  1. Paul pointed out that I had grabbed a photo of the pattern and not the one I had actually cut. Here is the correct photo of the one I cut and mailed off. OOPs, my bad Dick heppnerguy

  2. I took the photos with a table and the light shining through the kitchen window on them. The color and finish on all of these came out looking horrible but in reality they actually turned out quite well. Sorry for the way they look, not exactly understanding why each piece looks so horrific but they sure do. I hope you all can try to understand that none of them look as you are seeing them. Makes me hang my head in shame but if you could see them for real you would understand. Dick heppnerguy

  3. Stack of Dachshunds pattern by Jaeheon Yun and found in his book 20 Minute Scroll Saw Puzzles. Made from 3/4" solid Walnut. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3R MGT blades. Sanded, dipped in diluted Shellac, and sanded again. I sell the blades at artcraftersonline.com.

    Itty Bitty Kittens

Over the years, I have made 100s of animal cutouts, maybe thousands. Kids love them, and it is an excellent way to use up those bits of wood left from other projects. I recently started adding the eyes by request. I use Inkscape to add the eyes to the pattern so I can move them around and resize them to look right. The kittens are my latest cutouts. I cut these from poplar, pine, oak, and mystery wood.

    Where Is Everyone?

I've been busy with many things not hobby related. But also when time permits working on Christmas gifts. I also decided to give the 3-D reindeer earrings a try so I've been chatting with @CharleyL about how he does it. Here are my first two attempts out of mahogany. Gonna buy some hard maple today if I can find some.

  10. This project was completed on a century-old oak wood panel that was salvaged from a church in North Carolina that was started in 1921 with the help of my wife's great grandfather and eight other families. She and all of her siblings were baptized in this old church and family members are current members .. The church was demolished around 1959 when the new church was constructed. The panels from the choir loft were stored by a cousin for over 50 years. He knew I was involved in woodworking and asked if I wanted some. I accepted his offer. My wife now has a treasured piece from this special house of worship. The panel 's old finish was stripped and stained again prior to the scrolling. The grapes were created with crushed gems in acrylic inlay. The grape leaves were colored with a polyurethane/artist oils mixture. My wife was pleased to get the scrolled cross she had been asking for.

Hi 60's low 70's in So Cal. I actually turned my little heater on in my shop yesterday. I guess I'll have to put on long pants soon. Sad!

When I posted your request, I was hoping you were thinking of a coin cut! I really miss seeing you coin art. Hope you get back to sharing it with us.

  14. I have noticed with myself, there are some patterns I run across and would never be interested in cutting them but then someone else cuts them and they stand out so nicely that it makes me wonder why I could not even be interested in them. I am not an avid car fancier myself but there are some cars that I really like and the T Birds were one of those cars. Dick heppnerguy

    Where Is Everyone?

@OCtoolguy The 3D reindeer are cute. The problem with hard maple: I cut some toys (dinosaurs) for a niece but never could give them to her. The hard maple cuts nicely but the cut edges are SHARP! And impossible to sand satisfactorily. I still have those lying around somewhere. I could sand the outer edges with some (a lot) of effort, but never could get the inner edges.

Still pop in every second day, too many appointments, scrolling and household duties. Plus we had to go to a Black Friday sale because our vacuum blew up, it timed it just right. Marg

    Where Is Everyone?

@jbrowning Sorry to hear about the eye injury.. Hoping it's healing up well. @OCtoolguy Those reindeer are cute, I'm not sure about making anything from hard maple though, Are you sure you're wanting to try that for real, LOL @preprius I'd make a white elephant, @oldhudson We did get slammed with around 12" of snow but 2 days later it went back into the 50's and melted. Today just happen to go back to cold and very windy.. no snow though, I still need to put my snow removal equipment on my tractors.. @BadBob I could like those temps but that humidity though.. I'm not sure about that.LOL @Oldmansbike That is a beautiful box!! I've been really busy myself but been checking in every morning and evening but having seen a lot of activity happening. Finally today got caught up on some orders.. and hoping to work on some daughter-do's ( same as honey-do's but from my daughter, LOL ) she is always having me make something and usually last minute. Two years ago she handed me a picture and asked for a portrait that she wanted to give her boyfriends mom for Christmas.. and I got the picture on Christmas eve, LOL.. I managed to make it happen. This year I've got to make her a laser engrave cutting board. My laser is too small for the size she is wanting it to be but I have a laser attachment that came with my CNC router.. however I've never even tried it so this might be interesting experiment, LOL. Then just yesterday she informed me I was making a portrait for her boyfriends new truck he just got.. but they want it made from pine and 2ft long.. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do that one in time but she says if not his birthday is in Feb.. LOL

    Old Excalibur Scroll Saw

I found a manual for the saw. The tension is adjusted with a knob on the rear of the saw. It has an ac motor, and the speed is changed by moving the drive belt on a pair of step pulleys. The clamps are pretty crude and require a tool to tighten. Not something I would want to use, and I certainly don't need it. I decided to pass. Interestingly, the clamps for EX21 might work. If I had taken it, I certainly would have tried. The manual is pretty bad, and it looks like you had to provide the motor. I did not see it mentioned anywhere in the manual. 26. My Son and family were in from Arizona 2 weeks ago for Holiday. My Grandson wanted to go to the shop with PAP and make an ornament for his tree. Al tho I did most of the steering we did get a star ornament by Dirks Boelman made. Sorry I let it get away without a picture. Any how Brady picked up some of the scrap from the compound Ornaments and wanted them. I am like OK let me straighten them up for you. I sawed them flat and looked at them and realized that they really didn't look bad. My son even ask why I was throwing them away. So I went back thru some of the scrap and here are some of the results. I get a 3d ornament and also 1 to 4 2d ornaments from the same wood. In the pics you can see the 3d and also the 2ds that were made from the scrap. Your thoughts or critics appreciated.

  28. Gotta admit I've been doing a lot of lurking recently and not much posting. As of today I'll be in the shop cranking out my final ornaments. That's after I finish plowing out the 10" of snow we've gotten the past 24 hours. Looks like a white Christmas this year. Happy Holidays! Jim

  31. Part of my morning routine is visiting here. Have to post my Wordle attempts. I have been cutting lots but don't show until they are finished. Still working on the finishing. Two weeks ago I cut 10 triangle puzzles, 5 of my cat puzzles, 2 climbing cat puzzles, 1 each of frogs, flamingos, sea creatures, dinosaurs, unicorn and a tiger. Last week I got them sanded/shaped. This week is finishing. Yesterday was a hot mess with the airbrush. Still trying to learn how to use properly

  42. The yellow glue I do use (Not for inlay work) is "Titebond 2" and is water resistant. White glue is not. Both are stronger than the wood, true.

    Cowboy boot

When I gave it to the restaurant the owner was not in. Waitresses were really busy. So they were going to give it to owner later. When I go back I will take a picture of it, unless she took it home. For wearable wooden cowboy boots I might need to go visit the old dutch makers and get some new methods. Maybe keep the wood wet so it is flexible.

    Wedding Favour Puzzle

Inkscape. I took a 'wood vector image' and a 'puzzle' pattern off the internet and saved them in a folder on my computer. I then imported the puzzle, created the words I needed and put the words in the puzzle and grouped everything together and saved it. Then I imported the 'wood' image as layer 1 and added a second layer and imported the puzzle, locked the two together and pressed print. !!!
