  1. I have made two sets of these, one last year and one this year. Both made for the Christmas Boutique I do each year. Both set sold! A Sheila Landry pattern set. The reindeer are 1/4” and 1/2” red oak. The sleigh is 1/4” Maple and 3/8” Sapele.

  2. My Barbers (a Father/Son operation) are big time gun enthusiasts who, after seeing some of my work, ask me if I could make something to hang in their shop…the walls of which, are filled with all kinds of signs, pictures, and the like. All things about Hunting, Guns, and Motorcycles plus Police Patches, lots of Pin-ups and much more. To get a feel of what kind of things are on their wall, one of the signs reads “Notice! Ammunition is getting too expensive, so there will be no warning shots. I found an image online that met with what I was asked to make. I created this 9 x 12 inch ‘Gun-In-Hand’ pattern for an Intarsia like painted Segmental piece. The pattern was cut from one piece of 10-inch wide, nominal 3/4" thick, premium pine. I painted the individual pieces with Acrylic Air Brush Paints. After Painting, the pieces were glued onto a 1/8-inch-thick BB Ply backer. The completed assembly was protected with multiple coats of Clear Gloss Acrylic Finish spray. Comments and critiques always welcome

    Guitar Ornament

This may be the most difficult project I have ever cut on a scroll saw. I made several attempts before I got one to come out in one piece.

  4. Have done a few more, Alex Fox Christmas lock boxes, since it was cut with 1/8” wood I did two at once, the tree display is from Don in Brooklin and the wine plaque is from Sheila Landry. Enjoy

  5. These is my Christmas project for family. 14 of them! I’m pretty much done with all the staining, but wanted the group’s opinion on painting two items. I was thinking about painting the bow red and the smaller fireplace flame yellow or just leave them as is. I highly regard your opinions on this! Thanks, Ray

  16. This is a Christmas pickup that is did using a mystery wood I believe is Aspen. It is 3/16 inch thick painted using acrylic paint. The other is 1/4 inch thick oak stained with gunstock stain. Both are sprayed with rattle can clear gloss. The pattern is from a pattern book I purchased, Holiday Scroll Saw Ornaments, buy Jacob and Wayne Fowler. Jerry

  18. I modified a Steve good pattern using Inkscape to make this Ornament as a gift. It is made from 1/4-inch plywood with a 1/8-inch backing. It is finished with rattle can lacquer and bright red acrylic. I used a Pegas #1 MGT at a slow speed for the cut.

    Bending thin wood

For a paper cup to be used as a form for bending wood around, the wood would have to be almost paper-thin. I am anxious to see what you come up with.

    First Scroll Saw

I have to say proceed with caution. I saw an unbelievable deal on an almost-new Hawk a while back. There was not much info, just pictures and video. I started asking questions because I was excited. Asked two questions via message, then asked if he would send the serial number so I could check on the age of the saw. The guy exploded and cussed me out for asking the questions; Then I noticed that by the end of that day, the listing was gone. He may have sold it, but I felt like maybe it was a stolen saw, and he was afraid I was on to it. Could be wrong, but his action just set off alarms in my head.

    First Scroll Saw

Kenofshelby, I started out with a Lowes entry saw porter cable. I had issues with that not holding blades and tension issues. OcToolGuy helped me find a Hawk226 used for $400. No issues of blades and tension every again. I am the 3rd owner of the Hawk. I have owned it for 4 years now. I went to see the used machine and OcToolguy told me what to look for. I got pic and messaged him and he said the machine is in very good condition. So I got it. I was so frustrated with entry saws. But the experts of scrollsaw village showed their project pictures and enticed me to go with used good brand name. My hats off to everyone here. I purposely used the term hats off because I designed a wearable cowboy hat from scrollsaw. I am building my 4th one now. The machine is never part of my frustration anymore. Me. Mark Eason

    First Scroll Saw

I'm 50 miles South of downtown Grand Rapids or 10 miles North of downtown Battle Creek. The main saw I'd like to sell is the 1998 RBI Hawk Ultra model 226VS.. has around 6-8 extra blade holders.. Don't let the year of the saw scare you as this saw was still sealed in the original box when I got it. I put hour meters on all my equipment and this is the lowest hour saw I have with only 102 hours on the meter so it's still like new. Somewhere I have the receipt from the original purchase.. guy I got it from ordered it in Dec. 1998 but didn't get delivery until January of 1999 and he had a stroke and couldn't use it.. it sat in a climate controlled shop until I bought it in 2017.. I'd let that saw go for $450 that's a firm price as I don't haggle. I've got a 2002 Hegner Multimax 18 that I might be able to be talked out of but I currently haven't played around with it enough and would like to get more time on it to see whether I really like or dislike it.. but I could be talked out of it for $350. I don't know much history on the saw other than it was pretty grimmy / dirty and needed much elbow grease and cleaning up when I got it.. Runs great and seems to work good.. I've only put 5 ish hours on this saw which is why I'd kinda like to hang onto it. I ran the other saw I had in mind this morning for a few minutes and I currently cannot sell it.. It's a China made Excalibur but this saw might be having some issues and I just can't sell it to someone the way it is currently.. May just have been some dust in the speed controller but the motor was hunting speeds this morning so I need to look into this before setting a price and selling someone a faulty saw.. That's not how I do things.. It's got quite a few ( 560 ) hours on it, and may need a few things checked over.. so currently not for sale. I also bought this new in box from someone that won it in a raffle.. I got it in Nov. of 2018 I have a 2018 Hawk BM26VS that I bought new in Dec. of 2018 but didn't take delivery until April 2019.. saw has 500 hours on it.. Can't say I really want to sell this one either but I suppose I could be talked out of it for around $650.. IF this saw sold then the other RBI 226VS wouldn't be for sale... I'll be keeping one of these bigger saws.

  23. For me, it depends on the pattern and how I want to finish the ornament. Some ornament patterns are very intricate and delicate. If I determine that there is a significant risk of breakage, I will lean toward 1/8" baltic birch. I also often use baltic birch ply if I intend to paint them. Mostly, however I tend to favor solid wood, with a clear finish. The species doesn't matter. I use a variety, depending on the color and look I'm after. I like my flat ornaments to be fairly thin, so I usually don't go over 1/4" and usually am around 3/16" thick. This makes stack cutting easier, as well.

  24. Hello, Been trolling for years and I came across a post about getting the program to run on current systems. I have the program and I have gotten to load onto Windows 11 but of course I not sure what I did will the serial number. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tim Shelton, If you are upright and breathing air, you're having a good day!
