    Birthday Ornament

Just finished this Birthday ornament for a good friend of mine. I want to thank Don for doing this pattern so quick for me. We had a couple of problems with it. I had spelled the name wrong but Don was able to fix it for me. It measured around 5 inches in diameter and made out of walnut. I used a #3 UR blade for it. Thanks again Don.

    Cross for my wife

I saw this cross posted on Etsy and saved a photo of it to my pictures about 3 or 4 months ago. I finally found the time to make it and I could not find the piece again to see about buying the pattern so I just made a pattern from it. The one I saw was made with different colors of wood inset that was so beautiful but as I got into it I began to realize it was going to be more than I was willing to try so just cut out the skeleton pattern I had made and call it good. I thought it was so pretty the was it was in the photo I downloaded but since I turned away from what I really intended to do, I found I still liked it the way it turned out. I just hope when my wife returns home the middle of July, she too will like it. Dick heppnerguy

  4. Just a quick segmentation project I am working on this weekend. I just did the first coat of paint. Need to sand, glue it up and add the gloss finish. Thought it looked pretty good in the loose dry fit stage. But this speaks outdoors to me. looking at a single flow brings me such joy seeing the handiwork in creation.

  6. Summer has always been about being outdoors, enjoying the sights, random encounters with interesting critters, and various activities such as hiking, geocaching, kayaking, archery, etc. Don't have any kayak-related scroll projects yet.

I'm been retired for the last 5 years, after working as a master carpenter for 48 years. I've had a Dewalt scroll saw for over 30 years, used it now and then. Was using it last month for a project and my wife tells me I really need a new saw. Mine is the old style of attaching blades. So long story short she bought me one Wow, what a difference in every aspect. I have some questions, but they will come latter. I am not a scroll saw professional, I consider myself an amateur in this field, LOL. But, it's fun. Catch you in the forum Robert

  8. this is a Steve Good pattern that I added to our great grandson's birthday presents. I have an extreme difficulty getting the photos I take of project from my camera to my computer so I do not post many of the ones i cut. This one did make it there, but still not sure how. This little toy will help my great grandson to have one more item to play with on his birthday coming up in a short time. This was an easy and quick one to make. The photo did not come out well as the sun was reflecting through the window onto it and made the whitish color look like it was not finished very well but it really ended up looking just fine in real life. The wheels,( that I did not have time to buy for this ), were just simple circles so I made the groove in them to give it a wheel / tire look and painted the tires black. That really did help a lot to give it some kind of realism that it otherwise lacked in that part. Dick heppnerguy

  10. Finally got my #3 blades in the mail and started on this. 3/4" Pine with the Horse letters of the pattern still on. Another Steve Good piece. This will add to our granddaughter's collection, who has a bazillion toy horses already. This was fun to do and I'm sure I'll be making more puzzles.

    Round Picture Frames

There are several sizes available online. I use 1-7/16" in my Christmas ornaments that fit a 1-3/8" hole. Wooden Teddy Bear is the best price that I found.

    Bookshelf piece

Commissioned for the birthday of a friend who has taught at the same university for 40+ years. It is the formal logo of the university and is only the fourth I have cut. This one is approximately 7.5 x 9 inches of 3/4" cherry from Ocooch. Base is two pieces of 3/4" buckeye from another project. Cut this with Pegas #3MGT blades and finished with satin lacquer. As a bonus, I glued the final blade to the bottom of the base.

  23. Guess what???? You are as wrong as I was when I made it. The wife said she did not care for my color choices.. I guess that means it becomes another piece on my shop wall. Dick heppnerguy

  25. Made myself a stand for my scrollsaw so I can cut outside. It is on castors (2 that can lock) so easy to move around and also I made a 10 degrees incline so it is nice and comfy to use, added a drawer for my blades and what not, so it is real nice to just open the garage door and enjoy the nice weather

  29. I did this one a while back. When leaving Jasper AB going west there is this very big “lake” not sure if you can call it that it was only about one foot deep ( haven’t been to Jasper for quite a while so not sure if it’s dried up). Anyway we saw a bear walking across the water and it looked like it was walking on water ( the kids called it the Jesus Bear). Even though this picture is a Grizzly walking on ice, it always reminds me of my favorite place on Earth, Jasper.

  30. These would be some of my favourite outdoor projects. I don't have a picture of just the "Welcome to the Lake" sign, but I had one hanging on the boat until this spring when hubby dropped it. Now I need to cut another one. The puzzle is one of the spots we like to get to and anchor at for a couple of days. This is on Lake of the Woods, ON.

Glad you are here. Hegners need no work! Says one very happy Hegner owner. If any of your students show a particular interest in Scroll saw work of any kind, please steer them here. We could benefit from some young blood infused into this bunch of scrollers.
