Another Lord Of The Rings piece. I did one like this a few years ago only smaller. This one is about 11" X 15". We're redoing our spare bedroom and I wanted a bigger one to put above my Grandfather's old dresser. (Actually, my bedroom. We sleep better that way. ) It doubles as the Grandkid's room when they're over so my wife came up with the idea of the art hangers over the righthand bed. I also built the beds a couple of weeks ago. I also have my reading corner in this room that I posted a picture of the other day. I feel like I'm in The Shire.9 points

Easter - He Is Risen
Tbow388 and 3 others reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
I finished two (Stack Cut) Easter - He Is Risen" pattern by Keith Fenton. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood for the face and 3/8" for the backer. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #1 MGT blades. The backer is stained black. The finish is one coat spray Shellac as a sanding sealer and two coats spray Lacquer Clear Satin with sanding between coats. Comments welcome.4 points -
Stained glass window designs as scroll saw projects ?
ChelCass and 2 others reacted to Scrollshrimp for a topic
Hello all. While visiting a beautiful old Norman church with the wife a few days ago, I got to thinking if the patterns of the stained glass windows could be used in scroll saw patterns. I would have thought that it would be possible to cut a window pattern as a segmented or intarsia project if you had a good selection of different woods ( sort of like marquetry ). Another option maybe would be to cut the pieces out of say 1/4" birch plywood then paint the pieces before re assembly. My original idea was to cut just inside the line of each piece of glass then the lead that holds the glass in place would become a wooden frame around each piece. Sorry if this sounds confusing but I can't think of a better way to describe what I'm getting at ! Just wondered if anyone has tried this ? Regards, Alan.3 points -

That is exactly what I mean !3 points -
I can envision what you are saying. The leaded lines, being thicker, once cut out would act as a frame for all the colored pieces that would be fit into it. Neat idea.3 points

Hey Everyone! In this scroll saw project we make an awesome Leo The Lion Zodiac Puzzle (I'm A Leo!) from the Zodiac Puzzles For Scroll Saw Woodworking book by Fox Chapel Publishing. I use 3/8 inch Red Oak in for the puzzle. Hope you all like the video! #ArtisanPirate2 points -

Okay, I just got another message from Seyco and thought I'd better share it since I stated it took them months to reply and this is the reason why.. I didn't put the whole email as he made me an offer to replace that motor at their cost for the motor and I felt that is not needed for everyone to know that price. I will say that their price is more than what I can go straight to Metrovac's website and buy it from them so they said free shipping to me but I'm doubtful of that since I can buy cheaper directly from Metrovac.. regardless that is just how some business works.. Here is the reply message explaining why they took so long to get back to my original message, LOL Kevin First I apologize for not responding to your email - we have moved our system over to a new server back in November and a new webpage which starts on March 1st and we dropped the ball on answering some emails. The motor comes with a one year warranty and I understand it is two years old but I would still like to help you. I can sell you a motor at my cost if you would like to do that and Seyco will pay the shipping to you ?2 points

The Prancing Pony

We all have things to do with our health where we can improve on how we live. Some it is smoking, some eating or over eating, some Alcohol, others drugs.. some just not getting any exercise. For me it is mostly not drinking enough water. Our health should be our most important focus but it's not for most of us. We have turned into a society of poor choices in our lives. We pay the price of such but we can't seem to always do what we know we need to do. Then there are those that are really focused on their health and do everything they can to only what they know is correct to maintain good health and they end up dying early do to cancer or some generic thing they have no way to control. None of us have any guarantees for a long healthy life. I am a particularly lucky guy as I am almost 83 years old and my health is excellent. I just feel really blessed and also understand I could be dead tomorrow. I hope you find some relief from your problems. Dick heppnerguy1 point -

I ran across this pattern on Steve Good's site and found it was a really quick and easy one to cut. since I only wanted to spend about an hour in my shop today, I grabbed the opportunity to make it. I wasn't very happy with the stars on the tail and wings as they stood out as being Russian and since I am upset by what Russia is currently up to in The Ukraine right now. But I believe it is Steve Good's use of the star as being American instead and I am using his pattern, I left it as is. When I got it cut and ready to assemble I decided it was a little too plain and decided to round out the leading edge of the wings and the fuselage also the rockets. I thought it made it look quite a bit better and I am planning of giving to to my 5 year old Great Grandson. I made it from a piece of Poplar wood, 1/4 inch Dick heppnerguy1 point -

Here is the first Kenny Hopkins pattern I believe I have cut. I have had the pattern for sometime and have wanted to cut it but never got around to it until this week. My wife is in Montana visiting one of our great grand daughters so I was trying to find something to cut in my shop while she was gone and came across this pattern and decided to give it a shot. Here are the results. I cut it from 1/4 inch Baltic Birch. it is 17 X 11 inches. I made an extended backer board to work as a frame as I did not have long enough pieces of wood in my shop to cut one. It really isn't a very special project and not something I am really interested in but I was just looking for a quick and easy piece to cut to take up an hour of my time. I showed it to my Grand Daughter yesterday and told her I was going to give it to her son and she said, he probably wouldn't get it because she would take it instead. Needed to get some stock for a couple of quick commissions and to finish a couple others. Pictured below are some of the stuff I got today from Ocooch Hardwoods: A beautiful piece of 8 x 3/4 cherry and a couple of book matched butternut pieces. Didn't ask for or need book matched pieces, but they sure did make my eyes pop as I opened the box.1 point -

I too like the kidney bowl. two questions. what angle are you using? do you drill a hole at the same angle to start your cut? Or do you enter from the side and glue each piece back together? ok so that was three questions.. Oops1 point

The butcher block one is 1" (actual) thick Maple butcher block countertop. If you can imagine several hundred 1 inch pieces being glued up together sideways. I took the piece that I had (4"x18"), planed it down to 3/4 cut 4" sections glued them together opposing and then cut away.1 point

wow. 127,00 views and no comments? I can't hardly believe that. It seems that every post someone makes get several comments. I like your word pattern and the way you added to sparkles to it, however I was a little disapointed in the difficulty to view it as the black color simply did not seem to stand out very well but it was the perfect color for Halloween. Good job Travis Dick heppnerguy1 point
