    A helping hand

I’m quite enjoying this art form . A lot different from all the toy making I usually do. More challenging in lots of way specially patience. as normal with me it’s all recycled wood.

  2. I have cut these beautiful Russ Beard patterns before but gave them all away, so I decided to cut them again, one set will be in my workshop to remind me why I wake up every day. The remaining two are going to two unsuspecting parishioners in our parish. Patterns cut on 4mm Birch Ply, #1 Niqua Blade, treated with BLO and Mineral Spirits, and then a few coats of clear varnish.

Bought my Dewalt scroll saw a year ago today and created hundreds of items with it. Scrolling was easy to learn, safe to do and it's a very rewarding experience to transform a piece of wood into something beautiful. I have so much more to learn but the helpful members in this group have made my progress much easier. Thanks!

  6. Thank you. Just a little added Christmas decoration that they can't get anywhere else. We send these early so they can use them for their decoration the year they receive them. Dick heppnerguy

  7. I have owned the 788 and now a Pegas. When I had the 788, I seemed to top feed mostly and now on the Pegas, it is very largely bottom feed. Just seemed to be the way the saw guided me. I had installed Pegas clamps on the 788. I do like the arm hold on the Pegas. I had very little adjustment moving between the saws as far as operation.

  9. Colorado welcomes you to the village Bob. You will get a lot of good advice from the folks here. I have been a member for almost three years and have received a lot of help. Many of us have a Pegas. I have had mine for 2 years and up to now have not had a problem. One of our members sells Pegas scroll saws. Also, a good number have the Dewalt 788. Enjoy your stay here. Like I said, you will receive a lot of help from the members. Jerry

  13. Nice work, Dick. I did that pattern one time when I first started scrolling. I think it is still around and drug out each season. Mine was not as colorful as yours. I like your colors.

  14. Hi Dick, nice job on the snow people ( my attempt at humor), thanks for sharing. I have a niece that would go bonkers over them, can you share where you obtained the pattern. Rick

  22. Something I left out: Each truck body was cut with a different blade, with the exception of the last two, both of which I cut with the #12MGT. Yesterday, I cut the windows all with a 12MGT.

  23. So, on a whim I bought a HF SS ( $22.00 from the returned shelf ). The saw itself isn't bad, the the pin end blades however . . . what junk. The HF blades were the best of a bad lot, Bosch, Ryobi, Olsen; all junk, can't turn well, choppy action ( I did try the Ryobi blades on my Hegner, still choppy, even at max speed, 2000 spm ) Here's the first, possible the last piece off the saw. 5" X 15" X 3/4" blue pine, Steve Good pattern "running horses" The saw will probably be used to break down larger boards or cut outlines of plaques

  24. I have made several of these. Recently I have been setting the two outer pieces aside and then sanding the inner sides flat tomatch the outside. Attach a ribbon or cord between the antlers. Result - one 3d reindeer and two reindeer sillhouettes to hang on the tree.

    Hello from Georgia

welcome to the village, I have a Pegas but haven't been able to use it for over 2 years. I was taking care of my wife who was suffering from Alzheimer's. She just passed away in April and I had surgery for a tumor in my head at the same time.
