Here is my latest puzzle. I got the idea from a Pintrest post. I cut and painted this before getting crook, just took some pics and decided it was time to post. I have about a dozen tray puzzles in various stages of completion in the shed. Will post those when finished. This shrink wrapped, I normally take pics before wrapping. Alex Fox C192 - Cat in window

Hi all, I have been busy with actual work. Too many hours and have not done much in Scrollsaw stuff. I have a big project half done. But I wanted to cut something and get it done. A simple project. So I have I have a VET appointment for my cat Monday. So I can give them this Cat project. Total time about 7 hours. 4 hours of cutting, 3 hours of painting. This is my first layered project. @alexfox has a great handle on what makes a good layered project. Some small simple details adds quite a bit to the project but it keeps it simple. I can see I missed a couple of places for painting. But overall it is decent. The slots and holes in the birds adds the simple details. The slots for the curtains allows the depth for folds in the curtains. I like the layered concept. I left the backer off. I think that seeing thru it can work in different places. This picture shows it hanging on garage cabinents dark grey. The vet can put this in the window or set it on a desk to get the see thru look. Most of my cats are white but I wanted a bit more color on this project. So I attempted to color a calico. I might have got too many sections of color. So I will give this to the vet. He just opened up a second building for the wellness care. They probably could use some decorations to spruce up the office. All layers were done with 1/8" baltic birch plywood. Cut with 2/0 MGT pegas blades. Me. Mark Eason2 points -

Hi everyone, Just joined the Scrollsaw Village today. My name is Alan and I live in a small village North of Sheffield in the UK. Got into scrolling about 4 years ago and am really enjoying it. I use an Axminster Trade AT535SS scrollsaw which I believe is basically an Excalibur but with the Pegas blade clamps and am really happy with it. Mostly make small wooden animals, plaques, boxes, trivets and bowls. My other interest is wildlife photography. Looking forward to seeing the things you other guys make and hope to gain knowledge from you more experienced scrollers ! Take care and best regards, Alan.1 point -
This is what I had to do with my Delta P20! The part that the bellows mounted on broke in half and the part was no longer available! I had an aquarium air pump that had been used on another saw that i sold and decided to hook it up to the P20. It actually puts out more air than the original bellows did and it is hooked up to run when the saw does and shuts off when the saw does! Erv1 point

Ray, did the top of that boot stretch enough to fit over what it has to fit over on the saw? My saw is not around 12 years old, Maybe I should buy what you did and have on hand. I will forget about it if the time comes I need one,, heck I will forget about it in 10 minutes! Of course, I would also forget where I stored the spare if I happen to remember I had one.1 point

Same way I felt about The Revenant. Saw it with my son and son-in-law. We all said, "Good movie. Never want to see it again."1 point

Excellent work Charlie. I have only seen the movie once, that was when it came out in the cinemas. Loved it, great movie, but I'm not sure if I'd like to see it again, sort of like Deliverance, Once is enough.1 point

Thanx Ray. I’ll check the auto parts store tomorrow and see what they have. Did you need to use the band clamps or was the fit tight enough? Charley, I was hoping to not have to add another device on to the saw. I think the previous owner (not who I bought it from) must have used one because the air tube was cut in half. I don’t use a foot switch because of my back problems. I need to keep changing position while I’m sawing and a foot switch would make that difficult.1 point

Ray at Seyco told me it happens to all saws at some point. It’s caused when lowering the upper arm it puts a strain on the threads sort of like hammers at them and over several fretwork’s those threads take a beating. He said the fix is actually to change the threaded rod and the square block that it threads into. I just opted to save some money and since I had the blue thread locker on hand to try that. Been a few years and still going good. Mine was really bad too, like it’d turn a quarter turn during cutting, long cuts I’d have to stop and adjust it a couple times sometimes. Was basically useless lol.1 point

I replaced 2 of them using CV boots. Worked great. Just get the measurements at top and bottom and go looking. I can't recall what I used. I'll do some research and try to find my Amazon purchase. BRB. Here ya go. Kit Empi 86-2340D from Amazon was under $20.1 point

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...is one big spider. What type is Zelda, do you know? I had a wolf spider living in my garage for a while, wish she'd come back because its cricket season again.1 point -
Hummm, don't pay much attention to Halloween since the kids grew up and left home, Where we live we do not get trick or treat-ers. So it is just another night. The only thing I have ever done halloween-ish is this pen. I can show it because the bats were cut with a scroll saw. The scariest part is my shop friend Zelda, checking it out.1 point

Most recent "scary" cut was H.Botas' pirate skull. It just checked all the right boxes for me, and was a fun cut. The pirate owl (cuz why not?) and wolf were fun as well, and the six cuts are my standard Halloween decorations at work (pirate skull has been added to that group now as well). Not sure if there's any defining "requirements" as to why I cut what I cut. Its just gotta hit me the right way in whatever emotion it evokes.1 point -

Thanks, I do have the white mark on the knob. It’s just frustrating as for two years it has taken weeks before I had to readjust now it’s multiple times a day.0 points
