Heart Tray
Phantom Scroller and 7 others reacted to FrankEV for a topic
Steve Good recently issued a pattern for a Heart Tray. I had some Maple and Padauk boards left over from the Heart Box I made back last February (https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/45466-my-version-of-dave-monk%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%98box-for-valentines-day%E2%80%99/#comment-486165). I thought the Tray would make a good companion for the Box I gave my Lady. Was going to give it to her on Christmas but she saw and claimed it already. Laminated the Maple and Padauk making the tray walls 1 1/4” high. Stack cut the outside of laminated tray walls along with the 1/8” thick maple bottom first, then after removing the bottom, cut out the interior sections. Fairly easy cutting with Pegas #5 Skip tooth Blade. Lot of hand sanding creating the red dust everywhere. Attached bottom to walls with Superglue and applied multiple coats of Deft Clear Gloss Lacquer. Used the inside dropouts to trace and cut out the red felt bottom liner which I attached with spray adhesive. PITA to fit the sticky liner in its proper place. I prefer using wire. I use these hangers (see photo) that lay flat against the project. I use one on the left side and one on the right, then attach the wire to them. The main reason is that some of my projects are not center-balanced and I have had some issues with sawtooth hangers not holding the work level enough for me. With the wire, it is very easy to hang the work level. Also, I don't like things to mark up the wall, so I add either felt or rubber pads to the work. I usually get the work hung so all four pads are touching the wall and this is how I keep the work flat to the wall. The small gap is not very noticeable. There, I spent my 2¢ for the day.2 points

Clock

Had this pattern for a while now, not sure why I hadn't cut it before. Can't recall who the pattern is by (name is not on the page) but I believe I got it out of the Pattern Library here. Had to fiddle around with the clock insert diameter to get the right size, but finally managed to get the hole to the size that would fit the clock insert I ordered from Amazon. Not a lot of interior cuts on this one, most of the time is spent on the exterior.1 point -

Hangers for pictures

I have used the same method as Dan, two hangers and wire between, I also used some great hangers from The Wooden Teddy Bear (Unfortunately no longer available). Now it's a thin sash cord and I staple it equal distance on each upright of the frame. Cheap and secure1 point -
I hope you are using a mask. I have just finally surrendered and begun to wear one while scrolling and especially sanding.1 point

My cutting was pretty neat, so it did not require a lot of sanding. Just needed to smooth everything with a fine grit and fix up the tight intersections a little. However, cutting and sanding Padauk creates that fine red dust that gets all over everything. Although it feel dry, it stick to all surfaces like filings on a magnet.1 point

Thanks for the welcome. The rear release on the Wen 21" has 2 positions, one locks arm up or down the other lets it float. I just let it float and have no problems so far.1 point -

These are two of Steve Good's patterns I cut for my grandchildren (trucks) and son and daughter (cross). I actually cut one other truck for another grandson but he is a little older and I plan to stain his rather than color. The colors or the other three grandchildren's favorite colors. I still have to glue and spray a finish. I plan on using Polyacrylic.1 point

The wire hanger is lower, so it hides the wall hook.1 point
