Here is an Interesting thought... With the market of home exercise equipment this would do well. Lets just modernize it and put in on 3 items... 1 treadmill 2 stair stepper 3 exercise bike. us old guys can loose weight while doing a great hobby.4 points -
One of my blessings is that I get to take two of my grandkids to school everyday. My 9 year old grandson, Ryder, a big baseball fan, surprised me one morning this week with a pattern he drew and wanted me to cut. He really did a great job. I think I had explained to him once a while back about bridges. I didn't know he was really listening.3 points

Pegus clamps on a De Walt 788

I always secure the blade in the top clamp, drop it through and secure the bottom one (it doesn't take but a second to align the blade in the bottom clamp) then I'll undo the top clamp and bottom feed ..... I don't undo the bottom clamp again till I change blades. I've tried top feeding but ..... I guess I'm so used to bottom feeding .....2 points -

I did see there were additional videos too, but I just wanted to share this short one as I did not want to have those that stumbled onto it, to be turned off by the link because there is just so much interesting and amazing things this kid has done. I am glad you shared that too because now if anyone's desire to dive further into this subject, they are aware of the other videos and have a choice to see them if they wish. Thanks for bringing it to the attention of others that may wish to explore further on this guys work. Dick heppnerguy1 point -
Hitachi Scroll Saw

Yes, removing the side panel made blade changes much faster and efficient.1 point -
This is true, but the hardest thing to get used to for me was mentally disconnecting what my feet were doing from what my hands were doing. With a modern saw you only have to pay attention to what your hands are doing. With a treadle you need to keep a steady rhythm with your feet regardless of how your hands are moving. Still enjoyable1 point

There was a recent thread that discussed blade loading. Youi might find some helpful tips on blade loading there. https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/49085-dw788-blade-clamps/#comment-5156451 point -
I just went to find the one you mentioned Paul and found this one also. Give it a watch. This guy has waaaay to much patience. I could never undertake anything like this and complete it. Enjoy.1 point

I really like it. Can your share the pattern source? Our granddaughter just bought a new house, and this would be a nice present. Also, any tips on the two sections (?) finish would be appreciated.1 point -

Pegus clamps on a De Walt 788
barb.j.enders reacted to dgman for a topic
Gene, the Pegas clamps will make your saw easier to use and run better. They will hold your blade tighter and reduce blade slippage, that is until the set screws and thumb screws wear. I don’t know if they will be any easier to clamp the bottom clamp as you will have to adjust to a different clamp. But once you get used to them, you will love them. I have a Pegas saw and love it. I also have them on my DeWALT saw.1 point -

This project has taken me along time almost a year. Yea I lost interest for awhile. It is almost working. I have a few tunings to do. It is almost is done. I need to get an empty wine bottle instead of a soda bottle. I need to change out the white kite string. The design is called "Merlot" from Derek Hugger. Since the wine name I stayed with that theme and hand painted grape vines on the lever arms. The backing is wine slats from winery. The Purple and yellow are stained. All wood is baltic birch plywood. Except the backer slats. I wanted to try a kinetic sculpture but did not want a clock. These plans are easy to follow. But the assembly and tuning is always tweaking stuff. Ballancing by adding weights. This is huge 44 inches wide. I don't have a band saw so it was all cut with scroll saw.1 point

Much work went into this collection of Bad Bob's Custom Motors cars. Several coats of white primer sanding between coats until smooth and the wood grain did not show through. Then multiple coats of flat acrylic paint were sanded between each coat until the white primer was covered. It took a lot of coats for the yellow one. I topped them off with clear gloss acrylic. The was a yellow sedan, but my grandson wanted to give it to a friend for a birthday gift before I decided to take the photo.1 point

one for my Canadian frend and neighbor
Tbow388 reacted to heppnerguy for a topic
This was a challenge for me. I have never made an intarsia pattern on my own before. My neighbor came to me with a photo of the military airplane he spent his 25 Canadian Air force carrier in. This aircraft was used to search the ocean waters for enemy subs. I found it very challenging for me because he kept changing what I was doing and he kept wanting it to be more of a model than an intarsia item. I was really wanting to making it just the way he wanted it but every change, along the way, put more doubt in my success to make it happen and added a lot of extra time to the process. This project is 28 inches long and approximately 14 inches high. I used a woodburner to make the stripe on the body of the plane black. Dick heppnerguy1 point
