  1. Hey everyone! In this scroll saw project video I make this beautiful lighthouse scene! This Steve Good design uses 3 layers of 1/4 inch material layered together to create a beautiful 3D effect! Hope you all like the video! #ArtisanPirate

    My setup

Here's a look at how I am setting up my shop. I'm using a miter saw stand (works really well with the old Delta, haven't tried the Hegner yet). I chose this miter saw stand because it had the longest capacity, has four built in supports, and extra mounting brackets are easy to find and not too expensive. I'm using this stand to take the Delta to the farmers market that I attend. This really attracted more people to the booth, as well as much better sales. The third picture is the bracket for the magnifying light and power strip. I'll get some more picture tomorrow at the FM.

  3. I cut out the Freight Yard Train Portrait in the pattern catalog by Grampa cut from 1/4 inch plywood with a combo of straight and spiral blades. I made the frame from ripped down pallet wood runners. #ArtisanPirate

    Another one done!

I took the pattern from the last one and shrunk it down so I could use one of the short candles that came in the set. This one is 4 inches but I have a 2 & 3 also. Not sure yet which one will look better. Gotta wait for dark.

  5. I already had Charles Dearing's, center Robin, on my wall. Since he's probably my all time favorite I added a couple more.

  6. I hadn't planned on buying this book because, if I order through Fox Chapel the shipping and exchange rates make it way too expensive. I was just at the local bookstore with my (visiting) cousin and saw it. Pick it up and said, "This one is coming home with me". Got to the register and my cousin picked up the tab for being a house guest!! Yeah me!

  8. Roberta, he is talking about the old other magazine, “Creative Woodworks and Crafts” that is no longer published and has no website as opposed to the “Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts” magazine which is the only one left and which does have a website and an index. Unfortunately I have found that the index search there is not always reliable for finding things. I think someone had created a spreadsheet of the old magazine issues, but I’m not sure who it was at the moment.

    New ornaments

Hot off the saw. I stack cut these out of 1/4 inch poplar, #1 FD Polar blades, #65 drill bit, no finish yet. Can you tell the top piece from the bottom?

    My setup

Kevin, That's the direction my shop is going. The concept behind the miter saw stand is that if I situate it in the center of the 18' wall and can handle 8' board to either side no matter what tool I have mounted. The saw pictured is my old Delta SS 40-560 two speed with the quick clamp (In my opinion the best clamp ever made!). My new saw is a 22" Hegner, still trying to get the hang of it.

  16. I knew it! Many times on SSV something just doesn,t look right I find but it's my eyes not working. Coming back to this I see I missed the title freight yard and then the train popped into veiw. So that's where all the black is coming from !!! Both bumpers are the same height which thru me off. I kept saying what an ugly truck not knowing but thinking the train was part of the truck.

  24. Instead of buying the grid mat thingy I'd probably just mount the laser to your board and burn your own grid using the laser.. this way it'll be square to what the laser will do.. Maybe they're built really well and squared up good but if not then burning the grid into your board / mount then the grid would always be square to the laser. As for doing taller projects.. could you build a mount on each side of the machine with slots so you can just slide it up and re-tighten the mounting bolts.. or have various holes throughout the mount uprights.. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say, LOL.. Maybe you could use a metal ruler cut slot in the middle for mounting.. that way the ruler would indicate you have both sides at the same height? Just throwing some ideas..

  25. If they have CD sets boy I'd like to find some of those... The CWWC magazine is the one I liked best.. I have a few of the magazines.. and like Dan.. they are in a file cabinet and rarely even looked at.. I don't think they had any CD's but the other magazine Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts I believe is the one that did cd sets from past issues..

  26. I'll have to look but I have many of the older magazines. They are boxed up so I probably won't use them. Let me know which ones you are looking for. I also believe I purchased a 2 cd set of the magazines but I'm not sure if it was for that magazine. I just have to find them also.
