  1. Found this image on-line and just could not resist converting it into a Scroll Saw Pattern. The cut panel is 5/32” x 11” x 17” solid core Birch Ply mounted to a 1/4” x 11” x 17” BB Ply Backer. Both the Backer and cut panel are Hand Painted mainly using an Air Brush and Artist Acrylic Air Brush Paints. A little regular Artist Acrylic Paints and brush work was used for some details and the gold belt buckle. The painting work was quite difficult and time consuming due to the many colors and the necessary drying time between colors so adjacent areas could be masked with tape. I’m feeling good about how well II was able to use the Air Brush. You will notice I was even able to get some light blue shading in the eyes and light gray shading in the white fur of the coat and hat. Pretty close match to the original color image I was attempting to duplicate. Cutting was done with Pegas #2/0 Spiral blades. The assembled panel was protected with multiple coats of Clear Gloss Acrylic Finish. The frame is my typical 1 3/4" wide Premium Pine, primed and painted bright Red (It is a Christmas Piece, you know!). If this fun piece does not sell quickly, it will hang in in my home for the holidays. Comments and Critiques always welcome. I put the Pattern in Pattern Exchange

    Fishing pole

made this for my oldest grandson. It’s a Popiel pocket fisherman we bought for him when he was younger as a gag Xmas gift. He caught a lot of fish with it. It finally gave up when he caught a bigger bass with it.

  3. I have posted this before but we have a number of new scrollers to the site that may not have seen this before. I have used the key chain maker over 200 times and each time I give away some key chains everyone really seems to like them. He is my latest that I have done. My oldest Grandson baseball team is representing Ontario in the 13U National Championship and wanted to give the boys something for their back packs. The Video is at https://youtu.be/HEL5kpdgwNI and the download is in his blog https://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ but you have to scroll down to near the bottom.

  4. Having fun cutting these birdhouses. Been using scrap material of what ever I have and cutoffs from the hardwood dealer. Have cut 50+ with at least the same waiting to be cut. I like the different colors in some Cedar pieces and the grain in the Cypress is nice. Even tried something different with the sock shaped one. Painting the birds different colors and cutting some from Purple Heart and other woods.

  9. Thank you! Wish I had planned on saving the letters and doing them the same way so the red would show up better. Hindsight.

It's not true inlay, the cuts are not angled. I just cut it with a tiny 2/0 blade.

  11. Finally got some shop time this week. I was able to get this cute little guy done. Cut from Aspen with a #1 mg blade. The colour is done with Unicorn Spit. Backer is BB ply, about 6" diameter. Finished with Walrus Oil. Pattern was from https://www.sg-patterns.com/slides/Glass pattern 002 Dragonfly Delight.html via a posting on one of the FB pages I subscribe to. I was also able to get a number of other cut, but not finished, projects finished!

  14. So I also want to nominate pattern makers. @alexfox My cutting / paint does not do his pattern justice

  15. A handful of "love" related pieces I've done over the years (in no particular order). The wolf bookmarks stem from a love of reading, I've handed out quite a few of those to others. And what goes better with reading than a nice cuppa coffee!! Caffeinated, for me. As a military history buff and Navy vet, I still love this country (which has nothing to do with political parties). My wife loves gnomes....I've done a couple of them for her, but found the "rock on!" gnomie and that one just screamed for a colorful background. Googled "tye-dye wallpaper", printed it, and it makes for a killer background. Sign language spells L-O-V-E. Not sure where the sculpture pattern came from, that was a couple of years ago.

  16. The 60's were about acceptance, this is the closest I've done. Not my best work, I was asked to make something for a fundraiser a day before it was happening. I think it was a take on a Sue Mey pattern.

  17. Table plaque made from 1/2” Cherry. Cut with Flying Dutchman UR #3 blades. Finished with my 50/50 blend of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits, then top coated with spray semi gloss Laquer. I don’t remember where the pattern came from.

  20. This is a tough challenge for sure. So it might take a bit of thinking and loose association....LOL. Here's mine. I made this for my son when he was little. He liked playing with matchbox cars, so I made this wavy rainbow so that he can run his cars through the tunnels. it's kinda hippy-like. He actually played with it a fair amount, which surprised me. Sometimes the simplest toys are the best toys.

  21. Hi to all, I have posted this on the other 2 popular forums, sorry if you read it again. I found this really nice Steve Good Christmas item that we are considering making for our church's gift shop. I am wondering if anyone has any information on how to power pieces of remaining LED light strips? There are many different LED strips available on the internet, and they are all longer than what would be needed to make this beautiful box. If I could find a method that even I could do, to reuse the leftover pieces, that will help bring the price down, our intention is to donate these to the Friary to help rsiae some funds for them. The LED strips that I have are 5 volt and I know that I could use a USB connection to accomplish what I need to do, I am having trouble locating USB cables with the connctor on one end only, if I can find the cable I need, then I am capable of soldering the positive and negative wires to the strip. That should work. Allow me to give a BIG shout out to Steve, I contactd him and inquired as to how he would supply power to the LED strips, he was able to get right back to me and explain that he has never tried to do that, and he sent along some info on a youtube video and a contact page on Amazon. Thank you all for reading this topic, I hope I made sense to everyone. Rick
