    Puzzle Box

Commissioned project. Enjoyed making although it took some time being everything had to be cut to size with opening parts having a snug fitting. A.bit of thought has to be given to how to open the two hidden drawers. Some people are able to figure it out quickly while others have no idea. Box is made of walnut and ash. Size is 9 ½” L x 4” W x 3 ¼” H.

  2. 3/4 ply cut with free blades from our member Kmcrafts. I think it is a #3 I needed to go forward much slower but time holding my arms up is scarce. Still needs a nice routed edge and try an true up the mistakes. Thanks for looking! The flowers get enlarged when I can stand and take all the clutter off the printer to clear a jam . The letter (R) popped out as it had a weak point in the word Jardin.

  4. Since I retired last year I decided to turn my one car garage into a little wood working hobby shop. Been trying many different things to find an area that would be the most and "safest" to learn. The addition of the scroll saw last week is something that I really want to dive into. I'm sure I can gather much useful information here.

    Book holder

A suggestion at the market a couple of weeks ago and I thought this might be a good way to use up some thicker scraps. Thumb book holders. You put your thumb in the hole and then pinch the book between you fingers and thumb keeps the book open and is pretty. Here's the purty one. 3/4 box elder burl, #3 FD Polar blades, one coat BLO, I'm planing one multiple coats of shellac, until it's good and shiny. I printed out one page of patterns to see how well they will sell at the FM here's the batch so far:

Awesome job! Loved the movie. Great timing too with the Little League World Series going on. I used to be a huge baseball fan back when I lived in Illinois. Go Cubbies! When I moved to Florida in '89 the Cubs weren't on tv down here, so I lost interest in baseball. But I have always watch the LLWS games,, almost every game each year. One of these days I hope to make it to Williamsport and see some games in person. If not Williamsport, than maybe Warner Robbins, GA to see some of the reginal games,, it's a lot closer too. A team about 10 miles from me, Lake Mary Florida made it to the reginal this year. I usually pull for a Tennessee team as they usually make it to the finals.

    Squints

"Michael 'Squints' Palledorous walked a little taller that day. He had kissed a woman, and he had kissed her long and good.” Squints, from The Sandlot. Awesome coming of age movie about a group of young baseball players in the summer of 1962. Originally the glasses were just going to be cut out, leaving the eyes as floaters. I decided to save the glasses, add lenses and put them back in. The water drops are clear JB Weld. Pattern in library.

It’s amazing how many characters you’ve done. Do you sell your work or do you have them displayed in your home? Beautiful work Charlie.

    Book holder

They be popular, I made some a few years ago at the request of a niece. One for her, one for me. I of coarse could not keep track of mine. I have though that in order for the reasder to keep better track of one you could make some thin book marks and attach this to the page holder with a chain. I have not tried it, just a suggestion.

Thank you! Fine line between art and a mess. I got a little black from the backer on the red and when I rubbed it off it looked cool. So I just put more on using a nearly dry brush. Happy little accident.

Wow, you do amazing work. I loved how you did the minwax barn red and the true black. How did you get the "distressed" look on the 'called shot' picture?

    Online Auction

My last online auction had some scrollsaw blades so I bid on them and won. Just priced out the blades and not counting the partial packs of coping saw blades I got about 75.00 worth of blades for 21.00. Not a bad deal! Most of the blades are Olson but I got two packs of Pegas.

  32. I cut two of these years ago on my first scroll saw. If I remember correctly, they are the only flowers I have ever cut. It is solid wood, not plywood.
