    A couple more

Got a couple more finished. The mouse is a Janette Square design. Woods used Walnut, Wenge, Aspen and Spanish Cedar. The snowglobe was designed by Lori Jenks. Woods used Maple, Cherry, Poplar, Aspen, Elm. I ended up taking off the "glitter", couldn't get it to stick on. Third photo is the final of the snowglobe. I used a paint pen to put on the silver dots. Both were very quick and easy patterns.

Bauer 22" ( New videos added)

Well, I've been on the fence about this saw from Harbour Freight for about a month now. Short back story. I started with a Delta P-20 back in 2000. Loved that saw. Mt daughter wanted it to start her scrolling, so I gave it to her and picked up a Hawk 220VS to replace it. While the Hawk is a great saw, and replacement parts still available, I just couldn't figure out an easy to top feed for fret work. The Delta was a breeze. So I finally pulled the trigger today on the Bauer. Here are a few pics , the video is literally 2 minutes after I put it on the bench and plugged it in. I was amazed the nickel stayed put thru the speed range. Tomorrow I'll really get into this saw, but as of now, I'm impressed 20241014_104926.mp4

  4. Hey everyone! In this fun Halloween scroll saw project video, we make a beautiful Floral Pumpkin Design. The design is from Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Magazine (Fall 2021 Issue 84) by Fox Chapel Publishing. This design has alot of uses and I made this one from 1/4 and 1/2 inch material. Hope you all like the video! #ArtisanPirate

I got some more cherry so I cut another. I tried the 321 finish but it didn’t come out very nice so I used spray polyurethane for the finish. I’ve done this in cherry before and another in worm eaten oak from an old barn. I’ll sell this one at the store also. It’s a Steve Good pattern. Thanks for looking.

Issue 97, Winter 2024 literally just came out and with Barb in Canada, she may not have her’s yet (I got mine end of last week). The issue with Janette Square’s intarsia pattern of the mouse on the leaf was in the prior one, Issue 96, Fall 2024 on page 55. The article is entitled “Riding the Wind.” Barb, you did excellent work on all your projects. I have finally got my saws accessible and I will have to try some pieces soon. Intarsia may have to wait a bit though until I get my skill set back up to speed.

  11. Denny. I have the pattens too that I bought from Dianna when she still had a web site. Scroller is difficult to deal with as a Canadian as pattens are not downloadable. I don't use any patterns in my classes that are not in the "Free" world so with the standing birdhouse I modified Steve's.

  14. A lot can help them from changing color tones can be done by the type of finish you apply. I don't personally know of a wood that doesn't change color tone some if it's in the sunlight at all. A quality topcoat finish with UV protectant will go a long way farther than cheaper rattle can finishes and oil finishes. I don't really know of a good wood clear coats but I know some high end woodworkers that use automotive urethane clear.. which I think is probably about as good as it gets. Not cheap though.

  15. I've noticed that GrandpaJim hasn't logged in here in a few months.. He sold his crafts on Etsy and Go Imagine websites and had shut his stores down too. So I got to looking him up and sadly found his obituary. He passed on July 3rd. RIP Jim https://www.schmidtfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Frank-Jim-Mikul?obId=32256215
