Summer Scroll Saw Challenge
Travis and 3 others reacted to john nelson for a topic
GAWD...this month is a tough one.......... "I guess, "put the kids in the car and go for a long ride in the country." (another simple "adding color to scrolling" project) Art work was done with felt tip pencils on a sheet of paper. A copy was made of the art work and glued to the wood. A couple of clear coats were added and it was done. It LOOKS like it was hand painted. ( both sides are different). JAN4 points -
JU-52
john nelson and 2 others reacted to munzieb for a topic
My wife's niece from Germany visited us last month. She is crazy for everything Lufthansa. She knows many of the crews and has even been written up in their in-flight magazine. She is a Dr. of research oncology but would give it all up to fly for them. She has her private licence. Problem is she is too short and can't reach the pedals on the airliners. I told her I would do a Lufthansa plane for her. She always loved the Junkers JU-52. This aircraft came out in 1932, shortly before the DC-3 and was Lufthansa's first airliner. It looks similar to the Ford Tri-motor and has the same corrigated skin. Several aircraft are still flying and there are some Youtube videos of one based in Switzerland. The cutting was a challenge because so much of the aircraft is painted black and all the straight lines of the corrigation and I also elimated the doors underneath. They close up in flight. I had to add some extra bridges to keep it all together.3 points -

Been a long time since i posted anything on here but Been wanting to do this piece for a long time but never could find a pattern for. So I tried to make my own pattern for and this is the end result. I didn't have any intention of finishing it I just glued it up to see if the pattern I made fit together which it did. My neighbor dropped over and seen and wanted so bad for there sons wedding in a week or. They wanted there names on it so had no choice but to do it with a marker. Made from 1/2" plywood1 point -
Anything in the manual about maintenance? I'm wondering if you need to clean the lens from time to time? I'm not familiar with these diode laser types. But on the K40 Co2 laser I have the smoke will rise up and get on the focus lens after some hours of use.. Unless I run the air assist then it can be quite a few hours before they get dirty. These don't appear to have air assist and not really sure it's needed on one of these? I only use it on mine for cutting.. just engraving isn't needed1 point

Looks great Frank and I agree with everything you said. I didn't get any paperwork with mine as it was used so I just watched a few videos and went from there. There is another Villager here by the name of TAIrving that I met on Facebook on the Neje group. He has been a great help also. He has the same unit we have but I'm not sure what size. Mine is the large one. For what I originally intended I could have gone with the small one but I didn't find a deal on one so I have what I have. I will find a use for it at some point. For now, I'm going to be doing what have have done. I won't date anything that I might sell but will anything that I gift.1 point

G'day Bruce, I do the exact same as @Rolf. Before I cut the pieces, I run either a 3mm (1/8") or a 6mm (1/4") round over around the outside edges on my router table. I then cut the puzzle into pieces and use a 180g Mac Mop on a drill press to relieve all of the edges. I then re-assemble the puzzle and give the faces a sand with a ROS using 240g followed by 360g paper. My router table is home made. One thing to be cautious of, is as I use pine, the router bits must be sharp and you have to get your speed of moving the piece correct to reduce tear out on back grain. This can be taken care of with the Mac Mop. Thanks @Rolf1 point

Not really scrolling related, but I wanted to share a camping trip my son and I took last week. I think I'll have to make something to commemorate the trip. A great way to recharge the soul and make awesome memories with my boy!1 point

Bruce, I,m listening to you but so far that,s all I can do.i,m willing but the body says no. I do try harder since you instilled words of wit , I just need to try harder. My favorite thing to do besides sleep is scoot around on my handicap scooter in the air conditioned stores looking for a chance to flirt. If that doesn,t work then I go in complimentary mode and seek out couples to tell the husband he has a beautiful daughter. Works everytime for the women as they come over an touch me or pat my shoulder overwhelmed to hear my foolishness. All in a day's work ,lol1 point -
