  1. These were both stencils found on the internet. I wasn't a huge fan of either singer in the day, though I do like a lot of Queen songs now and David's, "Space Oddity." I also love David's duet with Bing Crosby on Little Drummer Boy. I found this piece of heart pine at a curb where some people are remodeling a century old home. Still highly prefer cutting oak but free is free. When I get this hung it will make number 99 on my shop walls.

    Halloween Bat

Made this Bat for Halloween earlier today. The pattern is courtesy of Scrollsaw Workshop. I then drilled 2 small holes and added 2 red LED's for the eyes. A small 3V watch battery powers them. Alan. May have posted this in the wrong section, apologies.

  5. Looks good. A quick painting tip for the calico - use a small sponge to dab the paint on. That way you get a "blurred" line between the colours. I did this tree puzzle with sponge painting.

  6. Hi all, I have been busy with actual work. Too many hours and have not done much in Scrollsaw stuff. I have a big project half done. But I wanted to cut something and get it done. A simple project. So I have I have a VET appointment for my cat Monday. So I can give them this Cat project. Total time about 7 hours. 4 hours of cutting, 3 hours of painting. This is my first layered project. @alexfox has a great handle on what makes a good layered project. Some small simple details adds quite a bit to the project but it keeps it simple. I can see I missed a couple of places for painting. But overall it is decent. The slots and holes in the birds adds the simple details. The slots for the curtains allows the depth for folds in the curtains. I like the layered concept. I left the backer off. I think that seeing thru it can work in different places. This picture shows it hanging on garage cabinents dark grey. The vet can put this in the window or set it on a desk to get the see thru look. Most of my cats are white but I wanted a bit more color on this project. So I attempted to color a calico. I might have got too many sections of color. So I will give this to the vet. He just opened up a second building for the wellness care. They probably could use some decorations to spruce up the office. All layers were done with 1/8" baltic birch plywood. Cut with 2/0 MGT pegas blades. Me. Mark Eason

  8. I can relate Paul. I have had about 1/2 dozen mouth organs and the best I did was a train whistle :). I also have a Jews Harp and then I nearly busted my teeth. Oh well, at least I'm pretty good on a record player

  11. Bruce (aka Blaughn) Posted back on 10/4 about his cutting of this S. Good Pattern. Well just like Bruce I happen to have a few pieces of ¾” Walnut amongst my scrap pieces that were the perfect size for the cutting and the base. Additionally, although I do not own a Piano or play an instrument, I just happen to have a need to make a piece for my collection of sculptures and this was a great choice. The sculpture is overall approximately 9 1/2” High x 6” wide. Bruce and I both deviated slightly from the original pattern in the area in the half circle just above the base. I also tapered the base about 4 degrees just to add a little more detail. And like Bruce, I finished mine with multiple coats of Clear Gloss Lacquer. Comments and Critiques always welcome.

  12. Hi all, Whenever I scroll I mostly use 3/4" thick wood (Oak, Birch, Walnut). I am sold on the Pegas MGT blades but sometimes I get fuzz in the bottom depending on the wood. Would SKIP blades reduce that issue? Thank you in advance for any advice Sam

Do you have more information as to where to get the L.E.D's? I am not familiar with the L.E.D Lamps.

  15. Might be how your saw is set up too.. depending on what saw you're using. As Ray said, maybe if possible mount the blade up higher in your blade chucks. Some of the Jet saws have a issue where the table sits too high and the reverse teeth on many of them are not being utilized. I find myself doing this quite often on my Excalibur, I mount the blade way to low and then I get a lot of fuzzies etc. on the back side of the project. Can't do that on the Hawk.. as there is only one position to even be able to mount the blade.. something that really annoys me on the Hawk with pegas blades is they are not consistent with length.. some blades in the same bundle will have a thin piece on either end or both ends sometimes and very few blades are always the exact same length. On the Hawk you place the blade in the lower clamp until it bottoms out in the hole, then mount in the top clamp as it comes to the roll pin.. but some blades are too long which is easy to just snip off a small section.. but sometimes they're also too short to even mount in the saw unless I change the whole set up for that one blade, LOL very annoying to me.. I normally now just set those blades aside and use them on the Excalibur.. still frustrating though since you don't know until you already mount it in the lower clamp and then pull the upper arm down to find it's too short, LOL.. Nice sharp blades but sometimes wonder if they're worth the hassle on the Hawk saws.. Wish Pegas could make a uniform length and stick with it like the other companies do..

  20. Very nicely cut! I would've recognized both of them without the post title. And I suck at putting names and faces together. I'm with you on their music for the most part, Bowie puts a good tune out, but I never really *got* his lyrics. Queen, however...the more I hear them, the more I like them.

  22. I'm sure the vet will appreciate it. I don't cut layers, for a bit of a different reason than the others, and that's time. My time is worth more than the ply and I would never be able to recoup enough to make it worthwhile. Having said that I can definitely see a layered project being done for a present, as then time doesn't enter into it.

  23. My new Christmas ornaments set. All items made in the same style. I think it is a great variant for small presents for the family: each will get one piece from the set. Or use it for Christmas tree or as home decoration. Each project consist of 4 layers, size about 5,5 x 5,5 inches. Pattern at https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexFoxUA

    How did I do ?

I think you did a great job cutting that pattern. That being said I never understood why Steve Good created that pattern with most letters being backwards on 2 sides. If the ornament is hanging showing one of the back sides it is just...........
