    Super Smart & Bowls

Here is my latest projects. The oval bowl is Poplar and stained Blach Cherry and distressed, The round bowl is Alder and walnut. The un framed Albert Einstein is portrait #59 and cut out of 3/4 oak. I am waiting on my planer to arrive then it will be framed in Teak and stained black.

  2. Love this beautiful piece of live edge Cherry. Pattern is in the Library. For some reason it's blurry until you click on it.

  4. These two are the closest I could find to being spooky. Watercolor pencils and white acrylic paint for the pilot. Acrylic paint for teeth and green magic marker for the Hulk.

  5. You could also put "1991" to the left of the name and "2024” to the right on the same line giving you more room to work with and a bit of a balanced look.

  7. I started with the two here, then saw other faces to try. I spray painted after I cut the face so it looked more like the insides of a pumpkin. also i cut bamboo skewer sticks as small dowels to be able to open back. then i used branches from a small dead tree, at the Y so can hang if want to with the top glued and brad nailed 20230925_165604.mp4

  8. I was commissioned to make this plaque for a client who works for American Airlines. He plans to give it to a long time colleague who is retiring after the first of the year. I combined fretwork and intarsia. The lettering was so delicate that I decided to fill it with black wood filler. I used blue pine for the background and frame.

  9. Having fun cutting these birdhouses. Been using scrap material of what ever I have and cutoffs from the hardwood dealer. Have cut 50+ with at least the same waiting to be cut. I like the different colors in some Cedar pieces and the grain in the Cypress is nice. Even tried something different with the sock shaped one. Painting the birds different colors and cutting some from Purple Heart and other woods.

  10. Here is my attempt at this great pattern. Not sure what the wood is, except thin! This is only my third attempt at spirals. Used a #1. Some lines became suggestions . Finished with beeswax/mineral oil.

  12. If available, you might want to try Minwax Antique Oil Finish. Easy to apply, using a brush or dipping. I like the warm luster that it gives. Odor is not strong by any means.

    Ribbon Rack

Was asked to come up with a gift for fund raiser prize for grandson's baseball team. (I have given enough chactuterie boards). Have done these before for all sorts of sports and probably this team too but it has been a few years. Hopefully will raise a few bucks.

  21. Thanks for your thoughts. Thinking I might make a thin piece to match the plane over the name and inlaying the new name in cedar to match the lettering of "American Airlines." I might play with your idea of putting the date in the same line as the name.

    New Band Saw

I have had that same bandsaw for a number of years and love it. It does great on smaller pieces. I do have a large bandsaw for resawing but this small one is great. I looked at the current price and double what I paid. Good luck with yours and enjoy it.

  27. Hey Everyone! In this fun scroll saw project video, we make some neat light up Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns! This design comes from the new archive disks that Fox Chapel Publishing has sent me and is cut from 3/4 inch pine! It uses some basic electronic tea lights to give the project an eerie glow. Hope you all like the video! #ArtisanPirate

  28. Couple more.....lol I have this thing where I like a twofer.. That is when I cut out the silhouette and also keep the cut out area. I will add a backer and make a second ornament out of it. Samples below. The brown witch is Cedar so I up undecided if I should stain it, paint it or just leave as is.

  33. Halloween? We never do anything for Halloween anymore. We live out in the country, and since all the kids on our little private road have grown up and left, we have no trick or treaters at all. Pretty sad, but such is life. I looked, I have only made on thing in my life related to Halloween. I made a pen for a Halloween pen contest. I did use the scroll saw to cut out the bats. The blank. is made from black pvc pipe, there were two halves to make up the blank, so the bats are in different locations on each side.

    New Band Saw

Ron, I have a question for you. You say the new one is no comparsion to the old Craftsman, did you mean the Rikon is better or worse than the Craftsman? Jerry
