It's been a while since I posted some photos but I finally got the sorted so here goes. The named animal ornament are by Steve Good. The Gnomes and the bell ornaments are by Sue Mey. Made from pine. The Jumpers are out of the Christmas addition of SC &C Magazine. Cut with PGM #3 They have paper on both sides, darker on one side and lighter on the other. The elephant is a chalk board. The car is by Alex Fox. I'm not to happy with it so I will make another on next year. The jewelry is by Steve Good Marg13 points

Trinket boxes (apple & butterfly). Pattern by Paul Meisel. Size of apple design is 2 ¼” x 3” x 1 ½”, butterfly 5” x 2 ¼” x 1 ½”. Lid slides open on a dowel. Woods used were lace wood, poplar, maple, walnut, paduak, cherry, & wedge. Inside of each flocked. Finished with clear satin polyurethane and polished with bees wax. Very easy and fun to make and best of all you get to make use of any scraps. Thank you.8 points -
FIRST PROJECT
Phantom Scroller and 4 others reacted to Ron Johnson for a topic
Ah, I can vividly remember my first project going back 24 years. I had just built my 8 x 12 workshop and purchased my first scroll saw. A 16” Craftsman, and couldn’t wait to get started. Photo attached was my first project, and it was a Christmas gift for my mother. I think I spent at least three evenings till midnight completing this. I was finally done and proud as hell. My mother was very pleased, it was the first thing she would put out on display each Christmas season. When she passed in 2007 I received it back. Here it is. A Christmas window scene cut out on ⅛” oak and enclosed within an oak frame and red acrylic backing on a mahogany stand. Now my wife puts it out on display each Christmas season as well. What was your first project and story? Love to hear it. Merry Christmas everyone.5 points -
Giraffes and T Rex Puzzles
frankorona and 4 others reacted to Sycamore67 for a topic
These are two more of the puzzles I made for the Grandkids. The Giraffes were made from Quarter sawn Sycamore. I wish that I had shaped the Giraffes but the Grandkids love the puzzle. The T Rex puzzle was one of my favorites with the tree and volcanoes in the background. The Giraffes and T Rex are designs from Judy and Dave Peterson. I have made many of their puzzles for the Grandkids.5 points -

First of all let me wish all of you here at The Village a Wonderful and Joyful Christmas. I an sure just about everyone here will know this Fair Ride, Every Fair I have ever been to has one of these, The Pirate Ship as it's called most of the time. I found this pattern floating around on the net, I also found the kit, but someone(bless him) posted the pattern itself for free. It took a few days, but I got it together. Now I have to decide to sell it or keep it.4 points -

Just had to do some Christmasy at the last of the season. Something fun to make. And as an added bonus, if you don't use tape and apply the pattern directly to the wood, you get this neat picture to past to the shop door! HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A JOYOUS CHRISTMAS.. BE SAFE LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF PLACES ARE HAVE SNOW..4 points -

First true Intarsia project
frankorona and 2 others reacted to barb.j.enders for a topic
Here is my attempt at an intarsia project. I have done segmentation but this was "technically" intarsia, even though it was cut from the same wood. The wood is black ash, which I received from a friend - it was in his burn bin!! The wood is about 3/4" thick. Used a Flying Dutchman #3 full reverse. Finished with the Beeswax "Butter" that I got as a hostess gift. It is not completely finished. I want to put another coat or two of the wax on and then I have to attach the backer, but I thought is was close enough to post here. There are certainly "happy accidents" but if you can't see them I won't tell you where they are!!! I love the grain of the wood and thought it lent itself well to the project. Comments & critiques are welcome.3 points -

I do try though. When I'm cutting I'm at peace with the world , but everything else that goes with it bogs me down . The brain isn,t what it used to be and I need every short cut I can take to get er done! These ornaments are cut from the dollar tree large thin already cut shapes for $1.25. Turkeys and pumpkins I can get about 5 ornaments from each .I cut over 40 but keep forgetting to snap a photo.1 point -
Heart Coaster

This is a gift for Dianne Arnquist Knappen. The pattern is by Charles Hand and found in the book "Circular Scroll Saw Designs". I used 1/2" Hard Maple 4" square. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #1 MGT blades. I sell Pegas supplies online at: artcraftersonline.com. The finish is dipping in diluted Shellac and the one coat spray Lacquer Clear Satin. Comments welcome.1 point -

Vacuum before you blow to get the most off. Blowing just puts the dust back into the air to be filtered by your poor lungs and to settle back down where it came from.1 point -

Where to Find Laminated HDF?
danny reacted to The Chipmunk for a topic
Hey everyone! Glad to be part of the village . I have a question. A guy I follow on Etsy and YouTube cuts beautiful patterns, but uses 3mm laminated high density fiberboard. I've been looking, haven't been able to find where to purchase it. I usually work with 1/8" birch, but the finishing portion with sanding, staining, and varnishing is kind of a pain at times. Does anyone have suggestions for HDF? Photo of one my very first project attached from last year at Christmas. I've gotten a bit better now.1 point -
Where to Find Laminated HDF?
danny reacted to The Chipmunk for a topic
KJP select had them, and I already bought two of their multi packs. Thank you, Don! I did see the project boards at Home Depot and Lowes, but I needed larger sizes for this specific project I want to make. I'll post pictures later on. This is such a cool community! Very excited to be a part of it. Thanks! Jess1 point -
Welcome to the Village. I've get laminated wood from Lowe's but it's just less than 1/4-inch. The Birch and Oak is layered where the Maple is veneer to an unknown filler, possibly some type of wood. I haven't found any 1/8-inch wood at the Lowe's in my area.1 point

I recently heard about the Southwest Association of Turners Southwest Association of Woodturners (swaturners.org). I haven't been to one but will try to go in 2023. It is a 3-day event for wood turners. Not scroll sawing, but at least wood working. it sounds like quite an event. Maybe someday the world of scroll sawing can do something like this.1 point

We did a gift exchange at work for about 20 of us. This was a virtual meeting on computers. The concept was to order from Amazon and keep it under $35. But I am a non-conformist. I said I would make something. The company logo is a Big R, and our brand is a light bulb "iwatt" is the brand. Notice the "iw" as the filiament in the bulb. We design integrated circuits (chips). I obtained some silicon wafers and cut a small circle that fits inside the light bulb. Inliad "yellow heart" into "purple heart". I still need to put a finish on it.1 point

I think part of the problem is the cost of the venues. The show promoters got greedy too. And then along came Amazon. I've heard about a few get togethers out in farmer's fields. They would be fun.1 point
