This is Jim Blume's "Heading West" pattern that was designed to be 11X14. I decided to make it a little more challenging by cutting it into an 8X10. Baltic Birch stained Ipswich with a black backer and a Pine frame. Both cutting and frame were sprayed with several coats of Polyacrylic with light sanding between coats. This was a lot of fun to cut and surprisingly the reduced size didn't make it very difficult. Thanks, Jim, for another great pattern.7 points

If it were for free you would try to get the to pay you for taking it off their hands.2 points

I also have a Delta 40-694. Check to see if your table is square with the saw blade, a perfect 90 degrees. Don't feed too fast on that thick of wood. Hope that helps.2 points

My first attempt making a toy
goldfish reacted to jerry walters for a topic
After seeing Ron Johnson's posting of toys I had to try my luck. Seeing his posing of the F-16 fighter jet I decided to make one for a nephew who is a pilot in this aircraft. Probably not the easiest pattern to choose for my first attempt, but I think it turned out OK. I am pleased with it, hopefully my nephew is and you are too. Jerry1 point -
David! You know me too well. I'd even ask for delivery.1 point

Suffered eye injury have been in the process of healing.

Suffered an eye injury ~3 weeks ago. Debris blew up under my glasses when mulching on my 42" deck tractor mower deck. I have been pretty much blind in my left eye, due to corneal injury over the pupil area. It was like looking through a glass with thick petroleum jelly on it and darkened. The whole eye was bloody red. Quite a bit of pain came alongside that for well over a week. I was prescribed an ointment for my eye 3x/day and steroid drops 2x/day. I had my 3rd follow-up with my eye Doc today (went to urgent care when I was injured). My eye has finally superficially healed on the surface (that's good), and also improved 4 steps on the eye test this last week. Pressure also moved in the right direction. She was pleased that I turned the corner as she was concerned last week at the slow healing. Now comes the continued under-the-surface healing so we wait. Scheduled an appointment to be back in a month. No more steroids in the eye, however, the ointment is only 1x/day now... When I got home this morning after the appointment, I tried some scroll sawing I actually could see my lines! FINALLY!!! cut the remaining pieces and rattle can finished my 4-layer Memorial Day pieces, which I could not work on while I was blind. Gun, dog tags, boots, & helmet. When I tried working on it when I was first injured it was a major struggle and had to quit for a few weeks, did an hour on Sunday during my YT live stream, but that was a struggle... now it feels like I am almost back to normal. Not fun being blind in my eye, thankful, it was temporary. Ran out of black paint on one piece so I did not speckle it the way I wanted. Getting more tomorrow.1 point -

I used maple, yellow heart and blood wood, the only dark wood that you have to be careful of bleeding is Padauk1 point -
Very nice. I had to go look at it again to find the child peeking out of the wagon.1 point

Yep, the family is taking on a great adventure. Extra challenging to head west. Oh your saying the cutting is extra challenging. Yes but it looks great. I had to look closely, i think the child is a girl peeking out of the covered wagon.1 point

I still try to haggle even if it's a good buy. The Free Hegner I picked up is a example.. he was asking $50 for it.. I mentioned it didn't have any blade clamps and we looked for some in the shop. Guy said well I guess I don't have any and I need it gone so if you want it take it or it's going in the dumpster, LOL.. I said okay I'll take it then.. He even carried it up the steep hill and loaded it in my car. I planned to offer $30 be he didn't let me get to the punch line.. lucky for me I turned down the $60 one the year before at an estate sale and then I bought the box of blades which once I got home I found I had 4 Hegner clamps in the bottom. Box of blades was actually free too because they found it after the guy that bought the saw had already left so they said I could just take the blades and parts.1 point

My March Madness
danny reacted to barb.j.enders for a topic
Here is some of stuff I did in March. The stacking puzzles were previously cut and I just painted them. I had tried to sell at a show last year as "paint your own" - didn't go over very well. I did two of the sunflower puzzles. I also cut & finished two guitar puzzles and a bass guitar. I have a sale coming up at the end of the month so was putting a push on to get product out. Nice to be retired and able to spend most of the day in the shop!1 point -

I've replaced bearings on most of my G4, but not those. However, that entire saw is easy to work on, so I doubt you will have much of an issue replacing them. Being an owner of a G4, and a person who restores machinery, I can try to answer any questions, or even take my saw apart, should the need arise. Dan1 point

**UPDATE** The saw was trashed and was missing several pieces. Bearings (turned by hand) sounded OK but the guy didn't even have a plug on it so I could turn it on!! Obviously I passed on it...imagine going to buy a car and it not having any gas! Trust me it works...REALLY?! That really is Buyer Beware...LOL Thanks all for your input. Scott0 points
