I have been on a crunch with my biggest show coming up next week. This is a set of patterns by Sheila Landry. The Sleigh is made from 1/4” Maple and 3/8” Sapele for the runners. The reindeer are made from 1/2” and 1/4” Cherry. For size reference, the board they are on is 4’ long. I’m pricing the set at $250!13 points

I would have put the bird houses also, but I have never sold one, my wife and daughter swipe them as quickly as they are made... Last time my daughter even stole the little tree I hung them on..3 points

Observations on blades
JTTHECLOCKMAN and one other reacted to BadBob for a topic
All I can say for sure was that the Flying Dutchman blades were #5 skip tooth with reverse teeth. The only reason I know they are Flying Dutchman blades is because FD blades are the only ones I have in test tubes.2 points -
Observations on blades
Norm Fengstad and one other reacted to BadBob for a topic
I have never had a blade stretch. Recently, I did a test comparing Flying Dutchman blades to Pegas blades. Flying Dutchman blades cut a lot smoother and were less aggressive. In harder woods, the Flying Dutchman blades produced a glossy, smooth cut.2 points -
My best seller would be birdhouse ornaments. I also sell ugly sweater ornaments, gingerbread man ornaments, little car ornaments, and icicle ornaments I sell all five styles for $10.00 each. The birdhouse ornaments outsell the others by a margin of 5-1, give or take. Two other big sellers are yard games, Kubbe and Molke2 points

I have no "best sellers" sales are all over the place; one week I'll sell a bunch of tea light stands and then not sell any the rest of the season, ext week sell several wolf profile plaques and then just dead. No rhyme or reason to it.2 points

These are ornaments I made for the Festival of the Trees in Indianapolis. Our woodworking group will decorate a tree with scrolled, carved, and turned ornaments made by us. This event features over 70 trees, and is located at the Indiana Historical Society. This is a fund raiser for the Salvation Army. After the event, the ornaments will be sold.2 points

Saw this on pictures of @Rolf's dust collection set up. I decided to try it. In the past I have twisted the loc-line up and out of the way to move it out of the way to move the blade to another hole. That means when I want the sucker back in place I have to twist it down and fiddle with it to get it right where I want it. That wears out the loc-line and it is not cheap not fun to replace joints of it. With this union I just swing the sucker to the side out of the way and when I swing it back it is right where I want it. No fiddling. Now I am pondering on a way to do something similar for the blower side.... This took me less than 4 minutes 32 seconds to put in. Thanks Rolf!1 point

Observations on blades
crupiea reacted to Oldmansbike for a topic
I use mostly #2 blades on quarter inch wood. I have Eberle blades and Pegas blades. I don’t remember where I bought the Eberle blades cause I’ve had them for quite awhile. The Eberle blades start out sharp but they don’t last very long and they seem to stretch more than the Pegas. The Pegas blades seem to last forever. I know it could be the wood which is red oak I’m cutting now but I have used both on cherry too and had the same results. Just thought I would share my experience.1 point -
Sikorsky S-76B
Alexander Fadeev reacted to munzieb for a topic
Sikorsky S-76B Sikorsky had a long history of military and utility helicopters and the dual engine S-76 was their initial entry into the executive helicopter market based on their success with the Black Hawk helicopter UH-60. Their objective was to enter the inner City, point-to-point, EMS and utility transport, especially for off shore oil rig personnel. The first “A” models went into operation in 1977 and had a capacity of up to 13 passengers but most executive models are configured for 5-6 seats with a crew of 2. The aircraft has gone through many model upgrades (A, B, C, C++, D) also with various engines to improve noise reduction, performance and extended distance. The B model operated dual Pratt & Whitney PT-6 engines similar to the ones use on several corporate and commuter turboprop aircraft. In a previous life I had a lot exposure to this aircraft. My company did a lot of avionics upgrade to these aircraft to include radars, radios, navigations/gps systems, inflight phones and entertainment systems. United Technology had a service center close to where I lived and I would spec out work packages and went on many test flights. I had fond memories of S-76B N500WK. It was managed by Wayfarer Ketch Corp and owned by David Rockefeller and our company had quoted a major avionics upgrade package that needed to be inspected at our facility in NH before the work could be started. It was about an hour flight up and back to MHT from POU. It was a great flying over western Connecticut, Mass and southern NH. Weather was perfect. A few weeks later we started the project. Great memory. Th plaque is 15 x 10 1/8” BBPW with ¼” backer, Finish shellac with Gloss lacquer.1 point -

Okay, Now Maybe A "Little" Bragging now....

I have a few hundred dollars worth of I guess you could call it exotic wood coming soon from Ocooch Hardwoods... Not about to waste any expensive wood so I figured it was time for more practice. My mother in law gave me some 1 inch thick cedar planks that were in her garage probably 20 years and although straight, they were super dry and hard. Since I never tried stack cutting or even wrapping a project with packing tape it was time to give it a shot. I still had that maple leaf pattern I traced from the leaf found on the ground so this would be my first time making a box with that leaf design using 1/4" ply on the top and bottom with that brick hard cedar sandwiched inside. The biggest blade was a #7 it got it done but it was slow going through 1-1/2"... So I surprised myself trying something new that turned out okay I guess. Put some wipe on poly and calling it done!1 point -

All the very nice comments that I received to my post in Bragging Rights re: ‘Whale of a Christmas Gift’ were based on the final work I showed in my post. However, that is not quite the whole story. My first conversion of the Whale Tail Image I found was not done correctly. Simply adding bridges to a line type image, I created in Inkscape using the Trace Bitmap command, may produce a scrollable pattern but doesn’t always result in a visually correct pattern. My foreground and background were kind of reversed and after a long tedious cut and an attempt at adding color, the panel was a disaster. The White of the Whale flukes were in the background and the Black was on top. The White was almost invisible and visually, the cutting just did not work. In addition to the cutting being visually wrong, I attempted to add color to the ocean on the foreground cut panel. Well, I’ve always admitted that, although I add color to my work, I’m not an artist when it comes to creating an image by painting. I just could not make the ocean water look like ocean water. So, I finally cried Unkle and decided to start over. I revisited the pattern and reworked the image, keeping the same general line work I started with, but changed the pattern to make the Whale area background all Black and the White of the Flukes and Body, on the foreground cut panel. This resulted in a scroll saw pattern that produced a “typical scrolled dark and light’ image that was visually appealing, and that I was able to add my colorization efforts to. Well, I wasted a Maple plywood panel I use, maybe 15 to 20 hours of cutting time, quite a bit of Air Brush Paint and a lot of paint application and dry time, but I’m very glad I came to my senses and redid the panel. And, although I feel my scrolling abilities are fairly decent, I’m still learning to use Inkscape and the ‘Art’ of creating well designed, visually correct, scroll saw patterns. So, this project was not a complete waste as it resulted in some valuable ‘Lesson’s Learned’. Sorry no pics of panel....fire pit tinder.1 point

Keep sharing these ideas and mods folks. I’m going to show hubby so he can get me figured out with my saw and portable Festool I did end up getting once we moved. Unfortunately, we’ve had a significant life event get in the way of getting it all setup yet. We’ll get there though.1 point

I love how people have been getting ideas from Rolf's post. This is my execution when I saw his setup. When I raise the arm up, the locline moves up and will be in the exact same place when I lower it. The actual pivot point is my flex pipe. I also added a blast gate which "throttles" my lower vac, some pieces cover all the holes and the suction is too much underneath. This brings suction more to the top vac. I just ordered more locline for my drill press. My flax pipe is not doing the job alone.1 point -
Thank you very much for your great comment, Dick. I started this carved fretwork in retirement after my children gave me a scroll saw and my wife gave me carving tools. I had never done scrolling or carving prior to starting this new hobby. I tell you this because you just need to keep at it and don't get discouraged.1 point

Made ornaments for friends and relatives again this year. this is a Steve Good pattern that didn’t show up on his site but a web search gets it. 20 ornaments. A keen eye will see two are reversed from the rest, as well as a few missed detail cuts on a few. Nothing anyone can notice unless they are side by side; I’ve just got to work on double checking parts before the Final Cut.1 point -

We did a gift exchange at work for about 20 of us. This was a virtual meeting on computers. The concept was to order from Amazon and keep it under $35. But I am a non-conformist. I said I would make something. The company logo is a Big R, and our brand is a light bulb "iwatt" is the brand. Notice the "iw" as the filiament in the bulb. We design integrated circuits (chips). I obtained some silicon wafers and cut a small circle that fits inside the light bulb. Inliad "yellow heart" into "purple heart". I still need to put a finish on it.1 point

I made 18 of the small Nativities and about the same number of larger ones. On the larger, about half were natural and the others were painted flat white. The small ones have a hook for hanging and given to relatives as my annual handmade ornament. Some of the larger ones were used as table decor at a church luncheon and then became door prizes along with some angels. All patterns by Steve Good. 1/8" and 1/4" plywood.1 point -
