    Almost finished

I have almost completed this jigsaw pattern, just a couple of coats of wax still to do. The Eagle is on vertical grain Sapele and the fish is on cross grain, both pieces of wood were 3/4" thick and I used Pegas Modified Geometry #1, #3 and #7. Turned out OK but I know what I need to do next time to make me happier with it.

    A few new pieces

A few new pieces while I am trying to make time for a trip to LL Johnson lumber. I need a nice piece for the pattern Don made me for my Chickens. All of these are cut out of floor boards. Scraps left over from when we installed our new floors.

  3. I did this one a while back. When leaving Jasper AB going west there is this very big “lake” not sure if you can call it that it was only about one foot deep ( haven’t been to Jasper for quite a while so not sure if it’s dried up). Anyway we saw a bear walking across the water and it looked like it was walking on water ( the kids called it the Jesus Bear). Even though this picture is a Grizzly walking on ice, it always reminds me of my favorite place on Earth, Jasper.

  5. This project was created on a cut-off from another piece of tiger maple with a defect in the left upper corner, A knot with a hole in the center was used to create the moon. The mountain simulation used tracings of the wood grain. Dick

  6. These would be some of my favourite outdoor projects. I don't have a picture of just the "Welcome to the Lake" sign, but I had one hanging on the boat until this spring when hubby dropped it. Now I need to cut another one. The puzzle is one of the spots we like to get to and anchor at for a couple of days. This is on Lake of the Woods, ON.

  9. About a year ago I made several planets, stars and rockets for my grandson's wall to match his bedding. He has recently become a huge Star Wars fan so I'm making some space ships from the movies and my son is secretly adding them to his wall one at a time. Here he is when he first saw the X Wing fighter. Last night they added the Bow Tie Fighter. I'm working on the Millennium Falcon. So much fun being a Pop!

  12. I am still learning about working with epoxy. The Tree of Life is my second attempt. The wood is 1/4" mesquite. Drips & Dragons is a Fiona Kingdon pattern I had cut a year or so ago. I had been trying to figure out how to finish it and this sounded right for it. The wood is 1/4" Monkeypod.

  14. Looking good. There are so many more things you'll be able to add too! Keep your grandkids curious! I find great joy in making stuff for my grandson. One day we'll do this together... I remember painting a clown with my grandfather, he was teaching me painting, I still have it 50+ years later.

  15. My grandson is 3 doors down from me! My daughter (and Son-in-law) bought the house a few years ago and got a really good deal before prices started to skyrocket. Nice only having two houses in-between! I get to see my grandson almost every day, and soon enough he'll be able to run to my house when I come home from work... Or by then I decide to retire. It's what I remember as a kid being close to my grandparents, at least until my father moved us hundreds of miles away

It was years ago and it went with a custom stand and dust control. And at the time there were no deals in effect. It had been tuned and maintained. She got a good saw.

    Coffee coaster

Coffee or tea cup coaster for workshop. Or sometimes can be used as a beer coaster, not very often. Made with fretsaw, Antilope #2 blades. An attempt to use celtic cross design.

  20. After two failed attempts at pouring resin, I cut this for the third time. This time in red oak. I opted to put a plexiglass cover on it rather than attempting another resin pour. It is a gift for my 5 year old grandson who has become a Star Wars fanatic. He watches with his dad, my son, who knows where the scary parts are and my sweet grandson covers up his eye till daddy says it's over. I love listening to him talk about Star Wars. He pronounces Luke, Wute, and he really likes The Umpire Strikes Back. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice about the resin pouring. Maybe I'll try again sometime. Maybe not.

  25. You sure know how to make your grandson one happy little camper. I love it when you realize what their interests are and you can then know what to make for them. I love his wall and obviously, so does he Dick heppnerguy

Nice work, Judy. I do have one question. The piece you have with the word, "EGGS" is shown with a rooster??? Still a nice piece though.

    My latest epoxy projects

That is great, I have that pattern cut and collected some stain glass to put behind it. I never got around to it. I think your's looks better than mine would with stain glass. May rethink and give epoxy a try.

  35. Looks great Charlie! I am impressed that you cut it 3 times. And the plexiglass cover looks good. Red Oak and epoxy are NOT a pairing made in heaven. You have to seal ALL the cut edges of the red oak before pouring. I hope you do not give up on epoxy. Having made a couple of mistakes, you are well on your way to learning the craft.

    Gluing a warped wood

The wood I cut my car out of is, quite disappointingly, very warped, but I had nothing else. So I was quite determined to get it to glue solidly to a flat backer and using 'overkill' it worked. I sandwiched it between two large flat pieces of wood, clamped it all around and added two 5 litre bottles of water and 4 large pieces of concrete. The frame, I hope,, will hide a multitude of sins

    Gluing a warped wood

When you take those clamps off, the concrete and water is going to be sent shooting straight up thru the ceiling. Really it will,,, I saw it happen in a cartoon once! LOL
