a format that I have never seen and I was unable to use it. I have a good friend who was able to change it into a format that I could use. After I got it printed, I decided I was not skilled enough to make it. I was kidded a lot about when i was going to make the project. So I finally decided I would at least give it a try. This is the end results and fortunately for me, my wife really liked it and it is now hanging on our front room wall. Each feather has 50 holes and there are about 36 feathers in the project. That meany each feather was going to take in the neighborhood of an hour to cut. Well long story shortened, I finally got through the project. I was not happy with the painting on the body of the bird, but other than that, I am happy with the overall results. Dick heppnerguy1 point -
For a good friend

I have a good friend that I met shortly after we moved to Southern Arizona. He has purchased several of my wood projects and he had his 82nd birthday this week. One time while in my shop, he saw a plaque I had made for myself and mentioned how much he liked it. so for his birthday, I made one for him too. He had it hanging on his wall the same day he received it. If you are old enough you may remember these greyhound scenicruisers. Dick heppnerguy1 point -
Thanks Pard. I just reoiled it and also put it on a black matt backer, and it stands out better.1 point

Did you contact Carter? They have them for the Shopsmith bandsaw, so I can't imagine they would not have one that fits a Grizzly.1 point

I looked at the10 Million Dollar Stick when they first came out with it. It makes me use my hand instead of properly clamping the piece. If you typically hold the wood on your miter saw with your hand, the 10 Million Dollar Stick probably looks like a good idea. My miter saw has a clamp for holding the wood in place. Using a couple of blocks and a hardwood stick, I can clamp anything I need to the saw, from a board to a 1/2-inch piece of wood. Smaller if I don't mind cutting into my hold down. At $27, I think it is a waste of money.1 point

I had an idea for a Christmas pattern that I didn't get to do last year. I don't know what will happen tomorrow, let alone what will happen in six months, so I made it now. It is simple Christmas tree puzzle which consists of 9 smaller ones. Also you can use them as separate Christmas ornaments or home decoration (pattern includes variant with loop for hanging) Video of making project Christmas treee puzzle pattern1 point

Kevin, @kmmcrafts I bought a small, inexpensive laser (about $200) just to do engraving on the back of my projects. As a bonus, I can make my logo larger or smaller to fit the piece I am engraving. This would not tie up your expensive laser from doing other work. Thurman1 point
