  1. My next door neighbor's son invited us to his 7th birthday party. We're pretty good buddies and he calls me "Mr. Charlie." His mom will probably like this more than he does so of course we'll bring a toy/game present too. Giving a kid a wooden portrait would probably be as exciting to them as socks. The words, written so skillfully , are from Bob Dylan's, Forever Young.

    A Few Jim Blume Patterns

I cut these three after a six-month layoff. Harvest Time - Back Porch - Bucket Harvest Time was changed a little by me and took the most time.

  3. I'm living well in Korea ~~~ I've cut back on my social media activity and am enjoying various experiences in Korea. I'm sorry for not being able to greet you often. I've visited occasionally, but I haven't been able to write. I'm currently planning an exhibition that I've been putting off. I'll come and say hello while taking pictures of the exhibition. Always stay healthy and happy!!

Went back to some fretwork. Steve Good pattern. 1/4" bbply. Failed experiment with scrapbook paper for colour. The glue caused it to wrinkle. Finished with one coat of varathane.

  5. I haven’t been very active lately due to a few issues but here is my latest trial run. Made from recycled Rimu and an old drawer bottom. Back in the old days they sure were not shy about making ply with character grain.

    God Boxes and Bowl

Been a pretty busy summer with not much shop time. Here are 2 projects that I have manages to eek out. The God Boxes are for some of my wifes family The bowl is Poplar and Walnut. One of the best I have done so far. Hope all you guys and gals are doing okay.

  9. I was in the shop yesterday trying to do a compound cut. But the nozzle had clogged on my can of 3M77 and efforts to unclog it had failed. So I printed my pattern on label paper. But when I tried to attach it to the blank I got too much sawdust on it and it would not stick. Looking around the shop for something to make it stick I settled on my spray can of shellac. It took a little longer to set, but it did stick. The 2nd flamingo is the happy result.

    Pocket/Prayer Crosses

I don't do many religious items but started to make theese small crosses. A few simple designs and nothing fancy. Various woods and sizes of each design.

  15. pocket crosses were very popular in the little town I used to live in called Heppner. I man made what he called pocket crosses with the idea of giving them to anyone who had lost a friend or family to let them know they were not alone in their problems and others supported them, even some they knew not so very well. The cross was a reminder of the careful person that gave it to them and told them to carry it in their pocket as a reminder that Christ died for them because he cared and loved them too. He also asked them to pass it along to someone that might need a little encouragement and caring also. I loved the idea and started making pocket angels to give to others, myself. I think they are very nice and people who receive them seem to love that someone else cared enough about what they were going through at the time to give it to them. Dick heppnerguy

    Girl with watering can

Ok I decided to cut a second one, but I upsized her to 120. Plus I added a little bling. Think I will do a 160 or 180 and make into a windchime.

    God Boxes and Bowl

Kind of funny how well they work to easy your worries. I guess its the act of physically writing them down and putting them in the box for God to deal with.

  20. Hi Frank, the cut panel is a piece of salvage ply that I had tucked away with something like this project in mind. It’s 4mm and was a little warped so I used a 8mm backing panel to straighten it. Glued and screwed. The frame might be a little over engineered but better on the safe side than sorry is my thinking. Needs a bit of touching up.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, I flipped the little girl over and painted it solid black. I wanted to see how she would look and I must say I like. So now I know she will look good painted and also as a silhouette.

  24. A simple trick I use, I wipe the nozzle with my finger nail after each and every use. Doing this prevents it from building up and clogging. If my finger gets too sticky, I just wipe it off with a shop towel sprayed with mineral spirits. If you can’t get mineral spirits, use paint thinner. Wiping the nozzle with the wet shop towel will work too.

  25. I seems to me that the latest 3m77 cans of spray have I purchased, clog more than in the past ones. It is bad enough that I keep a small jar of Mineral spirits that I put the caps in between sprays. They must have changed caps or something. That is what happens. Companies get something that is good and works they have to change it so it doesn't. Same thing with websites!

  28. Next month will mark one year that I bought my Dewalt scroll saw and joined this great community of people. I've made quite a few projects in that time and received very helpful, valuable information from the members here. Just wanted to thank you all very much and special thanks to "grandpa" for his time and effort putting up with me to get some beautiful patterns of our Min Pins, past & present. You all Rock!!

  29. Thanks. My wood shelf is the only area I didn't get in the panoramic shot. Everything is pretty blurry but I do have a self portrait under the Pop's Shop sign.
