  1. Daughter loves playing aggravation so decided to make her own board for Christmas. Wood used was Pine, Canary trimmed with banding.

  2. Here is my new set of geometric patterns with spherical effect, each consists of 3 layers, size 7x7 inches, I recommend to use different types of wood or stains, it adds a good deapth effect with spherical geometry. The first layer is quite fragile, so it could be a challange. Patterns - https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexFoxUA

  3. Finally did the sanding and shaping of the driver. I will still do some hand-sanding as I am anal about it. Kudos to Steve Good for the pattern. Can't Waste Wood...

I had a few scraps of Wenge that were cupped so I glued and clamped them together to form a thicker and flat board to use for a project. My next door neighbors of 23 years always talked of moving to Florida and they finally did recently so I wanted to make something for them. Scrolled some lettering and made a Florida theme easel back plaque. Took awhile to find images I liked of the flip flops and palm tree and size them to what worked and even more fun to scroll the little things and get them painted. I'm hoping they like it when I give it to them the next time they are here.

  7. This little guy started life as a Sue Mey pattern, number NW4195 JOY GNOME I cut a tree about 1/8 inch larger than the original pattern to place behind the Gnome tree, and then I glued on a piece of silver glitter paper. I then decided to make our little friend 2 dimentional buy putting a second layer of wood on the hat, gloves, and shoes. I finished it off with a string of "Rice Lites" that I bought on AMAZON, I used hot glue to keep them in place, turned on the switch and viloa. So, Ann Marie decided that he should be on smething seasonal and off to her quilting room she went, you can see the results, it looked great. Well Ann Marie showed it to one her friends, and it sold on the spot. I'm trying to finish another one quickly, because we are hosting all the little ones for a Christmas Party on Sunday afternoon and we know they will get a big kick out of them. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my VILLAGE family. Hopefully, you will get the chance to share some times with the ones you love. Rick

  11. I can't believe that I screwed up so badly this year! I worked my tail off making Christmas gifts for every member of our family, plus I cut out 50 little 3D Reindeer to give away to strangers. Well, All of the Reindeer have been given away, every gift (36 in Total) have been boxed and wrapped, plus I made 2 sets of Gnomes complete with a miniature reindeer mounted on bases. My screw up is that I Completely Forgot to Take Photos of the gifts and Reindeer before they were packaged up! Duh! What a Bonehead Stunt! Dick

  12. Managed to get something completed for once: Fairly happy with the outcome, considering this is basically my second project, first involving any kind of more intricate fretwork. It’s not as clean as I’d like it to be but it looks okay from a distance. Not sure whether it needs a finish or not? It’ll probably be hanging on a wall so barely any touching or such. Maybe a clear coat of spray varnish? I do also have boiled linseed oil available…

  14. I feel everything should have a finish. Spray, poly or Danish oil would be fine as long as it is not attached to the mirror yet.

  15. Thanks Marie. I didn’t inlay the banding as I usually do.

  16. I saw it. Way too basic. The Rothman book has everything I need in it as it turns out. Seems those bows are a common design and used by others too. That is where I needed the pattern. Boxes, heck I make those in my sleep. I am hoping to carve out some time to make a variety of different boxes both scrollsawn and maybe turning a few also after I get some more pens done. Right now I am in a pen making groove with so many new ideas in my head. just the nature of the way I work. Thanks.

I have decided to give this my my Daughter in law for Christmas instead of selling it. I am giving 5 or 6 different portraits away for Christmas this year. It's been a tough year for sales so I will use them as presents.

Thank you. The cutting is cherry and the base is rough cut oak stained English Chestnut with a little black spray paint. I had a hard time coming up with a base color that didn’t clash.

  25. I made 90 of these a few years back for my daughters wedding. Gave them out as "favors" at the wedding. I used Red Oak and sprayed with Clear finish. (Sorry the pics are not all that good.)

  29. When I was at my daughter's place, I noticed that their stockings were just being hung on a picture hook. Mom to the rescue!!! This is a Kathy Wise design that showed up in my FB feed recently. I cut this as segmentation from one piece of reclaimed elm, from our city's canopy. It is a little more than 1" thick. Used a(many) #7 Precision skip blade(s). Colour provided by watered down Unicorn Spit. There is one major cutting error that I turned into a design choice. This is just waiting for the Osmo satin finish to dry.

Carbon paper and pencil, while being an old school method for making a pattern, it is still one of the best. You still had to have the vision to decide what to sketch which requires a talent on it's own. Good on ya! I absolutely love your rendition.
