    American flag

    I made this for my son’s birthday to hang in his office. There was some scroll saw work ( the stars were cut out on a 1/4 inch bb ) other than that table saw, added the frame after it was completed it just needed something to set it off, thx for looking, RJ

    Inlay off-cut

    I did an inlay of a batman logo and this is the off-cut side. Not bad. I'll post the good side soon, the glue is drying on it still.

  3. Usually, I wear a level 5 cutting glove when sanding with my flex drum or belt when I am doing smaller parts. This time I slipped on the belt sanding a medium size part, I was trying to thin it out to 1/4 inch, part slipped, my fingers touched the belt nails only. Not the way to trim nails! No pain, no blood, but does feel a little strange.

    A Few Gifts

    My friends own a restaurant named Railroad Street Steak House. I cut this Steve Good pattern of a train as a gift for them. They said they would hang it in a special place and I asked if it would be the bathroom. It was cut on Birch with a Pine backer. The Birch was stained with natural. The frame is pre-finished framing material cut to size. The two dog leash holders are from a Steve Good pattern cut in Pine. One is stained with Espresso and the other Ipswich. All three pieces were finished with 4-coats of Polyacrylic with light sanding between coats.

  7. Check out this article https://www.woodworkersjournal.com/simulating-segmentation-with-the-scroll-saw/ Carole also has a section in Scroll Saw Wooden Bowls book on doing Open Segmented Bowls Page 197. Oval but same process. Pretty cool. If you want to contact Carole I was able to contact her with as PM on Scroll Saw Workshop.

  8. I have one finger that's flat on the end because of a disc sander.

    Male Lion

    My latest cut is a Russ Beard pattern, this has been soaked in Danish Oil, it has to be detailed. This is going to be the Centre piece, there will be animals in front of him and behind him. This is going to be a big 3D project once completed which I estimate is about two to three months away. I’m in no rush and take my time. Cut using 4mm Baltic Birch Ply, the complete pattern was cut with #1 Flying Dutchman Blades

    The cutting loooks great. However, I'm confused (easy to do these days). Is the inlay the same thickness as the rectangular board? I don't understand why the need to use so many clamps. If they are the same thckness, a good method of clamping to maintain a level surface would be to place the assembly between two pieces of nice flat 3/4" thk boards (ply or otherwise) and clamp with maybe only 4 to 6 clamps depending on the overall size to get nice uniform pressure. I use a piece of waxed paper between the finish surface of the panel and the clamping boards to make sure no glue gets gets between the clamping boards and the panel. I made a gule-up press just for this kind of clamping that will accomodate a panel up to 14 x 24. Here is a couple of pics JFYI.

    You have a great start and you believed in the wood workers saying of "You can never have to many clamps"! Like what you have done so far! Erv

    Another Cross.... :+}

    I like the black one best. Both are beautiful but if I had to pick one.....

    Another Cross.... :+}

    I do think the red stands out more but I feel the black one is more classic and simple, since the cut is really lacy, the black makes it more sophisticated...Kind of like the little black dress.

  22. I did this one a while back. When leaving Jasper AB going west there is this very big “lake” not sure if you can call it that it was only about one foot deep ( haven’t been to Jasper for quite a while so not sure if it’s dried up). Anyway we saw a bear walking across the water and it looked like it was walking on water ( the kids called it the Jesus Bear). Even though this picture is a Grizzly walking on ice, it always reminds me of my favorite place on Earth, Jasper.
