    Wordart

It is a long time since I cut a Wordart. Designed lots but next week our club is going to review the library at our club. It is a really great resource and was started by my dear friend who passed away a couple of years ago. For all the work he did for the club and especially the formation of the library it was named the "Mack Cameron Memorial Library". I have the privilege of creating the sign for the library to be presented at this meeting. PS: If anyone was a pen turner, you may remember Mack on all the pen forums as he was a real avid pen turner.

  3. Finished this up this afternoon and I have a small crack in the lower corner, it was not there when I started but this is just the nature of wood sometimes. It is 1/2 inch cherry, I have not stained it yet so all options are open. I’m not selling this so I could just leave it, or overlay it with different wood or somehow fix the crack . Any advice would be greatly appreciated , thank you

  5. Here is the Hummingbird I cut for my spouse for Christmas. The frame was what I liked the most. The birdhouse was for my Granddaughters. They love to fish with me and love the dock I built them so I added a birdhouse to it.

    Red Baron Rocking Biplane

Something for when we have little tikes over. This was a fun project. Although it’s much bigger than I expected. Everything was cut on the scrollsaw with the exception of the rockers, they were cut on bandsaw.

    Saw vibration fix

So, my Hegner purrs like a kitten with just a blade, but when cutting it can get some vibration, not enough to mess with the magnifier light attached to the saw. The saw was bolted to the floor with a foam floor mat for padding. A little aside. I'd have problems with my washing machine walking off the leveling block, a couple of years ago I used a worn out sanding sponge for a block and haven't had a problem since. Last night, because I had to move the saw anyway, I set each of the legs on their own pad. Much less vibration. The sanding blocks roughness keeps the blocks from walking on both the floor and the legs. Only time will tell if this is a long term fix, but I wanted to share the idea.

  9. I gave this to my sister in law, thinking I could make another one. Unfortunately, I don’t have the pattern and I’m pretty sure I got it from this forum, oh, I’d say about 6 or 7 years ago. By chance does anyone have it to share?

  10. I would suggest some CA glue. This happens to me often and CA is the best way to keep the crack from spreading. The CA glue is typically transparent so after it sets, you just have to sand and then the crack will be secured! The crack will not disappear but it will not spread. Hope this helps!

For my daughters next fundraiser at school I'm making a load of these stick figure pieces ive made 100's of them in the past mostly with the bandsaw still need sanding and some need floppy ears to be attached last years fundraiser was a huge success with the birdhouses and feeders she sold every unit I hope she sells a lot of them to staff as I told her I can make as many as she needs for the actual sale normally I trace them onto wood but this time I glued paper pattern so everyone of them is same to mix and match species Spanish cedar walnut poplar so far will use sapele and cherry as I move along she said 36 sets would be fine as I'm making her some other things like planters also since it's first week of may sale msde 18 sets so far ina couple of days but I know sanding will take some time snd my scraps are building rapidly i I did not rummage through scraps for these just lazy but all scrolling projects in future will first be sought after from scraps first if possible

    wen 2156 table wobbly

Have you checked the pivot points under the table? A message thread from just two year's ago: https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/48812-wen-broken-bearing/

  14. Going to go way out on a limb here and say you are talking about this scrollsaw. When you said table top I had no idea what it is you want. Can you be more specific please. Those type saws are known for table top wobble in many brands including the Dewalt 788. Can you take a few photos and show us what you are trying to do. This can help others with a solution. https://wenproducts.com/products/wen-ll2156-21-inch-1-6-amp-variable-speed-parallel-arm-scroll-saw-with-extra-large-dual-bevel-steel-table

    Poplar

If your thickness target is 1/2” then you should cut your log at 3/4”. And you should go with a planer instead of a sander

  18. I probably should have taken the picture in better lighting, not sure why the wood grain goes different but the wood was rough sawn and i planned it down before using
    1 point
  19. Are you sure that is a crack? It looks more like where two pieces of wood were glued together. Look at the two different grain patterns. No where close to the same. I don't think it's a crack.

  20. I would add wood glue from the back, just enough to get into the crack but not seep out the front. Once that glue is dried, wet sand the front side around the crack with whatever finish you plane to use on the project. The saw dust/finish slurry should fill any cracks. Once this dries, sand the whole project and apply your finish. I don't know if any penetrating finish like BLO I tung oil will work with this method.

    Hawk 214

A 214 would use the round lower blade holder shown in the third one down from the top of the page. I showed the whole page because I didn't know if you need the lower one or upper one.. I assume if you need the upper one it would be the "Old Style" one towards the bottom of the page but I would contact them by phone ( email is sometimes ignored by them ) with the model and serial number and they will get you what you need. https://stores.bushtonhawkstore.com/blade-holders/

  22. Maybe I need to make another account with them under another phone number and email.. Then I can go back and forth between the accounts to get the good coupons.. LOL

    Price

Whatever the market will bear. If they don't sell, lower your price until they do. Then decide if it's worth your time and trouble.

  25. It's been a hard year for our family and these two cutting took my mind of things even if it was only for a little while each day. I saw the Viking pattern and immediately wanted to cut it for our grandson but my daughter convinced me to enter it into the Royal Melbourne Show, which I did and miraculously won first prize, still can't get over that. The second one was a Columbo portrait that I did for my daughter for Christmas, she is a hugh fan. Both were a giant surprise and warmly received. Hoping 2025 is a better year. Marg

  26. Hard to pick just one favourite. The one with the most meaning to me was this cutting I did of Dad and his great grand daughter at his 95th birthday(she was just about five). My sister took the picture and Ridgeback did the pattern for me. Jeff

    wen 2156 table wobbly

hello all, i just purchased the wen 2156 from the Depot, I haven't even turned it on yet, I can adjust the angle just fine and lock the table down, but the whole angle system appears to be loose, it will wobble up and down when pushing/pulling up from a side edge, not the front edge. I loosened and re-tightened the 2 rollers in the track and the ones in the back track, they aren't moving, I took off the side panels and there's nothing in there but the long bar. any suggestions? thank you.
