I picked up my “new” Hegner this week. I ordered a quick clamp and quick tension rod from Advanced Machinery and they showed up yesterday. This is a 30 year old saw and damn, it runs so very smooth. Now I have one for my summer shop and one for my winter shop. I found the saw on Market Place. While there I also picked up a Porter Cable router and router table with fine adjust. And in the 2nd picture is a 6” digital height gauge. Been looking for one for quite awhile. They accepted my offer of $350.00 plus a Coin Drop that I make. Pretty good deal I’d say. By the way, if anyone is interested in an EX-21, I have two for sale. Going cheap.6 points

Some cuttings from the past
red river and 3 others reacted to Mike Crosa for a topic
Have been setting up my shed shop these last few months and finally looks like I will start scrolling, (Yea!). I was going through a box and came up with these cuttings from long ago. The three Mahi Mahi was one of my first projects. At the time I had purchased a used Hegner and cut the fish on it. It was a good saw but I a quickly grew tired of the blade set up. So I quickly sold it and purchased a Hawk. I loved this saw. But due to medical issues and a bunch of other things, I had to sell it and everything else and moved back to Miami from Ocala. I was without a saw till a few months ago when I purchased a Pegas from Denny. The two Easter cuttings were from Sue Mey and I stacked cut at the time and gave them away at Easter. Looking forward to scrolling agin.4 points -
My latest project - Halloween box with hidden opening mechanism. "Trick or Treat" sign is moving element: if it in the lower position box is locked, if it in the upper position you can remove top of the box. Watch the video to see how it works and how it was made. Also pattern includes 2 variant: usual box and with hidden mechanism Halloween box pattern2 points

Over the years I have done several cars, planes, landscapes and a few ship. I thought I try my hand at a Mississippi style steam boat. It was about the max size for my EX-16 at 17 x 14 and had to do some cuts coming in at opposite directions. The railing was the most challenging with close to 140 very narrow cuts. Lots of very small cuts, especially the stairs. I really liked the drifting smoke coming off the stacks. It took several days to cut because it would get hot in my shop, garage and did most of the work in the mornings when it was still cool. 1/8" BBPW with shellac/ lacquer finish.2 points

Very nice Mike! Glad you could get a machine. I predict you will like your Pegas, I am quite pleased with mine. Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to the forum.2 points

Blacksmith.
artisanpirate reacted to sydknee for a topic
My father was a Blacksmith. He started his apprenticeship when aged 14 and worked until aged 65. A kind hearted man with a will as strong as the iron he worked. He had five sons and to his disappointment only one followed in his footsteps. I was’t the one as I went to sea when I was 15 and since then have worked countless (over 30) different jobs in different countries. as per usual I used all recycled wood.1 point -

Very nice pattern and cutting. I've done a few river boats, and I know that they can be very challenging. You certainly rose to the challenge.1 point -
Beautiful job on the cutting and especially the railing! Have never seen one in person, as we are lucky to have rivers that still flow here in NM! Erv1 point

Just a little scrolling
artisanpirate reacted to don in brooklin on for a topic
I could of done these with a band saw that I don't own any more so I scrolled the handles. These are the first of 12 that my granddaughter and I are doin as a gifts at a research conference at the local hospital. She will be doing hers next week when she get back from holidays. Made from 4/4 Brown Maple. Bought rough wood and milled to 7 1/2 by 18 by about 3/4. Cost less than $5 CDN.1 point -
Suggest you read the article on wood allegies and toxicity found here Wood Allergies and Toxicity | The Wood Database (wood-database.com) A good finish might seal the wood, but why start off with a problem wood?1 point

Oscillating Multi Tool?
OCtoolguy reacted to rash_powder for a topic
Ahhhh……. I see. Best of luck with your hunt for a new camper. from what I have found the slides do tend to sag due to the unsupported span. Something to watch for if you look used. We also just swapped all our light bulbs for LED and the current dropped from 37.5 amps to 6 amps on the DC inverter. The fans don’t start immediately with the lights anymore.1 point -

danny reacted to Hudson River Rick for a topic
@OCtoolguyHi Ray, thanks for all the suggestions. I had tried most of them prior to posting here, to no avail. I'm going to rtemove inkscape from my computer and then reinstall it again. Don't know if that will help or not...here's hoping it works.1 point -

Would you believe that after decades of scrolling I actually ran my finger into the blade (DOH!). I was cutting a piece for an intarsia project I'm working on, was concentrating on the line to such a degree I didn't see my finger heading for the blade. I sure realized it when my finger hit the blade! Good thing I still have decent reflexes even at my age (lol.)1 point

I bought mine, a Dremel, about 13 years ago to install a medicine chest in one of the cherry cabinets in our bathroom. I used the 1/2 moon blade. It worked great. I use the sander part with triangle paper all the time on my small odd-shaped projects. I'd be lost without it. If you already have some Bauer battery driven tools then all you need is the basic tool. You'll love it.1 point

Kevin, you can get small circular saw blade for the rotatory tool from HF: https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/rotary-oscillating-tools/rotary-tool-accessories/6-piece-hss-saw-blade-with-mandrel-set-67224.html If these are not to your liking and you want the oscillating tool, then I would recomend the half moon saw blade, it is very adjustable sod you can adjust the depth of the cut: https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/rotary-oscillating-tools/multi-tool-accessories/round-half-moon-blades/3-12-in-bimetal-steel-half-moon-blade-for-oscillating-multi-tools-63131.html1 point

I did some bookmarks using 1/32" plywood and held them together by wrapping them with blue painter's tape. Worked real well. I think I did about 8 at a time using a #2 blade. Tom1 point
