  1. I cut out the Freight Yard Train Portrait in the pattern catalog by Grampa cut from 1/4 inch plywood with a combo of straight and spiral blades. I made the frame from ripped down pallet wood runners. #ArtisanPirate

I'm sure lots of folks won't know this guy but he's from a show on Apple TV that my son, my wife and I really enjoy. He's a soccer coach and has a sign in the locker room that says BELIEVE. I added the goldfish because of some advise he gave a player. "You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It's a goldfish. You know why? It's got a 10-second memory. Be a goldfish!" If anyone's a fan of the show and wants a copy of the pattern, let me know.

Hot off the saw. I stack cut these out of 1/4 inch poplar, #1 FD Polar blades, #65 drill bit, no finish yet. Can you tell the top piece from the bottom?

    Scrollsaw Bowl

I felt compelled to try to make a segmented bowl again. For an impatient person it's hell. Cut and glue and cure and cut and cure and glue etc. Walnut, yellowheart and padauk.

    Tree of life, again

Hello every one, a request from my sister-in-law (I have a few) I show you my last work, again a Tree of life but I liked to make it. I broke 2 or 3 blades but I didn't regret. It's white oak Thickness 6mm ( 0.236 inch) Diameter 15 mm (5.90 inches) The support is tinted.

  6. Summer, in Texass, means mostly planning ways to get away from the heat. Love the mountains, and we've rediscovered a joy of kayaks on the lake, as long as its not *too* windy out.

    JU-52

My wife's niece from Germany visited us last month. She is crazy for everything Lufthansa. She knows many of the crews and has even been written up in their in-flight magazine. She is a Dr. of research oncology but would give it all up to fly for them. She has her private licence. Problem is she is too short and can't reach the pedals on the airliners. I told her I would do a Lufthansa plane for her. She always loved the Junkers JU-52. This aircraft came out in 1932, shortly before the DC-3 and was Lufthansa's first airliner. It looks similar to the Ford Tri-motor and has the same corrigated skin. Several aircraft are still flying and there are some Youtube videos of one based in Switzerland. The cutting was a challenge because so much of the aircraft is painted black and all the straight lines of the corrigation and I also elimated the doors underneath. They close up in flight. I had to add some extra bridges to keep it all together.

  8. For sure. I didn't buy this for cutting. My only purpose is engraving.

    Another one done!

I took the pattern from the last one and shrunk it down so I could use one of the short candles that came in the set. This one is 4 inches but I have a 2 & 3 also. Not sure yet which one will look better. Gotta wait for dark.

  13. I wonder if it has something to do with cleaning the lens.. as with any of this cheap china made stuff they might as well not offer any instructions, lol.. Nothing mentioned about cleaning it but I can't imagine it'd stay clean.. heat and smoke rise and usually finds it way up to the focal lens.. have to be really careful what you clean them with.. very fine scratches will greatly distort the power output and will affect the quality of burn you get. I use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips ( don't press hard on the Q-tip just let it lightly rub the lens.) to clean mine but not all lenses are created equal.. I had some that the RA melted it, LOL even though that was what was recommended to clean the one set I had.. I just assumed it was safe for all of them, LOL.. Some folks use lens cleaning wipes intended for cameras I think.. and I've seen mention of cleaning with glasses wipes.. Maybe the same as camera wipes? I don't know.

    I want one too!!!

Kind of in the basic sitting mode, scooter, car, chair. You know I used to think people got buried standing upright. Reason being as the head stone is very small marking the spot. This has been going on thru my mind since a kid. I'm trying to fit back in at ssv, tough to focus on doing something besides think.

  21. The only thing the User's Manual says about Maintenance is. and I quote: " After a period of time, the belt may be aging and relaxation, resulting in image printing offset. You can use a screwdriver and inner hexagonal wrench to adjust screws ath the two positions of the machine, so as to re-tighten the belt". Translation is not to well done! BTW, I discovered the white 'what ever you call it' thing is a felt tip pen but have no idea what the sponge thing in the cap is for.

  23. For sure. I didn't buy this for cutting. My only purpose is engraving. I think you are right Ray. It is an ideal tool for signing patterns. I bought mine because I liked the idea of engraving with a laser on various materials and sizes. My machine is a BangGood product and has a bed 650mm x 500mm (about 2' 2" x 1' 7 5/8"), I was quite happy with this until, in an idle moment. I found it would burn through 3 mm (around 1/8")laser plywood and have been playing with the machine ever since doing various things and loving it. I will shut up now as Travis has created a forum that we can discuss these things. Enjoy your burning.

  28. After watching Steve goods review on these I don't think cutting with one would be practical at all.. especially if you have a scroll saw, He did 7 passes on that little square he cut out.. A Co2 laser of at least 40W is what I'd say is the minimum I'd want to use for doing cutting.. When cutting as your cut get's a bit deeper your focus distance is changed so say at the top level of the piece is exact focus.. after going half way through say 1/8" BB ply your focus is off or has less cutting power.. Also something to think about is as that focus goes deeper into the wood the focal dot is getting bigger so you may not be cutting a true 90.. I don't notice this too much with 1/8" ply but when cutting 1/4" or more I can start to see the bevel on the edges..

  32. The 1st 8 pics are new ones. I have made for the 1st time. I posted a movie of some of the rockers. The hearts are glued in, as I feel they are a little small for nippers. Also a pic of them all together, shrink wrapped and ready to go. All cut from radiata pine 25 - 30mm thick. 2 coats of clear gloss lacquer. Used Olson PG#7 for cutting exterior and PG#5 for inside cuts. Veining with FD#3 Spiral Also tried Olson Mach#7 They cut like a hot knife through butter, but do not leave as smooth a finish as the others.

  35. GAWD...this month is a tough one.......... "I guess, "put the kids in the car and go for a long ride in the country." (another simple "adding color to scrolling" project) Art work was done with felt tip pencils on a sheet of paper. A copy was made of the art work and glued to the wood. A couple of clear coats were added and it was done. It LOOKS like it was hand painted. ( both sides are different). JAN

  37. A project finished Monday, July 4th. The pattern is by Judy & Dave Peterson and found in their book, Making Wooden Dinosaur Toys and Puzzles. I used 3/4" Poplar. It is approximately 5 1/2" x 11". Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3R MGT blades and Pegas #1 Spiral blades for the veining. After sanding with a Mac Mop, dipped in diluted Shellac and then sanded again. Blades purchased from artcraftersonline.com. Comments welcome.

  47. To add, this is another hobby also. Just gaining knowledge is important to me. As usual, learning the vernacular is where we must start. I never gave lasers much thought but my eyes have been opened to the possibilities.
