    Guitar Ornament

This may be the most difficult project I have ever cut on a scroll saw. I made several attempts before I got one to come out in one piece.

    Blade count

They were 95% FD UR blades in various sizes. The rest were Pegus blades. The UR blades have a reverse tooth every third tooth. When the blade starts to dull, i reposition it to get fresh teeth. This is easy to do with the Pegas saw. I load the blade as low in the clamp as i can. When dull, i move it up in the holder as far as i can so there are fresh teeth cutting. It’s like doubling the life of the blade! This works on any skip tooth blade and FD UR reverse blades. If you use a regular reverse tooth blade, you will loose the reverse teeth when you reposition it.

    Excalibur Scroll Saws

Well it's been a little while, but I finally got in touch with Denny Knappen like some of you guy's recommended that I do. I talked to him today and he was really helpfulI I ordered what I needed from him and it was a pleasure talking with him on the phone. And, it turns out that he has the exact same saw that I do, so that really helped. Anyway I wanted to thank you guy's on here for the suggestions as it really helped me out. Thanks again to all of you. Jim

  11. I modified a Steve good pattern using Inkscape to make this Ornament as a gift. It is made from 1/4-inch plywood with a 1/8-inch backing. It is finished with rattle can lacquer and bright red acrylic. I used a Pegas #1 MGT at a slow speed for the cut.

  14. For anyone who hasn't seen these, they are really fun. I did these three last night for grandkids. They look much better actual "tiny" size than blown up. I included the video demonstration.

  17. I have family is San Antonio and Nixon.. I'd love to visit more often but I really couldn't move there as I'd sure miss the cold and snow.. But then again.. I never seen so many old rust free cars and trucks.. When I think about it that way Texas is right up my alley.. Then I think about all the scorpions, tranchulas, and the huge rattlesnakes, and copperheads at my father-in-laws ranch.. I remember that I really do like the cold and snow.. Oh, don't stand on any ant hills.. Those things will set you on fire... Yep, definitely like this snow and cold..

  25. Yesterday I did a compound cut out of one of the ornaments for charity books. this one is by Travis. I realized that by adjusting the side cut, you can make 3 ornaments out of one slab, so in essence a stack cut in a way. Cyut the PEACE side first, then cut the 3 side cuts.

  26. Some recent stuff. Scrooge is, of course, hanging up at work during December. Santa countdown is at my wife's desk, and the gnome ornaments usually find a spot on the tree somewhere.

  37. 3 Layer, with colored rice size LEDs I really like doing layered and lit projects. Last year, I did the much larger one. I really like working with walnut, it cuts and finishes well, and that chocolate color when I apply the linseed oil is phenomenal.

  38. I just finished this "snowman" today, he's headed to Australia in the morning. My customer likes to send winter gifts to her family enjoying their summer. Thanks for looking. This a Sue Mey pattern, I changed a few things so the piece would be safer to ship. Rick

  39. I made this pattern from Steve Good and it can be interpreted two ways, Santa gained too much weight during the year and the ladder broke or he lost too much weight and his pants fell off, either way so far I made 5 of them because my family and friends like them
