Pattern by Ridgeback Wood Lamp. Saw the pattern and had to cut it. 11 X 14 double stack 1/8 BB ply 140 cuts with Sawbird #3 full reverse. Jeff

In my exploration of adding color to my scrollsaw projects, and trying something new, I took an actual stained glass pattern and cut it with ⅛ ply and filling it with acrylic in place of the stained glass This time I stained one side darker that the other. So what do you think? Light or dark wood? Chris

I'm cheating, I use a fretsaw. I started in january '22. These are among my first ones. Nine months later ... Fast forward to the present ... This is 40cm x 67.5 cm and has three layers.

Om a FB group for Intarsia they have a pattern of the month for everyone to do. October was a funky owl by Steve Shears. I did the owl but put a spin on the backer. Mounted it to a 15" round and added a quote by John Muir The letters are ½ high and ⅛ thick, and cut from Bolivian Rosewood.

I actually had the same idea but went a slightly different route. I use acrylic sheets, they are easy to cut with my scrollsaw, and I'm at the point I'm trying actual stained glass patterns. Here is a deer I got from a coloring book I used as a trial.

'don in brooklin' was referring to me. I've backed many of my scroll-sawn pieces with appropriate glass. I'm attaching photos of three of those pieces.

Hi I made this before many years ago and was starting to look tatty so I took it down and made another with some improvements. This version now has a vinyl roof and plastic windows and doors no more rotten wood

Kevin, the spring in your illustration, which is drawn over my photo, needs to be there. I believe there is supposed to be s spring that goes over the Rod, but when I pulled the pin out of the tension lever, I did not see a spring fly out. I ordered the parts from Denny, and he is sending me a schematic drawing of the chuck head, so I can see the break down. Thanks again for all your help, I'll let all you guys know how the fix works, when i get back on the air. Rick

You have me confused now.. LOL.. The spring is not directly under the white tension lever.. it's in a slot in the chuck head below the lever yes but not directly under it.. You can visibly see it in your photo you posted.. You can't take it out until you pull the pin as the pin goes through the rod that is part of the sliding part.. as you place tension on the blade the sliding part moves upward to pull up on the blade via the white lever. You can sort of see the pin going through the rod in this photo of yours that I marked everything out in color.

Well I just replied and it didn't show up so I'll try again here. Put the white lever into the tension position and then at the front of the chuck push up on the lower sliding piece and that will give you access to the small pin that holds the lever on. The pin is not really a tight press fit pin as I moved it about half way out with just a flimsy old saw blade.. but a small drill bit would probably work better. Also I believe the metal bushing insert into the lever is not tight fitting either so be sure not to let it fall out while working to replace the spring. To give yourself a extra hand you could probably push up on the sliding piece and tape it in place maybe.. I think once you get the pin out the white lever will just pull up and out of the chuck. Then you drop the sliding part back down to get the spring out and new one in. Then just put the lever back up there and replace that small pin. Should be very simple so long as the parts don't go MIA on you, LOL Here is a couple more photos.. two shows the side view where the pin it.. one shows the pin slightly hidden which is why you have to push up on the sliding part to actually get it up high enough to access that pin. I've never taken one of these apart "yet".. but if I had to guess how it comes apart I'd think you'd have to take the top plastic lever off the parts under that lever probably comes off the top to allow the post and the sliding portion to drop out of the bottom. Probably just lower it enough to get the old spring out and the new in.. then slide it back up and hook up the top portion levers pins etc. Looks like some small parts so be cautious not to drop anything, lol I could be all wrong on this.. as I said, I've never took one apart and only guessing based on what Denny said and looking at the pictures. Seems like this would maybe come with some written instruction or diagram etc.. Maybe there is a YouTube video showing the process?

I gave you a reply to your post on another forum. The post should not be removed. The spring fits around the post. The tension lever rides on the post when you apply tension.

@kmmcrafts Thanks for your reply Kevin. I know now that I should have asked how to remove the podt so I could insert the new spring. When I tried to remove the post, there was a good amount of resistance, and I'm not sure if it is a press fit or are ther threads on the rod? @OCtoolguyThank you. Question, why do you want to replace the spring? It is only there to apply tension to the lever. If the lever is popping out of tension, the lever needs to be replaced. It is a common replaceable item.

It's nice of you all to agree with my wife (lol) I must admit I prefer the natural (light) side also. But it had been in the back of my mind "hmmmm, I wonder what a dark stain would look like?" Which is why I had to try. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle!

It's actually 2 sides of the same project, I think of it as a sun catcher, looks the same from both sides. But it seems that the preferred side is the light (natural color) wood side. My wife agrees with all of you!

Hmm, I've never really looked over my clamps or how they are assembled or work, I know they have parts for these but I've never had to replace anything yet. I do keep mine lubed good with some dry spray lube so they're always working as smoothly as possible to hopefully prevent me from having to replace any parts. I've seen where many folks have talked about replacing this spring but I never knew why it needed replaced. I know a within the first year it seemed like the moving parts were not working as smoothly as they originally did so that is when the use of the dry spray lube came into play for me. If nobody has answered your questions I'll try to take a look at my clamps tomorrow and see if I can understand how this is assembled and maybe I'll be able to help answer your question.

Wow! Those look terrific. If I had to choose, I like the light color better. It pops better with the other colors.

Barn and fence - I just finished cutting this scroll saw wood-art piece today. Lots of hours in this one.

Made a fun pick holder for my 8 year old grandson who just got a guitar for his birthday. Highly imperfect work but OK for a first try. Got off a bit with my templates making one side of the lid a bit thinner than the other. Proves it's hand made I suppose. Louidjy will forgive me. If anyone is interested I followed the instructions from a YouTube video called Scroll Saw Guitar Pick Holder from Acutabove Woodworking.

I don't think my Pegas Scroll saw can cut rock!!!! But I have seen someone hereon make stream rocks out of wood.

I would agree, this saw is superior to many entry level saws, mostly being 22 inches as opposed to 16. It is also variable speed which is a big plus. I've been thru a few saws in my time scrolling and I will say this one is a winner.

Nice job, Ralph! I like all of them, especially the second to last one with the witch and the cat. Is it a Steve Good pattern like many of the others? I don't recall seeing that one before.

I have done dozens of projects combining stained glass and scrolling. This is an engagement present I scrolled backed in glass. I cut an angled recessed ring in the outer perimeter and inserted the glass in back of it.

Can someone please help me with my Pegas Blade holder problem ? I just ordered the replacement spring for the tension lever from Denny, and I have removed the lever, but I am not sure if the post that is under the lever should also be removed. As you can see from the picture, the spring is below the post, I don’t think that tension would be applied to the lever in that configuration. Thanks in advance for any help.

THANK YOU ALL . Once again this group MAY HAVE solved the problem. I say MAY HAVE, because I don't recall a spring being under the white tension lever, but as we all know S#&@ happens. My guess is that the spring is in NEVER NEVER LAND, hiding in a dust pile and soon to be spinning around in my cyclone dust collector.
