  4. Hello all, The pattern for these Chinese symbols is from Steve Good's Scrollsaw Workshop, they are actually for making pendants but I thought I'd try something different. The main part is a block of offcut Cherry and I have absolutely no idea what the base is made from, again it's from the scrap bin. The 2 symbols mean love and family. Pegas reverse skip tooth no.3. Regards Alan.

    Devil skull

Most of my patterns and projects are animals, butterflies, sealife etc, but sometimes I want to make something different and unusual. Here is my new pattern: Devil skull - project could be assembled without gluing, with dowels. It consists of 47 pieces and 2 dowels, recommended size: 4,5 x 3,5 x 5,5 inches. Unfortunately I cant cut new projects now, so preview images are not photos, it is 3D visualisation. Pattern at https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexFoxUA

    Baltic Birch Plywood

Hi All. I'm writing up an article on Baltic Birch plywood for our Articles section and I thought I'd crowd-source some feedback as it relates to scrollers. What do you find Baltic Birch most useful for? What kind of projects? How else do you use it? Any tips you'd like to share? Please share your knowledge and experience.

  10. The 1/2" makes great stock for drawers and other square ish containers. Especially if you use the quarter, quarter, quarter method.

  11. I pretty much use it only for fretwork pictures, in 1/4" and 1/8" thickness. I have used it a couple times in boxes, but usually I use hardwoods for boxes. I use very little of it now that it is running around $60 a 5'x5' sheet. Might as well by hardwoods. I also understand there are different grades of BB. From what I have seen locally lately we are getting mostly the poorer grades.

Thank you DakOta (Rodney) for the great pattern. She really loved it. I thought she was going to cry when she saw it. I will be cutting out the eagle pattern you made later this month, I have to catch up on somethings before.. Thank you again Mimi

    Wax time

I've said many times that I do wax my saw tables depending on how much use at least once a month and a couple times a year I also wax the whole saw stand and all.. The fine sawdust falls completely to the floor instead of sticking the the machine and stands.. much easier to take the vac and clean up the shop a lot better plus it wards off any corrosion that might try to set in.. Keeps the equipment looking good and well cared for even though I run the heck outta my saws.. they all look new still..

    Wax time

I always wax, sometimes 2X a day when I was doing shows. I also apply candle or paraffin wax to the running blade frequently. It improves my accuracy and makes cutting much easier. Blades don't heat up from friction as fast either, so last longer. Charley

    # 9

This years' addition to my Norman Rockwell baseball themed puzzles. Number nine in the collection. It is a essentially a tray puzzle (hence no locks connecting the pieces) cut along the color lines of the picture. Overall 8"x10", puzzle approx 6" square, 55 pcs. If you are interested you can see the others (except for last years' - haven't gotten that one uploaded yet) here: https://heirloomwoods.wordpress.com/album-2/cards-and-puzzles/norman-rockwell/

    Wax time

Yes. I waxed mine as soon as I got it and as needed, ever since. It's easy and only takes a few minutes. I don't have concerns with moisture. I just like the feel of the wood gliding over the waxed table on my scroll saw. More so than even on my other steel & cast iron topped tools (table saw, band saw, etc).

    Wen broken bearing.

Man, I hope what I had read in the past was just a misunderstanding from whoever posted it. If it's anything like my old Dewalt you'll love it and should be trouble free for a lot of years. I production cut with mine for 4 years before it needed anything. Production cutting is probably an understatement too.. I ran the heck out of that saw.

  39. Lol. No rain on my parade. So far so good with the Dewalt. Mine arrived with no finish flaws I could find. All adjustments seemed very close. I did go over all nut and bolts and double checked all adjustable adjustments. Mine also does not seem to cut aggressively as I have heard others talk about. I will keep everyone posted on this saw as I continue to use it.

    Wax time

I think all woodworking machines need waxing if for no other reason than to ward off corrosion. On the aluminum, I think it stalls the oxidation that forms on aluminum. As for the Pegas, cars come painted too but we still wax them.

  44. Had a friend request a couple of verses. After some back and forth, I decided it would be best to make it a two piece project. Cut from 1/2" Red Oak. The top one is 8 X 14 inches and the lower one is 5 x 14. My design using Inkscape.
