  1. Of the many things I've made from Steve, the god father of scroll, this is only thing I have a picture of. His pattern didn't have this as a lighted project but I thought it would be cool with some LEDs added.

  2. As everyone has mentioned - Steve Good is a great resource and I am glad that I found his blog. I have cut a lot of his patterns, so it is hard to choose what to post. Here are few that I have done.

  3. For Christmas, my wife got me a very nice office drafting chair. I am attaching a picture of my old Craftsman chair and the new one. I have a very bad back and this new chair is great for scrolling with much better back support.

  7. Made a frame from pine, burnt it with a blow torch and then brushed it with a wire brush until I achieved the desired effect. Then applied sanding sealer and a clear coat of Matt varnish.

  8. I don't post a lot because I am so busy cutting but here is some I have cut. I worked at a daycare several years back and made each of the babies one of these . The parents thought it was really cool and the upper management wrote me a letter thanking me for being so thoughtful . I do this hobby because I like to see peoples faces when I give them a gift. I now work on an Air force base so the veteran plaques are a big thing to do . It is a modified Steve Good pattern.. Thank you Steve for all you do for the scrolling community.

  9. My girlfriends mom is a big time gardener, so I made a complete set of plant stakes from our pattern library. She said, " I'm not putting those in the ground, they're too nice ". 3/8" elm, #1 FD polar blades, BLO finish. 21 stakes, 10 hrs cutting, just under 30 minutes per stake.

  10. Patrick Maxwell Renna as Hamilton "Ham" Porter from the movie, "The Sandlot." I was more of a Smalls, "made straight A's and sh*t" but thought too much to be good at sports. So great when the "Benny the Jets" encourage the "Smalls" of the world. I had one or two in my life. Sorry if you don't recognize the references. Love this movie!

    New Scrolling Chair

I am really liking it but am removing the casters for just plain feet. It will feel more secure to me that way.

  19. Cut a lot of Steve Good stuff over the years, mostly due to my love for sarcasm or my wife, one of the two. Sometimes both. Some of my first layered patterns were a Steve Good patterns, and all of the boxes I've made have been Steve Good patterns.

  20. Made ornaments for friends and relatives again this year. this is a Steve Good pattern that didn’t show up on his site but a web search gets it. 20 ornaments. A keen eye will see two are reversed from the rest, as well as a few missed detail cuts on a few. Nothing anyone can notice unless they are side by side; I’ve just got to work on double checking parts before the Final Cut.

    Restoration

This old toy car is 7 ½” L x 3 ½” W x 3”H. Sister in law acquired this from a yard sale for.60 cents. It was in pieces, with only two wheels, broken bumpers with headlights and taillights needing replacing. It was in sad shape so I decided to try and restore this beauty. Lightly sanded the original finish and applied a natural oil finish. Not sure of the wood spieces. Made new bumpers of Aspen, headlights taillights of Ebony along with new wheels. Really enjoyed doing the restoration.

    New Scrolling Chair

Thanks for all the comments. Yes, the chair will greatly enhance comfort. My back is held together with screws, links and wires. The chair will allow me more time to sit and scroll. I had been looking at a lot of different ones and this one was perfect.

  37. Biplane cut from Luan plywood. My grandson wanted this and the Luan was the only thing I had available. I figure it would be broken in short order but it is still going after more than a year. It is surprisingly strong.

  44. What do you do with a Firewood slice from the neighbor? It is oak. Max thickness 2.25". Barely fits in a hawk. This was quick experiment. Take @alexfox 's bobcat pattern, resize and put it on the slice with spray glue 77. scroll saw the outline of the face out. Make a tiny drawer. I used 9 deg angle cut so i can remove the inside core piece. get 2 Slices off bottom of core. use 2nd slice as bottom of drawer. #7 super skip blade. Carve lots of wood around bobcat as outline. I used rotary tool and kutzall bit. Make sure the rock the bobcat is standing on is higher than the sky background. Carve out face, drill eye holes, not too deep. Use harbor freight diamond rotary tool set to add hair all over the body, face ears, and claws. Black paint for eyes. Mohaganay stain to hilight bobcat. I spent 5 hours total on this project. Gave the slice of wood back to the neighbor.

    Leopard Cut Update

    great job

  46. In very detailed patterns like my Leopard some of the areas where are very, very small and difficult to see. I use a Dremel plunge router with the springs removed and added a small magnifying glass, available from model hobby shops the guys use them to paint models etc. It comes with a stand which I put into storage added a small bracket and now I can see perfectly. WAARNING please be careful keep your fingers under the one plunger i.e. I’m tight handed so I use my left hand for this. Then once it is placed on the pattern a slowly loosen the plunger setting knob, so the weight of the Dremel slides down under its own weight, it works like dream but you have tighten the router after drilling a couple of holes so that the holes are always vertical, once you got the hang of it is great. Hope you find this tip helpful.

    Earlier works . . .

Nice work, we don’t care when you did it. However, I have to say usually when most folks use “DW” as an abbreviation, it usually refers to “darling wife” or maybe. “D$#@ wife” if upset with her. So, I first read that sentence as my darling wife so she was making aweful noise and wasn’t sure how you planned to open her up. Finally the brain worked and figured out you meant your saw, I’m assuming It’s a Dewalt.
