  1. Just finished this beautiful Russ Beard Pattern, it was a double stack on 4mm Birch Plywood, cut with a Niqua 1 Pin Less blade, soaked in a BLO/Mineral Spirit Mixture, finished with a few coats of clear lacquer. Black backer and a second backed smaller than the original cut to give a shadow line effect. I cannot control the final colour appearance that the wood takes on, but I will accept it and am Blessed and Grateful that I am able to produce work like this.

    Farm

Hi all I got asked if I could build a farm this is what I came up with.

  3. WD40 is not a lubricant per se. It does feel oily, but it is not marketed or intended as a true lubricant (says the guy who liberally sprays his garden tools with the stuff). There are lots of true lubes available in almost any viscosity.

  4. WD40 is very corrosive. Never use it on firearms. Spray a pad of 4 0 steel wool and lay it outside. It will disappear.

  5. "Creature from the Black Lagoon" 40 x 67,5cm, backer board 8mm, lagoon 4mm, bottom overlay 4mm, backer board head 4mm, head 4mm, cheap DIY store ply, done with a fretsaw using a #1 blade. The thing is the size of ca. 4 A4 sheets. Everything is done by hand, as I don't have any power tools. I found the original pic at deviantArt, making the patterns required redoing every single line in CorelDraw, which took about 20 hours. Fretsawing is a very slow process, I guess it took about 30 to 50 hours for this one. Some details: the pattern for the head the finished head on it's backer the lagoon and the bottom overlay

  6. Last year first year I tried these. All were gone in a few days to family and friends. Made some more this year. Took to my dentist office for hygienist. She took a couple and showed them to other office workers. When I left an hour later they were all gone. Other neighbors have asked my to make some more. Here is my lastest contribution. Houses are made from pine, poplar, and oak. Houses are stained with ipswich pine, golben pecan, cherry, and gunstock. Birds are made from pine, poplar, oak, zebrawood, and mahogony. All are then spayed with Rust-Oleum rattle spray can clear gloss. Hope you are not tired of seeing mini-birdhouses. Jerry

  7. Thanks for sharing this. I think I'll have it done as well at some point, but they want to take care of the Mastoiditis first..

    Wedding Rings

A little something I just finished for my granddaughters anniversary. Made out of Ash and Cherry. Able to do this with Denny's help. Pattern maker unknown.

It took me a while to figure out how to use since I am not familiar with Inkscape, however one I did it was easy to personalize the ornaments with my family's names. Thank you for offering it at $10. I wish you were able to do that with the other Christmas kits during this season. Karen

    Another acrylic cut trial

In my exploration of adding color to my scrollsaw projects, and trying something new, I took an actual stained glass pattern and cut it with ⅛ ply and filling it with acrylic in place of the stained glass This time I stained one side darker that the other. So what do you think? Light or dark wood? Chris

  11. thanks for all the info. I was under the assumption that I knew all about lubricants, I guess we all can learn and change what we thought we knew

  13. Is it safe to use WD 40 as a lubricant?

  14. I didn't either until years ago on a motorcycle forum. One of the members was an aircraft mechanic and said that the FAA would shut an airport down for having Simple Green anywhere on site due to the corrosive nature and I think the graphite came up in the same post; or maybe from somewhere else. Its been a hot minute since it went into my head. Anyway, the relevance was that since motorcycles are primarily made from aluminum anymore, don't use the stuff. There's too much else to worry about when riding than structural failures.

    3 joined bird boxes

Hi I made this before many years ago and was starting to look tatty so I took it down and made another with some improvements. This version now has a vinyl roof and plastic windows and doors no more rotten wood

    Show #1 is over

Well my first show of the year is over, it was a pretty cool day temperature around 6C not too big of a crowd because it was in our community of 184 houses. My sales were better than expected $578 and another $80 for special orders.

  25. Put me down for light also. The dark stain just drags down the vibrant colors of the glass. Let the glass do the talking. Nice job.

  26. Sadly, a fellow scroller her bought my Dewalt and everything that went with it. Now I'm making resin projects and I can work inside the house instead of a freezing garage, that's so much cleaner now!

  27. Sure looks great on both sides. What did you use to cut the acrylic?

  30. They all look great Jerry! I make about 100 each year and they all get sold! 50 are sold to a local bird feed store and the rest I sell at a two day Christmas Boutique coming up. If any remain, I give away to friends, the mailman, ups driver and so on. Btw, I never get tired of seeing what everyone makes!

  39. I'm cheating, I use a fretsaw. I started in january '22. These are among my first ones. Nine months later ... Fast forward to the present ... This is 40cm x 67.5 cm and has three layers.

  40. Well Tyler, you did it again. Enjoyed the video. One of your sayings is "Think outside the box.". That is something I have to learn to do. I need to remember the wood the pattern designer used is only a suggestion. So many of your videos show you using wood you have on hand or what one can purchase at our big box stores. Today, for example, you used construction grade plywood. It doesn't have to be exotic. Thanks again for the video. Jerry

  43. I've noticed that GrandpaJim hasn't logged in here in a few months.. He sold his crafts on Etsy and Go Imagine websites and had shut his stores down too. So I got to looking him up and sadly found his obituary. He passed on July 3rd. RIP Jim https://www.schmidtfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Frank-Jim-Mikul?obId=32256215
