A custom project finished yesterday. I had design help from Don in Brooklin On. The overlay is 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood and backed with 3/8" Baltic Birch plywood stained black. It is 4" x 16". Cut on the Pegas scroll saw using Pegas #1R MGT blades. The finish is two coats Minwax spray Lacquer Clear Satin with sanding between coats. Comments welcome.8 points -

I had a piece of 9" x 5 3/8" x 1" walnut sitting in my scrap box just screaming for the right pattern. I decided I wanted to use it so I searched Steve Good's pattern library and stumbled across the Treble Clef pattern. It fit the scrap piece almost perfectly. It was an easy cut and finished with lacquer over a shellac sanding sealer - literally an afternoon start to finish. My wife loved it and it now sits on her piano. Now when my wife hints about my overflowing scrap box I point out that it made that item possible. Ahhh - domestic tranquility! Thanks Steve!3 points

DeWalt 2stage Quiet wet and dry vac
Eplfan2011 and one other reacted to kmmcrafts for a topic
Only thing I have on that is, there was really good reviews on that vac a couple years ago when I was researching.. I never did buy anything other than my small Seyco scroll saw dust vac. It does pretty good job but will need a T to get dust from the top side of the table. I wonder how well the cyclone thing with my kit is compared to a actual brand name dust deputy.. My little vac filter gets coated with some fine dust after a days cutting and the vac starts getting louder. If I take the filter / bag out and take it outside and blow the dust out it'll quiet down for the next day. So basically it's pretty quiet so long as you keep the filter / bag cleaned out.2 points -

Re-Purposed Grill

Seen this on FB.. I'll add photo for those without FB if they cannot access the link. https://www.facebook.com/TheFamilyHandyman/photos/a.90657113889/10160088695373890/ This in on Family Handyman FB page so it might be on their website too I don't know.. anyway I'd have never thought about it for a miter saw I guess.. I did similar 5 years ago with my K40 C02 Laser. I had just replaced my grille because the bottom rotted out on the old one. Took a piece of left over OSB I had laying around and made a table top from it. The laser is water cooled and I use a 5 gallon bucket for the water and that fits nicely where the LP tank would go, LOL.. so the laser is self contained and on wheels for easy moving around,2 points -

Hummm, don't pay much attention to Halloween since the kids grew up and left home, Where we live we do not get trick or treat-ers. So it is just another night. The only thing I have ever done halloween-ish is this pen. I can show it because the bats were cut with a scroll saw. The scariest part is my shop friend Zelda, checking it out.2 points

Most recent "scary" cut was H.Botas' pirate skull. It just checked all the right boxes for me, and was a fun cut. The pirate owl (cuz why not?) and wolf were fun as well, and the six cuts are my standard Halloween decorations at work (pirate skull has been added to that group now as well). Not sure if there's any defining "requirements" as to why I cut what I cut. Its just gotta hit me the right way in whatever emotion it evokes.2 points -

DeWalt 2stage Quiet wet and dry vac
OCtoolguy reacted to Eplfan2011 for a topic
Festool vac is pretty quiet Ray but I do most of my saw and router cutting in the garage and It's dedicated to the track saw/ router. I don't want to be carrying it in and out all the time. I do have a dust collector out there for the table saw and planer but it's useless for the small tools. At $165 bucks it's not expensive for the convenience of having it dedicated to the scroll saw room in the house.1 point -
Woody Woodpecker - Heh heh heh HEHHHH heh
Fred Buehler reacted to FrankEV for a topic
OK, I just may be getting a bit carried away making another Cartoon Character. The Cartoon characters of my (way back when) generation that I grew up on are easily found free on-line, easily converted to scrollable patterns and after cutting, easily colored with Artist Acrylic Paints to their original simple basic colors. Yes, I understand that Copyrights and Trademarks apply to the Images so selling these pieces may not be the best Idea. However, they are fun to make and bring back a lot of fond (ahem?) memories. This Woody pattern is cut in 5/32” x 11” x17” Birch Solid Core Ply and affixed to a painted black 1/4” BB Ply backer. Cutting was done with a Pegas #1 MGT R blade. The assembled and painted panel was protected with multiple coats of Deft Clear Gloss Lacquer. The frame is 1 3/4” wide Pine, primed and painted Glidden Gloss Black. I prefer Polar for my frames but even the Prime Grade Pine I’m using is a lot less expensive then Poplar is. I’m currently working on a non-cartoon project, but I have a bunch of cartoon images in my files that I can convert and cut over time. Comments and Critiques always welcome.1 point -

As some might know I got another saw today and I can't believe the difference between them. I've no experience with any other saw but the hawk I've been using, and up untill now I've been real pleased with it. Fast forward and I pick up a piece of scrap draw a wiggley line like a jigsaw puzzle peice and wizz round it twice as fast as I do on the hawk and stay on the line with ease. Everything seemed so much easier. Are the double parallel link arm saws that much easier to use or is it just me.... I kinda feel cheated right now LMAO When I get the time to sit down with it and cut something worthwhile this may be my main saw if it continues to cut like that.1 point -
It looks fabulous. Great job. Marg1 point

Thanks ...I originally bought it as a second saw as I have a hawk, but after doing a test cut on it I found it so much easier to follow the line and just move my hands around .... I've been busy today but tomorrow I'm hoping to make a stand for it and give it a real test run to see if it wasn't just a fluke ..1 point -

Dream Catcher with Air Traffic Control Badge
frankorona reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
This is a Sue Mey pattern modified with an Air Traffic Control Badge. A custom order and Wayne Mahler designed the overlay. Thanks Wayne. The wood used is 1/2" Ash for the Dream Catcher, Red Oak for the overlay and 1 4" Walnut and Hard Maple for the feathers. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3R MGT blades for everything except the feathers. For those I used Pegas #0 Spiral blades. I sell the Pegas blades at: artcraftersonline.com1 point -

A nice collection. I do like the ornaments. There is nothing like having a quality glass when scrolling. I used one even before I had glasses. I have a 200mm, glass (Not plastic) lens and it uses circular fluro tubes.1 point

Cute ornaments, LOVE the wolf!!! Very nice cutting!! Even being nearsighted, I've found a magnifying lamp works wonders for helping with cuts.1 point -
Hi Bob, doing ok for an old lady (lol). Still got a ornament to do for the kitty. Hard to see but the ornaments are done on cedar. Loved the color of the wood.1 point
