Heart Coaster
frankorona and 11 others reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
Heart Coaster finished Monday, August 22, 2022. The pattern is by Charles Hand and found in the book "Circular Scroll Saw Designs". I enlarged the pattern so that it is a trivet or wall hanger. I used 3/4" Hard Maple about 8" x 8". Cut on the Pegas scroll saw using Pegas #1R MGT blades. I used #1R MGT blades to see how they would cut 3/4" Hard Maple. Very impressed. After sanding with a Mac Mop, dipped in diluted Shellac and lightly sanded again. Two coats of MinWax Lacquer clear gloss. Comments welcome.12 points -

Well here s my Little Haunted House. It is a pattern from an old Quilt I found yrs back. With a little change here and there I made it with wood. As you can see the backdoor is open to a cone incense, the smoke will come out of the Chimney. Some will anyway. The Ghost Glow in the dark as does the skeleton on the back window and the eyes in the other windows. So Happy Halloween!!!10 points -
I was having problem with Inkscape and printing 11 x 17 ( I'm not alone ). The pattern for these is about 2/3 the original, and since I hate waste I'm using the pattern that I have. I had some 1/8 inch wood, so that's what I'm using. I don't know the species; blade FD Polar 2/0, pilot holes #71 drill bit ( .025 ), quarter for sca9 points

Charles Hand Racoon
MTCowpoke22 and 5 others reacted to heppnerguy for a topic
After cutting the 'peace sign' pattern of Charles Hand and really appreciated all of his efforts when I had trouble downloading the peace sign. After all the time he gave me, I remembered Charles Hand had another of his patterns on the front of the last Scroll saw magazine so I decided to give it a go also. I have a granddaughter that had a racoon for a pet several years ago and decided to make it for her for Christmas as a reminder of that time in her life when she found the little racoon outside her home. If you also have the magazine, you might want to give it a try, I used a #2 spiral Peg as blade and cut it with a 1/4 inch Baltic Birch ply. enjoyed cutting it and found it quite challenging too. My wife said we need a mantel clock and found one on Pedro's Web site finescrollsaw.com. Contacted him and he send me a PDF file after I purchased. It all went very smoothly. Took it to my local UPS store and were able to print it on card stock using A6 paper format dimensions. 12" x 17" I wanted to do it in Bubinga but my wife wanted a lighter color, so I went with oak. I used 3.5 pieces of 5.5 x 48" 1/4" oak. I did modify the top from the original pattern so that the top was narrower than the piece below it. I also added a 1/8" shim between to bottom and next piece up. I also rounded the extention pieces on the base plate. Finish in Gloss Lacquer.5 points

This is a Jim Blume pattern I finished this weekend. Both are finished the same except one is Birch and the other is Oak finished with Minwax Natural stain. Both are 1/4 inch with 1/4 Pine ply backer painted black. The frames are pre-fab Oak framing material stained with Minwax Colonial Pine. I finished with 4-coats of clear spray lacquer with light sanding with 600 grit between coats. I used Pegas #2/0 and 0/0 spiral blades. The size without the frame and including the backer is 11 1/2 X 14. A lot of fun to cut and surprisingly, it went pretty fast. Hope you enjoy.4 points

Snowmobile Clock Pattern?
heppnerguy and 2 others reacted to John B for a topic
Looks very much like a Sheila Landry Pattern. Wooden Teddy Bear also has a lot of similar looking ones. I found heaps of Snowmobile silhouettes if you would like to have a shot yourself. Snowmobiles3 points -
Wonderful job on that for sure. Thanks for sharing your work. Seeing folks cut the things I try to design keeps me inspired to make more patterns.3 points

You can always reach out to the seller of Amazon and ask.. While I think that is wrong for them to not have this in the description you could mention that to them as it is important for your customer to know what they are getting.. There are a lot of sellers that do not understand this and overlook it thinking you should know, or whatever.. just oversite maybe.. but if you have concern ask.. Edit: maybe off topic but I find a lot of eBay and Amazon design sellers actually selling designs that are not their own... It's crazy how people just think they can use and do whatever they want on the internet.. If it's online they feel it's public domain..2 points -
Dragonflies
heppnerguy and one other reacted to barb.j.enders for a topic
Super happy with how these turned out. Alex Fox pattern that I shrank to 80%. Left the backer piece off. Finished with Tung Oil. Shadow box frames were free and missing the backer. Used foam core as the backer. The backer on the dragonfly is rainbow scrapbooking paper (from my mom's stock). The boarder is another type of scrapbooking paper. One is pale green and the other is a blue. Took the photos outside so, unfortunately, the reflection is in the way.2 points -

Excellent piece. I like cutting Jim Blume's patterns also. Some can be complicated but they are sure worth it in the end.2 points

A Retirement gift for 30 years of Service
namunolie and one other reacted to Greatgrandpawrichard for a topic
I have a Nephew that is celebrating his Retirement next weekend after 30 Years of Service. So I wanted to make him a "Special" gift. Well, I chose an Eagle pattern Janevski for that gift. I somehow managed to accidentally reduce the size from 11" X 14" down to 6 3/4 X 9" which mad the cutting a bit more difficult to do, but I love the way it turned out. The size fit a beautiful scrap of Aromatic Cedar Plywood that I have been saving for quite a few years. I just got done gluing the layers together. Everyone that has seen it absolutely Love it, so I am sure that my nephew will do the same! Thanks Janevski for the Awesome idea for the gift! Dick2 points -

Fun Days - Scroll Saw Challenge
danny reacted to john nelson for a topic
HERE IS MY, FUN DAYS SCROLL SAW CHALLENGE FOR AUGUST........................ I have found scrollers are very serious about scrolling. Sometimes you have to lighten up and make a few FUN, silly projects. Pigs really can fly you know! There is NO painting, except for the edges, in doing this project. Art work for this project was done on a sheet of paper using COP/C dual-tip, alcohol base markers. A copy of the artwork was made, cut out and glued to the wood. A light clear top coat was added. It is almost impossible to see that the art work was glued on. DID YOU SMILE? JAN1 point -
I can't remember if I posted this pic before or told the story 2008 at St Mary's Primary School's end of year concert, one of the teachers squeezing between the lectern and the wall of the stage uttered "I'm glad I've got my, Suck me in knickers on" to another teacher. The problem was, the mic was also on, and around 600 parents and students also heard. Hence the "Wood Duck" Award was born. It is given to a teacher when they make an embarrassing (Humorous) comment.1 point
