  1. A dear friend of mine builds lots of boxes and furniture. For years he's gifted me his offcuts and scraps. Mixed cherry, hard maple, mahogany, black walnut, a bit of oak and a few bits of poplar. All air and kiln dried. With a 15 month old grandson I see airplanes, animal pull toys and puzzles in his future emanating forth from Penny's and my shop. Chuck (the gift giver) refuses any payment. Both my Beloved Ms. Penny and I will use this sorted stack for many things together. Wanted to share my joy. My best to all here! Don

    Just So You Know

I have been making some things. I just finished this Marine Emblem. This is the 6th one I have made. Everytime I make one I end up giving it to a Marine I meet. Then I have to make myself another one. The last one I gave to a Marine, it was my Dental Hygienist. She was pretty excited.. So here it the last one. I am now starting a Navy one for a retired Navy friend. He spent 35 years in the Navy.. He deserves one.

  4. I have cut a fair few of Steve's patterns, like everyone else but this is one that always puts a smile on my face. I modified it so that I could give it to my dentist. I colored parts orange because he was in the orange room but by the time I got to give them to him he had moved into the green room. Marg

  7. Maybe @Denny Knappen can give some good insight on the Pegas. I can’t. the one time I tried to do one of these type of bowls, I was using my Dewalt. You could not tilt the head, you had to tilt the table. I hade a really hard time trying to cut with the table tilted. That bowl became firewood as best as I can remember. That was fairly early in my scrolling, and I haven’t tried again, even with my saws that I have now that tilts the head versus the table. I’ll try again one day, so I’ll be interested in seeing what you learn.

  8. Congratulations and sounds like you have a great friend. I look forward to seeing what you create from this treasure trove.

  9. I have 2 Ex saws and have cut bowls with no problem. I think if you loosen the table hold down bolts and adjust the table so that it doesn't contact the blade at full tilt and then retighten them. You may have to readjust your blade clamps to compensate. Once you get this done you shouldn't have to do it again.

I don’t remember who did this here on SSV awhile ago. I found it again and did the pattern from a picture. The initials are both my wife and I. I used some bass wood my brother gave me. It’s really soft wood and doesn’t take much of the finish. I used 321. BLO semi gloss poly and mineral spirits. Thanks for looking.

    Alex Fox Basket C03

A finished Alex Fox basket pattern C03 enlarged 30%. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood 10" square. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #1 MGT blades. After sanding with a Mac Mop, I glued each ring and waited for the glue to dry, so the glue up took time. The finish is spray Lacquer Clear Gloss. Comments welcome.

    "Ham" from The Sandlot

Patrick Maxwell Renna as Hamilton "Ham" Porter from the movie, "The Sandlot." I was more of a Smalls, "made straight A's and sh*t" but thought too much to be good at sports. So great when the "Benny the Jets" encourage the "Smalls" of the world. I had one or two in my life. Sorry if you don't recognize the references. Love this movie!

    Just So You Know

Kinda hard to explain. But basically, sometimes a disgruntled user will go through all of their previous posts and delete them. It basically opens up SSV to vandalism. You can ask me to remove a post and I can do it for you, though.

  14. Chuck is a wonderful long-time friend. Hefting the hard maple, I believe that will be my preferred wood for toys. Don

So we don’t appear perfect. @Travis suddenly my emojis are not showing in a posted reply (even though I see them before hitting to post.) If I click on the emoji head, to find an emoji, it is all blank. Wasn’t sure if this was due to some update maybe.

I’m glad you keep making more, and giving them away to veterans you meet. Thank you to you and all the veterans who have served our country and those who have served throughout the world.

  22. I would have assumed the same as you. I wonder if it is the same on a Seyco. I never tried cut at a slant on my Seyco when I had it. One alternative you could try, is slant the table as far as you can without hitting the side the hole then make a wedge to make up the remaining degrees. Would be awkward but might work.. however I will be very disappointed it this is true about the saw. Would almost be false advertising. Can not wait to read the answers. Does the table have slot that the bolts go so it could be shifted right or left if needed?

  23. I don't post a lot because I am so busy cutting but here is some I have cut. I worked at a daycare several years back and made each of the babies one of these . The parents thought it was really cool and the upper management wrote me a letter thanking me for being so thoughtful . I do this hobby because I like to see peoples faces when I give them a gift. I now work on an Air force base so the veteran plaques are a big thing to do . It is a modified Steve Good pattern.. Thank you Steve for all you do for the scrolling community.

  27. Of the many things I've made from Steve, the god father of scroll, this is only thing I have a picture of. His pattern didn't have this as a lighted project but I thought it would be cool with some LEDs added.

  28. As everyone has mentioned - Steve Good is a great resource and I am glad that I found his blog. I have cut a lot of his patterns, so it is hard to choose what to post. Here are few that I have done.
