    Time in the shop

We had lot’s of rain lately which is not too good for the golf courses, so made a few items in the shop to keep busy. The crucifix was for one commission work but decided to cut two at once.

  2. I ordered a box of seconds from Ocooch and requested labels on the boards. Sure, helped in identification. Now back to my wood identification days at the University.

    What kind of wood?

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I got a box of seconds from Ocooch and there's one I just can't figure our. So I'm looking for any help on what kind of wood this is. I can tell it heavy and hard like red oak. And cuts like oak. My thought was white oak, but the grain just doesn't fit for me. Your thoughts?

  4. That is fine if you miter slots are parallel to each other, then that is correct. A bandsaw is not as easy. Every time you install a new blade it can sit on the tires differently and will track different. Bandsaw blades are flimsy so they being tough to track straight. Good luck. As I said I neve set my bandsaw fence to the table. Always to the blade that is doing the cutting. I use a fence that is not attached to table but uses magnets so I can fine tune it easily. Good luck.

    What kind of wood?

I agree it's probably white oak, but ash is another possibility.

  9. Good day Everyone, Just got me a Excalibur-21 and was really excited to get started scrolling but have found a problem with the saw. When I start up the saw and the blade is running the lower blade clamp is hitting the lower blade guard. I have tried to bend it up out of the way but have had no luck, has anyone ever run into this problem, or have a solution to fix this? Thanks in advanced for any help with this problem. Brian
