  1. We're pretty big fans of Little Debbie Christmas Trees in my family so I made my wife a pair of earrings.

  2. Have had fun with these. All are Poplar cut with a combination of Pegasus #7 mg and #5 skip tooth. Dipped on 1 coat of clear Shellac and will get several coats of clear gloss Lacquer when dry. I think I will try one just a bit smaller than the smallest of these just for the fun of it. Both 2D and 3D.

    Another Celtic cross

  5. Here is my contribution to the Charlie Brown Christmas trees. I had a fun cutting these out. Cut them from 1/4 inch poplar. My sincere thanks to Barb Enders for leading me to Scrollercafe and more importantly how to navigate the web site. As an Air Force navigator one would think I would have no problem, my wife used to say I could find anyplace in the world, but couldn't get around in the city. Jerry

    Re-Stock

Here is a short video of things I have been working on over the last few weeks. They are for my last show of the season on December 17th. I spent a week, or so, cutting everything. As week, or so, sanding. And then another week, or so, finishing. Still have to get the shrink wrap on the puzzles. 20221204_141103.mp4

  8. Finally finished. I found working with the red oak to be extremely difficult for achieving the lacquered finish on top. The three on the right are red oak with walnut inlay. The other 3 are white oak with Jaboba wood inlay. The interiors each contain a Pentel .5mm and .7mm "Quicker Clicker Pencils", spare lead for each, spare erasers for each plus a Staedler eraser and an eraser template held by a magnet in the cover.

  9. I bought some of these 1/4 sheet pads Friday. I have not used them enough to talk about durability yet but these things really cut. I have used the 120 and 180 grit on Poplar boards and they leave almost a glass like finish at the 180 level. Might be worth a try if your are in the market. https://www.harborfreight.com/painting/painting-supplies/sandpaper-sheets/4-12-in-x-5-12-in-60-grit-14-sheet-sandpaper-with-ceramic-alumina-grain-5-pack-58136.html

  10. Cute idea. We like Little Debbie’s around here too. Don’t forget they aren’t real though.

  16. The Sleigh Image was a free downloadable zip file that included a SVG file which I was able to manipulate in Inkscape. I sized the image to fit within an oval I created (approximately 11 1/2” x 15 1/2”) that I cut from a piece of 1/2” x 12” x 16” sanded ply. The image was cut from 1/8” thick BB ply. The backer was painted white with Krylon rattle can paint. I used Artist Acrylics to paint the cut panel (originally image was only B&W) and the perimeter vertical edge of the backer. The assembled Plaque was protected with multiple coats of Clear Minwax Polycrylic finish. Just another Xmas decoration that will be stored away 11 months of the year. Comments and critiques welcome.

  17. Personally, I have tried their sandpaper and gotten very inconsistent results. After spending a lot of time making and sanding something, I find it leaves a few odd scratches. Maybe on small things not an issue but on larger surfaces, it is a problem. Now, I use only Klingspor or Norton products. More expensive but better results.

  18. I use alot of their sand paper. I have no problems with the wet dry paper, but the red sanding paper, when it gets warm, leaves a red color on the wood.

I haven’t used it yet but have gotten their belts for my sander. They’re as good as any others and not as expensive.

  23. Hey everyone! In this fun scroll saw project video we make a beautiful Christmas Themed Candy Dish! This Steve Good design uses 1/4 & 1/8 inch material. This is a perfect project to make if you are learning tabbed designs and is also perfect for Traditional Christmas Candies! Hope you all like the video! #ArtisanPirate

  29. @meflick Thank you, that may be some help when I finally get started on this project. Thankfully they asked me well in advance, LOL The person on that blog did message me also and said they found the plans and put them up on the blog post, said if I had any questions feel free to ask so that was very nice. Hope to get started on this maybe late January..

    Shawl Pin

This was an easy project. My wife made herself a shawl and asked me to make a pin to keep it from slipping off. I found several ideas on Pinterest. I used the Snipping Tool to do a capture and printed a couple out. I taped one image to a window and put a clean piece of bond over it and traced the pattern. The stock is re-sawn oak from a pallet stringer that paper came on. The finish is mineral oil. As always thanks for reading.

    Ugly Sweaters

I first watched Steve Good's video where he used the clay. Basically I placed the ornament on a piece of parchment paper, rolled a bit of clay to warm up and then "crammed it" into the space. Then baked for 15 minutes at 275 in my toaster oven on a different piece of parchment paper. This is the product I used. https://canada.michaels.com/en/2oz-polymer-clay-craft-smart/M10268070.html?dwvar_M10268070_size=2&dwvar_M10268070_color=Red

    Where Is Everyone?

I've been busy with many things not hobby related. But also when time permits working on Christmas gifts. I also decided to give the 3-D reindeer earrings a try so I've been chatting with @CharleyL about how he does it. Here are my first two attempts out of mahogany. Gonna buy some hard maple today if I can find some.

Even though I haven't post anything I have been working but I have also been teaching a 19yo girl to scroll and she is loving it. Any way here are a few things I have made. They are all Sue Mey patterns. The first Christmas Bells are made from 2.5mm Bamboo, the second ones are made from 4mm pine and so are the gnomes. They are all for a Christmas in July driveway market at my daughters. Marg

    Bruce Dern

Bruce Dern as Asa "Long Hair" Watts from the 1972 John Wayne film, "The Cowboys." One of the meanest, back shooting baddies in the West. Love to hate him.

    A FrankEV pattern

I liked your pattern Frank so I took a try at it. Cut from 1/4 Maple with a 1/8BB backer using a #2 spiral blade. I made the frame from alder and stained it. I must say the painting was challenging-getting the colors in the right place on the backer was time consuming. I probably went about the hard way

    VW's and Caravans

I had these two VW's I made quite a while ago, and decided they needed something extra to take to markets so a couple Tear Drop caravans became the order of the day. The complete unit measures about 330mm in length.

    VW's and Caravans

Thank you. I don't have a pattern as such. I sketch my design onto 3mm ply, then cut it out, this becomes a template to draw around each time I want to make some.
