  1. I really enjoy Russ Beard's pattern but have never cut one. I saw this one recently and had to give it a go. I am happy with the results and have plans to cut another of his projects soon. It is on 1/4 BB Ply. I made a quick frame as my shop time has been very short lately and wanted to get things finished that I had started. So this is the results. The photo, as usual did not turn out very well as this is not one of my better things I do. Often a lot of my photo are of the floor instead of the subject I am trying to take. Dick heppnerguy

  2. I spent a few days getting my Pegas the way I wanted. Still shocked it only took 2 days to deliver from my order. I used a US General service cart as the base. (The red matches!) I added a power strip with USB plugs and a 25 foot cord. This way I can move it around in the shop for some flexibility. Here you can see it in position when I am recording live streams or other YT videos. Most of my tools are in a semi-circle, so I only need to spin around on my stool. My only negative right now is I have the magnifying glass/light connected to the cart (used to be on the wall), so I lose some cutting space. I really do not want to go back to my old long arm (you can see it on my workbench) from the back as it bounces too much, but I will figure placement in the next week. Other Shop Stuff: I put my old 10" WEN drill press back in operation and keep a pilot drill bit in it. My larger drill press further back is for larger holes, barrel and mop sanding. It sits to the left of my carving workbench. In this photo I have a whole bunch of toys needing to be profiled. You can see the blue legs of my frankenrouter and barrel sander behind that near the silver overhead door. I plumbed in the Pegas, to have not only the regular bottom vac, but also a top vac using loc-line. It then gets combined at the back of the saw. I can either hook up to the 10 foot 2.5" vacuum line at any port along the wall, or to my 4" dust handling line that I can roll out. Below is a closeup when I was plumbing everything in. I did have my old magnetic sheet on for a while, as the glare from my shop lights reflected off the black surface of the cutting table. I still have to get used to this saw. I started with a #10, as I was drifting to the left with the thinner blades, and worked my way down in numbers (at #5 right now), figuring out what setup worked. Every blade has a personality, as does the saw. In the photo below you can see my old Excal before moving out of that spot and rearranging things.

Thanks. I definitely benefited from the fact that only small areas show through the cuts. It's a mess behind the wood.

    1st Time Attempting A Frame

I won't admit how long it took or how much wood was wasted... I won't show what the back looks like either. But it is what it is and ready for some paint. I have a lot to learn about routing the groove for the glass and project and not sure if I have the patience (or ability) to try any miter joints. All of the Youtube videos were either without instruction, just showing off their skills or explaining the details like an engineer.

  8. The 30" weighs 120 lbs. Not sure how much more than a 24". I did not install the handles on the cart. I also used shorter bolts where the handles would have been. But yes, the mobility is a plus for sure.

Really nice....I didn't know you painted like that. Nice selection of colors and blending almost looked like you airbrushed it. Very pretty, I can see why you wife and daughter want one as well...

  10. Just be careful of placement, or have a cover. You'll get sawdust and small pieces in it if you place it under the table!

Sorry , it’s not my pattern. It was a stencil on Etsy and the lady gave me permission to use it.

Thanks, Dave. I just used some acrylic craft paint. I used the pattern after I removed it as a stencil to help with where to paint on the backer. The wood is 1/2" so the colors don't all show up as much as on thin plywood, but I actually like the way it works, as you move from one side to the other different parts stand out.

  22. Good looking frame. I am also intimidated with making frames. I don't have a table saw, jointer, etc etc. I have a scroll saw! You-Tube sucks at instructions for making frames. That being said, I have found one that I have been using. I just recently purchased a mini table saw to get the 45 degree angles.

  23. Jimmy, your frame looks good to me. I recently did a project that requires a frame. Going to frame shop was expensive. Found a ready made frame the fit my project perfectly, but really flimsy. Like you, if found instructions very frustrating, didn't teach me a thing. Also youtube instructions for most things are primarily just showing off their abilities and equipment they have. My shop is very simple and tools I have are very limited, just basic tools for scrolling. I will keep trying. Jerry

  24. certainly nothing wrong with that.. I am still intimated by frames. What are the best clamps to glue them with. I keep looking.
