Where Is Everyone?
OCtoolguy and one other reacted to Eplfan2011 for a topic
Some of my other things came home to roost today. My daughter came home from collage last night and this morning had her tonsils out this morning. Not a pleasant thing when you're going on 20 (I know she's still a baby) so I guess looking after her is going to be my priority, at least while her mother's a work .....2 points -

Don't get much time for scrolling like I use to. I really cannot sit for long periods at the scroll saw like I use to. Scroll a little while and got to get up and move around. My body get all cramped up. And my wife can not do all she use to so I am the care taker and house cleaner... She is getting even for all the years she took care of me and the kids and kept the house up, did the cooking...I do not know how she did it and she also worked a full time job. And I got to say, I am not as good at it as she was. God bless her.2 points

Thank you for bringing Lesley's Patterns issue to the forum. I had issues with their service a few years ago, As a scroll saw group we need to have each other's back. Maybe this will help to save another scroller from a potential frustrating issue2 points -

Wichman reacted to heppnerguy for a topic
I took the photos with a table and the light shining through the kitchen window on them. The color and finish on all of these came out looking horrible but in reality they actually turned out quite well. Sorry for the way they look, not exactly understanding why each piece looks so horrific but they sure do. I hope you all can try to understand that none of them look as you are seeing them. Makes me hang my head in shame but if you could see them for real you would understand. Dick heppnerguy1 point -

Just finished my first box frame light box for a customer who’s little girl is mad on frozen, Designed myself from images online and put together.Lights are mounted on a A4 MDF sheet then made pine box frame and put a frosted acetate sheet then cut out pattern on 1/4 inch Baltic birch plywood with 2/0 spiral blade and stained with danish oil ,finished off with a glitter lacquer (can’t really see glitter in picture but it’s there )Thanks for looking any tips for making these again would be appreciated as it’s my first I’m sure there is room for improvement1 point -

I was surprised at how long it too to cut. Thanks to you, I finally got enough sense to slow way down with my cutting and I no longer get so exasperated when I am cutting my fret work.. Dick heppnerguy1 point -

Thanks for your input. But, I don't make toys. I'm doing the earrings mostly just to satisfy my curiosity and the "reindeer king" here on the Village is @CharleyL . He uses hard maple for it's durability so I'm following his advice. I must say, I'm a little leery of cutting it. I have worked a bit with hickory and got through it ok. We will see. Right now I'm trying to wrap my head around the mechanical parts and how to go about installing them.1 point

Tree of Life
barb.j.enders reacted to hotshot for a topic
Awesome, I might see if it is cuttable when I shrink it down to Kennedy coin size. I have another tree of life pattern I do, but it's a bit more involved, so this might be a good alternative. I attached the one I've been doing, cut on a kennedy. As you can see, it's a little nasty, even blown up. If you were to see that at actual size, the twigs are pin size.1 point -

Have been flat out like a lizard drinking. It's the MAD season, especially at school with concerts, and end of year activities. Have also had two cancer's hacked out over the past two weeks. One in my arm 12 stitches and on in my thigh, yesterday, 15 stitches. Wear long sleeves, long strides and a broad brimmed hat, when outside at all times.1 point

I found a manual for the saw. The tension is adjusted with a knob on the rear of the saw. It has an ac motor, and the speed is changed by moving the drive belt on a pair of step pulleys. The clamps are pretty crude and require a tool to tighten. Not something I would want to use, and I certainly don't need it. I decided to pass. Interestingly, the clamps for EX21 might work. If I had taken it, I certainly would have tried. The manual is pretty bad, and it looks like you had to provide the motor. I did not see it mentioned anywhere in the manual. Great job on this one. Easy to see why you received the extra orders from it Dick heppnerguy1 point -
I'd be thrilled to receive a gift like this. I imagine that a variable speed motor could be retrofitted to it, and maybe even updated blade chucks. What a wonderful opportunity you have there! Don1 point

One of the early made saws, guessing from the mid 1990's.. Good saws, but parts might be an issue. If it runs and works, might take it down and service the bearings.. not a lot else goes wrong with these I don't think..1 point

I am new to this craft but am excited for you. That's a very kind and generous offer of someone to you. Loving machinery as I do, as well as enjoying learning the evolution of scroll saw technology, I'll be very interested to follow here and learn along with you. I do like the off-saw motor arrangement. Don1 point
