  1. Wife says she wants another Mantel Clock with contrasting colors. I had enough working with oak (too brittle) I had some bubinga and poplar and started cutting. Will be gifting some clocks for Christmas.

  2. I converted this Zebra Image I found on-line into an 11” x 12” scrollable pattern. Cut panel is in 3/32” solid core Hand Painted Birch Ply affixed to a ¼” BB ply painted Black backer. Cutting was done using Pegas #1 MGT R blades. Assembled panel protected with multiple coats of Deft Clear Gloss Lacquer Frame is 1 ¾” wide primed and painted Poplar. Comments and Critiques always welcome.

  3. Added a cut to my “Theme” the fourth was finished today but still to be sanded, oiled and varnished, but I can update the first three and you can see where I am going with this theme. Just a reminder cuts two and thre was posted a few weeks ago, all the cut was with a #0 straight pin less blade. Thanks to Botas Helder for the Last Supper, Condemned and Crucified (renamed for my theme) Russ Beard Patterns.

    A little shop time

With my eyesight as wonky as it is I don't get to do a lot of scrolling. Just a couple of pieces I finished. Sadie and Trudy ornaments are from Steve Good and the Wolf is Grampa's I downsized it to work as a magnet. Still have some sanding to do and then stain.

  5. I made these Steve Good Ball Ornaments for our Christmas Tree this year. Steve designed them for a Laser cutter, but they were easy to cut on a Scroll Saw. I used a lot of 3/32” solid core Maple ply cut offs. Repeated pieces were stack cut. Small details were cut with Pegas #2/0 spiral and long curves and rounds cut with Pegas #1 MGT R blade. Images were hand painted with Artist Acrylic Paints after sealing with a Krylon Spray Sealer. I did a dry fit ups of each ornament to insure all fit before glueing. Where some tab openings were too tight, I adjusted them with a small flat file. I then used Locktite Superglue Gel for assembly. After assembly, each ornament was protected with multiple coats of Deft Clear Gloss Lacquer. A few personal notes here: Using a plywood for these ornaments was OK as they are just for our tree, and only come out for the month of December. However, they would look much better if a solid wood was used. Also, I would have prefered Images that were viewable from both sides. The word NOEL on two of the Onaments makes the opposite view read wrong, but that is just being very picky on my part. And BTW, the center Image piece would make nice flat ornamentss just by themselves . Comments and critiques always welcome.

  7. Well while waiting for my wife while she was in respiratory rehab, I went to Harbor Freight, the sacrifices I make for my wife,,, and purchased one of these air brushes. If it works well I may get another..the jars alone are worth it. While checking out, the checker, a lady, I am sure said she had one and it worked well for decorating cakes until she ran vodka through the air hose and it some how screwed up the hose... ?? I may have to go back and revisit that with her,, next time my wife is in rehab.. Vodka???!!!

    Searching for posts ?

Don, did you perhaps use Steve Good's Compound keychain name system to create? f you go up to your user name (its in the top right corner on my computer) and click and drag down - you will see "attachments" - the will let you view all the images/photos you have ever attached or added here in the Village. You can also see all the threads you have posted by clicking on your user name, drag down to select profile, and once at profile page - select the "See my activity" block over to the right side (its the blue box and while I hovered over it it shows the popup to see meflick's Content - select the blue box by clicking on it) and it will show what you have posted. You could have to filter through if its been a while since you shared. Just some other ways to find things you have shared in the past.

    Not Wordle!

Thanks Barb and Melanie for the info. I will give her a call this evening. I am in the garage trying to move and clean enough to get to my saw. It has been about 6 years since it has been used and a lot of stuff has accumulated in that time. Thanks Larry

    First cut

Been revisiting a couple of old threads lol. It been just over a month since I posted my first cut. I thought a reasonable way to gadge my progress would be to cut another name block. I couldn't find another 3/4 peice of pine all I could find in my scrap pile was a peice of 1 1/4 inch laminated pine board. This is fresh off the saw no sanding and took about 1/4 of the time to do, also the edges are shiny smooth none of those ridges I had to sand out on the first one. For once I'm quite pleased not with the cut (still room for a lot of improvement) but with the progress of my techniques, smoother and more consistent cuts.

  33. I would like to know how to search for posts I have made on this site, if anyone can explain it simply I will be very gratefull. I have made those compound cut name cube things and have posted the result on this site (somewhere). I can no longer find the patterns/method of making them and need to download the instructions from somewhere, can anyone help ?? please. I can post a pic of the name block that I have if it will help.

    Searching for posts ?

Me too. I posted some pictures from the Klingspor show a few years ago that included pictures of Steve Good. I have not had any luck finding them. I also referenced previous postings on various projects I did in the past and can't find them either.
